  • What a great stay, as a group of 8 we had plenty of space. We enjoyed a solid 10 mile walk and rewarded ourselves with a pint or six of ale in the lovely old hall inn pub. Terry was helpful and informative host throughout the booking process, and even left us a cake which was a treat. We snarfed our way through it, that in addition to Brian’s batch of flapjacks and we were all wiped out! Would certainly stay again Chinley is delightful.

  • A great host- very communicative and helpful. The house was great and exactly what was specified. The house really nice and was exactly what we needed.

    Rhys2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is in an excellent location for exploring the high peaks and the village has many facilities to make the stay even more comfortable. The house was excellently presented and we had plenty of room to relax, even though we had a large party. An extra shower would have been useful but it did not adversely affect our stay. Would highly recommend.

  • Great cottage, suitable for large groups - we had 7 staying (no couples!) and there was plenty of space to relax and eat together. Comprehensive kitchen, nice bedrooms, just a really nice atmosphere to this place, which was always warm. Host provided excellent local knowledge. Neighbours are friendly too which always helps. Highly recommended!

  • This is the second time we have stayed at Nina’s place and again she was an outstanding host. She could not have done more for us. Would absolutely recommend the location, house and Nina’s hospitality. Thank you!

  • A fantatic house perfect for a weekend or longer getaway. Close to beautiful walks rides and towns, great amenities within short walk and Nina was a warm, generous hugely helpful host. We highly recommend. Seven ladies on a biking weekend - we’ll be back for more hopefully in spring or summer so we can enjoy even more of the house garden and surrounding area. Huge thanks!

    Sarah2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • What a lovely place to stay, there were seven of us there and had to stay in for most of the time because of storm Dennis ,but we all had a great time playing games and listening to music and there was plenty of space for us all,we also had a fantastic meal at one of the local pubs, Perfect spot for a cozy getaway

    Bruce2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Nina’s cottage is stunning the picture do not do it justice. The garden is beautiful. Everything in the cottage is very thoughtful. Lots of kitchen utensils for cooking and an Amazon Alexa which was very useful! The bedrooms are very modern. We stayed in January and the cottage was very warm and cosy but also spacious! Amazing stay. Nina is also very friendly and responds quickly. She lives right next door which is handy also but was very happy for us to have a little get together. Thanks again.

    Devi2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • A absolutely lovely space, very clean and everything you could want for a very comfortable stay.

    Emily2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • We adored this house. We were two families with toddlers and the house was equipped with everything you can imagine for the children. The nice touches were toys, books and stair gates! We wish we had stayed longer as it was a home from home. The current pictures don’t do the house justice, in real life it’s super cosy and stylish. We would 100% return if the opportunity came up to visit the area again. P.s the path leading up to the house is very bumpy with potholes which might make some drivers nervous especially if you don’t have a 4x4.

    Jade2019-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our time at this cottage. All you could think of for your stay available and lots you hadn't!! The pictures do not do it justice. Lovely to see the different types of animals that come into the garden. Food for them is already waiting provided by Nina. We would definitely stay again

Quaint and tastefully renovated 2 bedroom apartment, full of history and charm. It is one of the oldest buildings in New Mills and I'm lead to believe from my history lessons in school that this stoney building housed the cotton spinners from the mills back in the late 1700s! Just a stones throw from the Torrs Millennium Walk and the Sett Valley Trail. All amenities such as Sainsburys, Boots, The Crispy Cod Chippy, Local Pubs and Transport Links are all within a short walking distance.
The property is ideal for walkers and bikers. With easy access to the Sett Valley and Goyt Valley trails. There are a variety of leaflets and maps of the suggested trails available in the apartment. Advice is also available should you fancy visiting Lyme Park, Kinder Scout or Lantern Pike. 2 bedroom apartment, private entrance into a small hall, opening up to a large living room with a 2 and a 3 seater sofa. Smart TV and DVD player and a small selection of DVDs are provided. Fully fitted kitchen and dining room table that seats 6 persons. Fridge freezer, microwave, washing machine and all other appliances expected in a generic kitchen are all available for use. Bathroom, Shower and bath, towels, shower gel, shampoo and conditioner are there for your use if you so require. Master bedroom, double bed with tv, wardrobe and drawers. Second bedroom, single bed and drawers. We have also provided a fold away collapsible single bed (with extra bedding) that can be positioned in the living room for a fourth guest. Exterior, a raised decking area, with bench and chiminea for guests use. There is a secure lockable space for a couple of bikes should you need it. Parking, a large public car park is next to the apartment, you may also if feeling brave, park outside through the tunnel, however I take no responsibility, should you damage your vehicle in the process.

