Places to stay in Cherry Hill
Enjoy the sights and sounds of crashing surf and spot the resident colony of seals along over 200 feet of unspoiled oceanfront at this breezy haven on a 1 1/2 acre lot, then step into the sunken tub with stunning sea views. Pops of nautical navy and coastal accents make for a stylish seaside home.
Our home is tastefully decorated with 3 bedrooms (2 upstairs and one on the main floor), 2 bathrooms, a large open concept kitchen, living room, sunroom and a finished loft games room above the garage. The house was designed to give every opportunity of ocean views. You will not be able to miss the sights and sounds of crashing surf or admire the colony of seals that have made Apple Cove their home. The house boasts a well stocked kitchen, linens, towels, iron + ironing board, hair dryer, TV, satellite, wifi, pingpong table, beach chairs and much more. There is so much to see and do in the area but after arriving at this idyllic property you may just want to stay put.
The house is right on the Lighthouse Route, so there's easy access to all the area's attractions. Beautiful Cherry Hill Beach is just over a kilometre away. Green Bay Beach, Rissers Beach and Crescent Beach are all within a 15-minute drive. There are excellent hiking trails at Gaff Point for the nature enthusiast. The house is a 90-minute drive the spectacular Peggy's Cove Lighthouse.
  • We had an exceptional stay at Lori’s house. We really felt at home, except it is even better decorated than home. Nothing was missing, the house is quiet and the location and views very peaceful. It was perfect with our 21 month old son, we enjoyed good family time to explore this part of Nova Scotia. We discovered great hikes and beaches just a short drive away.

  • Lovely location with great views. The open-plan living space was especially well thought out.

  • We very much enjoyed our restorative 13-night stay in this beautiful, spacious, comfortable and welcoming home. The house has been lovingly designed and beautifully set up for guests. Every amenity you could possibly want for a relaxing holiday sojourn has been anticipated and provided. We found the house sparkling clean, with the best-equipped kitchen of any place we’ve rented, thoughtful touches such as a basket of treats set out for us, and lots of information about places to go and things to do in the area. The owners left a welcoming note, writing that they hoped our stay would be wonderful—and it was! As lovely and comfortable as the house is, the best feature by far is the scenery. As soon as you walk in the front door, you see through the kitchen, with its wide bank of windows, to a private, tree-framed ocean vista. Wall-to-wall windows in both cosy sitting rooms also look out over the gorgeous ocean view. The upstairs bathroom features a large elevated tub, and enjoying a leisurely soak while taking in the sight and sound of the waves rolling in may be the second-best thing to do on the South Shore! (The best thing is walking along Cherry Hill beach—see below.) I loved the way this art-filled house highlights the original work of Maritime artists and craftspeople. As to the location: it’s an easy, picturesque drive along the Lighthouse Route to beautiful towns such as Mahone Bay and Lunenburg (highly recommended: don’t take the quickest route to Lunenburg. It’s worth taking the ferry across the river at LaHave and then taking the 332 for a gorgeous drive along the shore). Nearby Risser’s beach is great for swimming, and also has a pretty boardwalk trail through a salt marsh. We stopped several times at the LaHave Bakery for breakfast, lunch and treats, taking our food out to the end of the dock so we could gaze over the river at yet another picturesque view while enjoying a tasty meal. Cherry Hill is very quiet at night (plus, if you’re lucky, you will get a clear night and re-discover what a star-filled sky looks like). The best part of our stay here was the proximity to nearby Cherry Hill beach, with its austere beauty and fabulous seaside walks. There are never more than a few people at a time on this vast beach (check online tide charts so you can figure out the best times to go). Lori was an exceptionally attentive host, responding quickly to emails in the process of arranging our stay and to any questions we had while at the house. It’s clear that she truly wants her guests to enjoy their time in her home and to learn to love the South Shore as her family has—which is easily accomplished!

  • Exactly as expected and more!! So much space, super clean, staple pantry / household items stocked up to make the stay feel homey. Highly recommend, you will not be disappointed!

  • We knew we were about to have an extraordinary retreat when we stepped into the doors - Lori and Will have created such a