    All local amenities.
  • This is a fab little place in the heart of a beautiful village. Places to try: Chinley Cheese, the tea shop 3 doors down, The Old Hall and of course Rollies pizza! (seriously, try the pizzas they are so good). Paul is a great host, very responsive if you have any questions or issues. The apartment has all of the basics and is right in the centre of the village. Don't worry about noise though, it's pretty quiet. There are tons of beautiful walks up the hill, or along the canal if you're feeling less energetic. There isn't dedicated parking but we didn't have any problem parking close by.

  • A clean and comfortable Airbnb property. It was perfect for our walk from Edale (just 20 mins away). The Lamb in (5 mins away) was a great choice for food too. Only slight down-side is the property is accessed through the pizza shop but it's noisy. Good value for money for 2 bedrooms.

  • We have stayed in many homes/cottages over the years with varying degrees of enjoyment. Sue & Richards home was quite simply one of the very best we have stayed in. Location for the Peak District & Manchester was prefect. The home itself was stunning. Loads of space, great up to date amenities, everywhere was very clean. A big bonus is the two local pubs, both a five mins walk with great food, drinks and a warm welcome from all the locals. Also with walking, cycling routes within two mins of the property you will never be bored if you like the outdoors. Then within a short drive you have the rest of the peak district with its lovely towns & villages plus a little further away by car or train Manchester. We wouldnt hesitate to return to thsi excellent property. Thanks Sue & Richard.

    Duncan2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • Richard and Sue’s home is a wonderful base to explore the Peak District, we enjoyed waking in the surrounding area. The house itself is beautiful and was spotlessly clean. The extra little details including the welcome pack and tips for the local area were a lovely touch. We particularly enjoyed lunch at the old Hall Inn. We would love to return in the future and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this property to others.

    Harriet2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • All communication with Richard was prompt and concise, on arrival we found the property to be absolutely immaculate. They’d thought of every detail to make our stay as comfortable as possible, fluffy towels, crisp white bedding, stylish decor, fabulous welcome pack, I could go on. The village pubs that were recommended lived up to expectation, we had a gorgeous Sunday Roast at the Old hall and the Street food at the Paper mill was great, with really nice local beers. Fabulous area to explore whether walking or cycling straight from the door. We spent a day at Lady Bower Reservoir, a beautiful unspoilt area for walking or cycling, a must if you have time. We will be back to explore the area further.

    Mandy2020-01-15T00:00:00Z
  • Spotlessly clean and well equipped with all the conveniences of a modern property. The location is ideal for visiting local attractions, with walks and cycle rides straight from the door and so much more within easy striking distance. We found it an ideal base for visiting family and friends in the area. Children who can confidently cycle will enjoy a ride along the tramway trail and the newly refurbished village playground is worth a visit with younger travellers. The Sett Valley Tail and Manifold Way also provided easy family friendly cycling for our children. Sue and Richard offered a warm welcome and lots of mod cons. They trust their guests to take care of their home as they would and it was lovely to come back to a cosy house with lots of space to spread out in. We think this property would suit families with older children in particular.

‘The Little House’ is a traditional terraced stone millworker’s cottage on the edge of New Mills, on the way to Hayfield village, Kinder Scout, and generally known as the Gateway to The Peaks. New Mills offers a full range of amenities to ensure your stay is comfortable and convenient, as well as preserving a wealth of local heritage and traditions of the area. The house is pleasantly decorated and traditionally furnished, with a wood burning stove as well as gas central heating.
Spacious rooms, comfortably accommodating four and a baby, offering all the comforts you will want after busy days exploring the local area in all seasons or simply relaxing ‘at home’. Close proximity to all local amenities, including friendly hostelries and cafés where you are sure to receive a warm welcome. Well equipped kitchen with a welcome pack provided to make you feel at home.
I chose to retire to this area after many years living and working in the South East. The natural unspoilt beauty of the area is unrivalled and there is an abundance of interesting heritage to explore. I enjoy The Peaks in all seasons and moods and invite you to do likewise!
  • Helen is a wonderful host going way above and beyond expectations.

    Damien2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Helen was a lovely and very attentive host which is very reassuring when travelling with children. The house had lots of care and attention, everything guests need is catered for and it's been decorated beautifully, really cosy. The location of New Mills could not be better for exploring both Manchester and The Peaks. New Mills is a really interesting place to visit for its part in the industrial revolution, they provide a lovely walk and heritage centre for a couple of hours if you don't mind hills! The only thing I would change about the house is to put triple glazing on the front bedroom window as road is busier outside than I expected. Views to the rear are gorgeous rolling hills which was a lovely surprise. We were very comfortable and happy here :)

    Jessica2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Helen is always the perfect host making sure everything is ready and check-in is smooth and painless. The stay was brilliant. The house is lovely and cosy nestled away in the Derbyshire hills.

    Damien2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Always amazing staying at Helen’s. Nothing is too much trouble and she always goes above and beyond to make our stay as pleasant as possible. The kids live it. Cannot wait to visit again.

  • Helen is an exceptionally good host. Better than any that I’ve had before. She’s very accommodating and she will go out of her way to help. I can’t wait to visit again.

  • Helen is a wonderful and friendly host. Her house is to a good standard with lots of nice touches. Lovely rural location and a nicely heated cosy house.

    Damien2019-12-15T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at Helen's place over the weekend. It is an amazing house, cosy and warm. Helen left some food for us so we could have a yummy supper and breakfasts. The house is very well equipped, very clean and warm, beds very comfortable. we would definitely recommend Helen's place to those who like hiking and those who spend more time at home :)

    Katarzyna2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • A top-notch stay! The cottage was warm and cozy, beautifully decorated and fully equipped with everything you need for a great stay. Helen was a great host, excellent communication, then left us to it. We particularly appreciated the thoughtful touches for children including a black out blind, a baby gate and lovely children's books. There's a busy road out the front but the view over the fields out the back was gorgeous. It was a great location for us to get in to Manchester for the day and also tour around bits of the lovely Peak district. Overall, highly recommended!

  • This is THE place to get if you want to get away from it all. From the moment you pass through the gate, you feel like you're in a private villa with the million-dollar view to match. Even though it's a cozy older building, it's decked out with all the modern amenities you could ask for. Also, an indoor sauna, a jacuzzi, AND an outdoor hot tub? Can't beat that!

Chinley is situated in the Blackbrook Valley, on the western edge of the Peak District National Park. To the North is Cracken Edge, to the East is Brown Knoll, to the South is Eccles Pike and to the North-East are South Head and Mount Famine. If you prefer to explore a flatter landscape The Peak District Canal is accessible via Bugsworth Basin or there is the Sett Valley Trail in New Mills. • Very happy and very clean. Host was lovely and very helpful and so nice. We will be back.

    Zoe2020-03-14T00:00:00Z
  • Foxfield Cottage is lovely and has all you need including microwave, toaster and washing machine and powder, and a line and good breeze for drying. It’s a lovely location with great views. There’s a great shower, and you can take a bath too. The cottage has very good heating and feels warm and cosy, and in the summer there are lots of windows to open for a through breeze. Very clean place and very nice towels and bedding. New Smithy is a cosy hamlet, so parking isn’t an issue. The very quiet lane towards the very cute little horse and the impressive hill of South Head and other footpaths leave yards from the cottage. There’s an impressive brood of interesting chickens at the start of the lane too. Closest pub, less than a mile, is in Chinley and has a pool table. Just over a mile away is the Aldi - open 'til 10 - on the edge of Chapel en le Frith – you could even walk to the shop as there’s a pavement all the way. Plenty of pubs to choose from in Chapel en le Frith. For those who like trains, the main line from Manchester to Sheffield and some great bridges are nearby. Good base for a Kinder Scout adventure too. And An easy ride of 30mins to central Manchester via Chinley station, less than a mile away. Some of you could hit Arndale, and others hit the slopes of Kinder! Host lives very locally and encourages you to knock on her door for any bit of help and advice - she says a bit of loudness is not at all an issue as the cottage has very think walls, and is semi-detached. Mary is very friendly has two lovely medium sized well behaved dogs, also friendly, and can tell you about local walks including how to walk up, or some of the way up, South Head, the nearby hill with amazing views; a very hospitable and understanding host who communicates well online and likes to talk to her guests. I swear Mary would find you an iron, a hair dryer etc 'just like that' if was needed. I’m looking forward to heading back for another stay

    Rufus2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • We had an amazing stay in the cottage, it was clean, warm and well equipped. Mary gave us great tips on walking from the cottage and good places to eat in the village. Myself and the two friends I stayed with all agreed we would stay again.

  • A lovely, cosy cottage with well equipped kitchen and good shower. A great location for walking.

    Louise2020-02-23T00:00:00Z

  • Lovely warm cottage, well equipped, great base for local walks.

    James2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Nice spacious accommodation in a quaint location. Ideal for exploring the area. Mary provided several little extras, such as kitchen and toiletry amenities and a bed for the dog.

    Dylan2020-01-26T00:00:00Z

Wendy did everything to make our stay as comfortable as possible - offering us lots of local tips, recommendations and we had some lovely chats during our stay. She even laid out some toast in the mornings and said we could help ourselves to tea, coffee etc. Such a perfect stay and I will stay with Wendy again next time I visit the area!

With Cracken Edge Barn you have many public footpaths right on your doorstep, and the views are stunning. If you want to see more pics and follow life at the barn then check our our Instagram feed @crackenedgebarn If you just fancy cosying up by the wood burning stove, there is a comfy leather chair and a sofa to relax on as well as underfloor heating to keep nice and toasty! Sheffield is 45 mins on the train and Manchester is 35 mins.
  • Wow. What an absolute GEM of a place! Sarah and Chris have done an outstanding job of making Cracken Edge barn feel like a home away from home whilst also feeling like a touch of luxury. My boyfriend and I spent 2 nights at the barn with our 2 dogs and within moments of arriving wanted to book our next visit. Everything is as described, and the little hamper of local goodies was a wonderful treat. We decided to spend the entire weekend at the barn and chose to walk to Hayfield and back again as a day trip after deciding the route thanks to one of the OS maps in the barn. The barn is perfect for a visit with dogs as there are plenty of walks on the doorstep. We especially loved the log burning stove for the cold and rainy nights. Check in and communication were absolutely faultless. Would absolutely recommend for a stay in the Peak District. Thankyou Sarah and Chris!

    Anna2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • We would recommend this well fitted out, new, modern, warm, cosy, very equipped barn, surrounded with fantastic walks and views. Close to a nice village with two fantastic pubs 20 minute walk away. They we very accommodating and put some lovely touches in the barn. We would love to return.

    Louise2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • It was a privilege to be the first guests to stay here. This is an impressive conversion, in a stunning location. A true home from home with everything you need to instantly relax and unwind. Walk onto the hillside from the front door, climb the paths further upwards and soak in the vast and wild views. And then return to the fireside in the barn and warm up. Pure bliss. I’ve stayed in a fair few Airbnbs - with and without my dog (this time with) - and it was amongst the most memorable places I’ve visited. Congratulations Sarah and Chris on creating a true gem.

A lovely room in a family home in a Peak District village with Kinder Scout and Hayfield within walking distance. The bedroom has a TV and DVD player and the bed can either be two singles or a super king-size. The bathroom is shared and you are welcome to use the kitchen. The village has two great pubs, which serve food and a few shops. I am a fully qualified acupuncturist and massage therapist and have a clinic room at home, so if you fancy a relaxing treatment during your stay, please enquire!
This is a family home and whilst it is often just myself, sometimes my partner and my sons are here. My main requirement is that guests are not noisy, especially at night and first thing in the morning - I like a quiet start! Other than that, I'm pretty easygoing. I have a washing machine and tumble dryer in the garage which are available during your stay, should you need them .
There are some nice little towns and villages within striking distance of my home including Castleton, Bakewell and Chatsworth house - all of which are worth visiting. But, for me, the most important aspect of Chinley is that it is surrounded by spectacular countryside - ideal for walkers and mountain-bikers.
  • Simply incredible. The house is cute and cosy, the room calm and clean. Lisa and Mathew are a rare example of care, sweetness and attention. I would recommend staying there 100% for the house, the location, but even more so, them two. The best.

Silkstone Cottage is situated on the outskirts of the small ancient market town of Chapel- en-le- Frith, “Capital of the Peak District”. Pubs/restaurants/shops 10 minute walk. Train 3 mins drive away with links to Manchester, Sheffield Airport. Bus stop 10 mins walk away.
Having just undergone extensive renovation, to an exceptionally high standard, Silkstone Cottage was part of a 180 year old public house, “The Jolly Carter” which this year has been converted back into the former three cottages which existed before it was a pub !! Everything in the house is new. Towels/tea towels and bed linen provided. Superbly situated, the property is a three minute drive from Chapel en le Frith train station which for international visitors has a direct link to the train station within Manchester Airport via Stockport and a direct line to Manchester Picadilly (about 35 minutes). There is also a bus from the Airport to Chapel en le Frith and the bus stop is a 5 minute walk away from the cottage. Accommodation Silkstone Cottage sleeps 4 - in two bedrooms (one double, one twin). There is room in each bedroom for a travel cot (which we have available) Large kitchen equipped with dishwasher, washing machine, microwave, fridge freezer and all kitchen and dining equipment. Well behaved children and dogs are welcome in most establishments. Chapel-en-le-Frith translates as “Chapel in the Forest” - the “Chapel” being the old Norman Church which still stands in the Market Square – with the original stocks. The forest has been replaced over the years by lovely old stone cottages. Market day is still Thursday (but is no longer a cattle market!!!). The Market Place was recently filmed in the BBC drama “The Village”. The Kings Arms was the old pub and the cobbles were all covered with dirt !! A very exciting time for Chapel !!! The lovely villages of Chinley & Whitehough are about 3 minutes drive away and boast the most beautiful (and best) pub award in Derbyshire every year; a medieval manor house, with the most beautiful walled garden - “The Old Hall” which serves consistently excellent food and very special wines and beers. Chinley has an amazing BYO Indian Restaurant (take your own drink – no corkage charge), a wonderful cheese shop/post office, tea rooms and a pizza and fresh pasta deli. Shopping - Morrisons supermarket is a 1 minute drive. Whaley Bridge is a 5 minute drive with a Tesco. There are shops, pubs and restaurants in Whaley.. Manchester and Stockport are a 25 minute drive away. We love dogs and pets are welcome by arrangement . There are fantastic walks from the house to “dog friendly” pubs. Most of the pubs in the area welcome well behaved dogs. The Old Hall and The Papermill pubs in the hamlet of Whitehough, Chinley (4 mins by car, 40 mins walking) - beautiful old buildings which serve fantastic food & beer with a gorgeous walled beer garden. A lovely walk along the old tram lines by the canal is the Navigation Pub in the historic Bugsworth Basin and this walk continues along the to Marple and Marple Bridge. The beautiful village of Hayfield is nearby and the old spa town of Buxton with its spectacular Opera House is a 10 minute drive away. A walkers and cyclists paradise - there are fantastic walks and cycle trails from the doorstep and being in the Peak district and within 5 minutes drive of Kinder Scout National Nature reserve, close to Edale, Castleton with it's famous caves and mines, and Hope Valley is an ideal base for walkers and cyclists and climbers. Chapel en le Frith Golf Course is a beautiful 18 hole golf course with magnificient views over Combs Reservoir a 3 minute drive away. Nearby attractions include Chatsworth House & Estate, Castleton – Blue John Mines and underground caverns by boat, the famous Bakewell, Ladybarn Reservoir, Buxton Pavillion Gardens and Opera House. Children will love the Heights of Abraham and Gulliver’s Kingdom at Matlock Bath and the Tissington and Monsall trails which are easy, flat walks (or cycles – cycles can be hired at the trails) along old railway tracks. Silkstone Cottage is new on the market this summer, but we also have another holiday let, Forge Cottage in nearby Chinley, which we have welcomed visitors to for a few years now. We have had some lovely guests and have had some amazing feedback, so if you want to see how we look after our guests check out our reviews.
Although on the edge of the village adjacent to the open countryside, the cottage is within walking distance (10-15 mins) of lovely pubs/restaurants/shops.

  • A lovely cottage which is in a great place for walks and exploring the Peak District. The place is clean and the kitchen is well-stocked. Terry is a great host and provided us with lots of local walks, tips and recommendations for places to eat locally. The only thing to be aware of is there is a main road right at the back of the house which can get quite noisy.

    Helen2019-10-13T00:00:00Z

  • What a great little house. it had everything we needed for our hiking weekend. The fittings are all modern and clean and the beds were comfy. Lots of towels in the bathroom and bits and pieces in the kitchen. Great location for exploring the Dark Peak area.

  • Really well located for exploring the Peak District

    Louise2019-07-24T00:00:00Z
  • Terry's place is amazing. Its absolutely perfect for a weekend in the High Peak. Everything exactly as (or better than) described. From the minute we booked Terry's communication and information was fantastic. She was even able to recommend a trusted local babysitter. For a hassle free stay in the High Peak I can't recommend Silkstone Cottage enough.

  • Definitely recommended - cosy and comfortable.

    Martin2019-04-25T00:00:00Z
  • The studio was very easy to find and met good specifications. Footpaths over to Kinder area can be accessed directly from the rear of the property, as well as a path into Hayfield (although there is quite a climb on the way back). Definitely a place for walkers. The studio was beautifully clean, the shower was nice and hot and the bed comfortable. WiFi and TV signal OK. Everything we needed could be found in the kitchen area. Great place for two plus dog. For a flatter walk, there is an easy trail from Hayfield - the Sett Valley Trail, which has a convenient café just under half way to New Mills. Hayfield itself has good pubs and a chippy which we sampled. Great all round and to be recommended. Linda was easily contactable and quick to respond. Would be happy to return in the future.

    Tracy2019-04-22T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay in Linda and Keith’s studio. It was extremely clean with lots of special added touches to make our stay truly wonderful. Everything we could have wanted was provided for and Linda was particularly generous about letting her know if there was anything else we might need. The location is ideal with many fabulous walks right on the doorstep. We will be sure to spread the word of Linda and Keith’s generous hospitality to all our friends and can’t recommend them enough. Thank you for a lovely holiday!

The cottage is a one bedroom 2 story converted wash house situated in the gardens of former station that was dismantled and rebuilt as a house in a rural location in 1901.
The location is ideal for country and walking get aways and is easily accessible by train from Manchester or Sheffield. The house is of local historical significance since the station was taken apart and rebuilt about half a mile from Chinley in 1901. There is also a Victorian greenhouse purchased from the 1904 Paris exhibition.
The cottage is situated behind the main house off a quiet country road 10 minutes walk from Chinley village. In the village is a shop, a cafe, an Indian takeaway, a pizza shop with small eat-in area and a chip shop. The post office sells cheese and local products. Pubs are within a 20 minute walk or short drive. The Old Hall pub was recently listed as among the top 25 pubs in England and Wales (best to book for food on a Friday or Saturday). Also the Lamb serves food and the Paper Mill serves pizza from Thursday to Sunday. Morrisons and Aldi are in Chapel-en-le-Frith about 2-3 miles drive. There are many more pubs and restaurants in Buxton and Chapel-en-le-Frith.
  • You will have a warm welcome to this delightful and tastefully cottage. Jill and Dave have made a comfy hideaway with lots of lovely treats for breakfast. No need to bring your favourite knife or tea towel- it is so well equipped. We loved the chickens who greeted us through the window each morning . The area is stunningly beautiful and plenty of opportunities for walking. We recommend it unreservedly.

    Frances2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • A gem of a place run by the perfect hosts. Beautifully set up, full of both the promised (eggs, bread and jam) and unexpected (sweets and fruit) provisions, this cottage is an ideal escape. Warm, comfortable and cosy. Well located for walks, for which you can set off from the doorstep, Castleton, Edale, Bakewell and the surrounding areas. The hosts were welcoming, a company when I needed human interaction, otherwise left me be. There are fowl of different varieties as well as the cutest dogs (best for animal lovers) in the garden and main house - not in the cottage... I’ve had a great time!

    Iwona2019-10-26T00:00:00Z
  • The Cottage proved to be the ideal base for my 4-night stay while I was doing music stuff in Buxton, and, becasue I was born and bred just rund the corner, to catch up with old friends. I was given a warm welcome by Dave, who showed me the ropes. The Cottage was comfortable and as warm as toast (important for mid-October) and equipped with everything you could possibly need. Chinley station is about a 15 min walk away with regular trains into Manchester, a journey of 33 mins. Sheffield is reached in the other direction. But defintiely the highlight were the hens and their feathered friends. Each morning I'd spot them from the kitchen window and sure enough, within a few minutes, there they were peering in at the living-room window. Delightful, not to mention the delicious eggs left for me. I'm sure I'll be back to reacquaint myself with my new best friends before long. Recommended!

    Philip2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay at Naze cottage, Jill and Dave were excellent hosts, they gave us really good directions to find the place and the cottage itself was cosy and so well equipped. Really nice walks around the area and we will definitely be back again!

    Sally2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • We were one of the first visitors back in 2017 and have just been back for the third year running. This place is perfect for exploring the Peak District. No need to pack breakfast supplies as there’s always plenty on hand. Bed is super comfy and the whole place is lovely and warm and cosy. The chickens make for fun company peering in through the window. We hope to be back again!

    Rachael2019-10-11T00:00:00Z
  • Jill and Dave's place is beautiful, clean, well-decorated and equjipped, exactly matching expectations. Located on the edge of the village, yet with a distinctly rural feel due to the chickens, ducks and peacocks that roam freely in the garden. The cottage is at the back of the house, so Jill and Dave are always on hand to help when needed, or just for a chat (they're a very friendly couple!). We were generously provided with breakfast and snacks and more supplies were always available. And of course, there are eggs - all you can eat!

    Janet2019-09-28T00:00:00Z
  • Location is spot on, lovely warm and cosy cottage. Great place if you want to discover Peak District. No complaints at all. Would visit again if we’re in the area.

A stones throw from both the Torrs Riverside Park and the Sett Valley trail, this is a cosy end of terrace house that has been recently renovated. An ideal base for walkers, bikers and climbers who are wanting to explore the stunning local area of the Peak District.
The house has been renovated to a high standard to make a practical and modern home whilst still trying to retain it's old charm. The living room is a good size and offers a very large, and very comfortable sofa to relax on. Also available for use is the big freeview tv, along with xbox for dvds and netflix. There is a large kitchen complete with the usual appliances and dining table. The bedroom has solid wood furniture with a kingsize bed with memory foam mattress. Both bed-side tables are empty for your use as is the wardrobe. The bathroom is fully tiled with waterfall taps and an amazing 'rain shower head' that is great for a soak.
  • Gareth's place is lovely. Great house with lovely interior and fantastic kitchen. Very comfortable bed! Extremely clean when we arrived. Loads of useful things like washing machine, big freezer, fridge. The location is great. If you're looking for a base to explore New Mills and the surrounding area it doesn't get much better than this. Very close to train station and 5 minutes to countryside walks. All the nice touches left for the start of the stay were so kind!

  • This is a great house in a good central position in New Mills - I would not hesitate to book again. Gareth left a good selection of breakfast goods for us and we enjoyed the style of the house. The sofa is super comfortable, TV excellent and a good bed and shower. It also felt like the kitchen and bathroom had recently been installed as both were in really great condition. We enjoyed our stay here and it met our needs perfectly. Thanks Gareth.

  • Garett’s suite was clean and comfortable with a very spacious fully equipped kitchen. We enjoyed exploring the area and found the riverside park really interesting. We made a day trip to Manchester while there, which was fast and easy on the train. There’s also a decent sized grocery store near by.

  • Pretty mid terrace cottage in the small village of Buxworth. Well equipped and cosy. (stairs are quite steep to the bedrooms). Great base to go and explore the the Peak District. Plenty of local walks, pubs and cafes. Easy access via A6 to the many local tourist attractions and other areas in and around the the Peak District Thoroughly enjoyed our Christmas break and would go again.

  • Well positioned, warm, welcoming and very well equipped cottage. There are some lovely walks along the Peak Forest Canal into Whaley Bridge. Recommended.

  • We stayed at Christopher's place for the weekend when visiting my daughter in Buxton. It is nicely located in the village, was immaculately clean, comfortable and communication with Christopher was good. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

  • Beautiful cottage surrounded by stunning scenery. Several good restaurants and a great little pub within a short walk.

    Susan2019-06-11T00:00:00Z
  • A comfortable base with a decent pub (good food and real ales) very close by, with walks and cycle rides from the door and just 15 minutes drive from Castleton's caverns and Mam Tor. The cottage living room and stairs decor is white and textured, it's startlingly like being inside a Christmas cake! But once you've got used to its charm, it's very cosy with a real fire and recliner sofas. The kitchen has all you need (ok, if I'm picky, I'd have liked there to have been a dishwasher, but I'm spoiled that way) and the jacuzzi bath is a luxurious touch for when you've cycled miles round Derwent and Howden reservoirs, whilst chivvying the kids along, and need to treat your aching legs. Beds comfy, superb views from the children's room on the top floor. The host is quick to answer any queries, and certainly goes the extra mile to make you welcome (he asked us our plans and cleared out the outhouse so we could store our bikes there when he found out we were bringing them).

  • A very well located cottage for exploring the High Peak, with walks right from the door. All amenities we needed for adults and dogs were all provided. The beds are very comfortable and the whole cottage is very cosy. We loved browsing the extensive library. Take note of Marys comment regarding the steep steps at the back. We had a great stay - thank you Mary.

  • Very welcoming, friendly and helpful hosts. Ideal location for exploring, great stay for us and 3 dogs. Rural building with a modern renovation, lots of original features kept. Cosy space, well laid out and bigger than it looks on photos. One reviewer mentioned the A6 - yes if you try hard you can hear it, but on the other side of the property is Eccles Pike and stunning scenery so I guess it depends on what you want to focus on. We would definitely return, perfect hosts if you have dogs!

Neil & Caroline were very accommodating and nothing was too much bother. Very easy to get in touch with, I agree that it felt like a home from home. We had three dogs and four people which wasn't any bother, there is a sofa bed in the living room which makes another double so makes it easy for two couples to stay.

  • Wonderful surroundings and views from all the rooms of the apartment. 5 min walk from the town, with basic services, 10 min by car from large areas such as Lidl or Tesco. The new apartment, great armchairs and balcony overlooking the village and the countryside. The only detail, that you have to use the bathtub instead of the shower, and that the beds were a bit small. My husband's feet went out. As the description indicates, they do not have WiFi.

The studio is very reasonably priced, and is located in the heart of the historic village of Hayfield. The building dates back to 1840 and has a round end and as such is an iconic landmark in the villiage. Open plan kitchen /dining /living area Separate small bedroom with full size double bed and a small ensuite shower / toilet. Well behaved non malting dogs are welcome. The studio is a stone's throw to the many pubs , cafes and resturants in the village. You will not ever need to get in your car ! You have direct access into the Peak National Park from the door on foot. There is no outdoor space with the studio, however just a few yard from our door is a secluded spot with benches overlooking a waterfall on the banks of the river Sett, where you can sit and take in the nourishing air and tranquility of the river . Also there is a communal garden opposite the village hall with a waterfall view seating area at the far end . Whats not to love !😊
Hayfield is an amazing place . We have lived here for 11 years and it has a buzzing eclectic community . Hayfield also has a thriving community of creatives + artists with two galleries and excellent pubs, resturants and two cafes. Also walk down the Set Valley trail towards New Mills and stumble upon the amazing Set Valley Cafe (get there early at weekends 10 am opening ). The Spa town of Buxton is a 20 min drive and Bakewell /Chatsworth House 45 mins . The great thing about Hayfield is that you can walk directly onto the Kinder Estate and the highest peaks of the National park directly from the village . During Summer times you can sit outside the Royal Hotel or Pack Horse and bask in the evening sun with your favourite tipple and food and watch the sun go down into the hills . Magical! Food is available in The Pack Horse , The Royal Hotel , The George,The Sportsman Inn , Collosso (Italian Bistro /restaurant) There are two Cafes with a two new ones opening soon. A short walk down the Sett Valley Trail will bring you The Set Valley Cafe which is highly recommended with plenty of outdoor seating. All the pubs in Hayfield are Dog friendly. Access into the High Peak National Park and Kinder Reservoir is straight up Kinder Rd out of the Village.
  • David’s place is very stylish and cosy. It had everything we needed, special mention to the cafetières and two teapots! The village of Hayfield is very beautiful and lively. The local shop has good fresh bread and eggs. Although the place is advertised as a studio, it actually has a separate bedroom which is nice. Some previous reviews mentioned problems with the shower, but we actually thought it was completely fine once at the right setting (set the power to high, temperature 7-8).

  • Great communication. Lovely cosy studio in an amazing location. Just as described. Comfortable with all the amenities we needed. Very warm. Was always parking outside. Amazing walks direct from the studio to Kinder Scout and Snake Pass. Would thoroughly recommend the Sportsman pub - 10 mins walk - but well worth it for dog friendly, people friendly and gorgeous food/beer! Would love to return.

    Kate2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Wow what an amazing place in such a nice village, what this studio offers is a gateway to some amazing walks right on your doorstep. There is everything you will ever need in the studio from a comfortable bed to a walk-in wet room. The kitchen was fully stocked with cooking equipment and the living room very comfortable. We can't wait to stay again.

    Kevin2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Brilliant space to relax and get away from the city. Surrounded by excellent walks and excellent pubs, the perfect combination! Would highly recommend.

  • Lovely space kitted out in a retro style, lovely and cosy even in storm conditions. Hosts very helpful. Ideally located for the hills around Dark Peak area all within walking distance. Hayfield is a lovely place with ample drink and food options for a few nights stay, recommend The Sportmans myself

  • We've had a great time in Hayfield. The Woolpack Studio is a stylish and cosy place. Would visit again :)

    Katharina2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • Great studio apartment, modern and well presented. Has everything you need and is in a great location, we managed to get parked right outside. Lots of nice walks on your doorstep and places to eat and drink. The apartment was very clean with a well equipped kitchen and more than enough space for a couple of nights away. Communication with host was very good and check in and check out was straightforward

Hayfield View Chicken Barn is a luxury camping barn set in our field, in a very peaceful location yet close to a main access road. The barn has a light and airy modern decor and is stocked with all the amenities you could need for a successful self catering holiday.
The barn is upside down, with living accommodation (kitchen, breakfast table, sofa and TV) upstairs and the majority of the sleeping space (one double bed and one bunk bed - ie. two single beds, stacked) downstairs, with the shower room. We recommend the barn for groups of between 2-4 guests. The space is adaptable, offering privacy for two groups of two adults (one couple can use the bed downstairs while the other couple sleep upstairs on the sofa bed), or a cozy bedroom for parents and children (double bed and bunk beds downstairs), with a separate living area upstairs for the adults to enjoy their evening once the kids are asleep. The two floors are connected by a beautiful feature spiral staircase.
Hayfield View is one mile from the beautiful village of Hayfield and lies within the boundary of the Peak District National Park. The lane between the house and barn leads you up directly into one of the most peaceful and beautiful natural landscapes the country has to offer. You're walking distance from the foot of Kinder Scout, yet also only a short drive from local towns and attractions such as Buxton, Castleton, Chatsworth House and Bakewell.
  • Lovely little place in fantastic setting. Great to come back to after a long day walking. Homey with all the necessary amenities. Linda was exceptionally quick at responding. Overall amazing trip

    Mike2020-03-22T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful stay in a great location close to some amazing walks and sights. The place itself was lovely inside with good heating and a well-equipped kitchen. Linda was a great host and provided nice little touches such as a bottle of wine by the bedside and milk in the fridge, which made us feel well looked after. We would definitely stay here again - couldn’t recommend it any more!

    Hanna2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Views from the place are outstanding. The barn is more than adequate. I cant remember how many times I said ' I could just live here'. Perfect advice on resturants

  • We had the most wonderful stay in the barn. Everything was simply perfect. Brilliant location and felt like a home away from home. We can’t wait to come back!

    Lucy2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • We have had an amazing time at the chicken barn. We now wish that we booked more nights. The place is clean and stylish. It is also very well equipped including kitchen utensils, cleaning and beauty products, and a bbq set. It was very quiet and we could barely hear any fireworks going off on new years. The scenery is also beautiful and public footpaths are just outside the property. Extra points for being dog friendly, Biscuit enjoyed her stay just as much her owners!

    Vivien2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • Clean, cosy and homey. A real home away from home with all the little finishing touches that made it an amazing place to spend a couple of days. Linda is a fantastic host, you’d be a fool to stay anywhere else.

  • This is a superb little space which acts as a great base for exploring. We had 2 nights here and had everything we needed. Bed was comfy and shower was lovely! Hosts were available by phone at all times and very easy to communicate with. Getting to town was a short walk (10 mins). There is a Sainsbury's Local and lots of cafes and pubs - Beer Shed is definitely worth a visit! We also caught the train from New Mills Central to Hope and then walked to Castleton (hourly buses also available). The closest pub is The Packhorse which does good pub grub. The walk is short but there are no pavements so a torch and/or high vis clothing are a must if making the journey after dark (it's a 30 road but lots of people were going faster!) Overall really happy with the stay and would definitely recommend!

    Sophie2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
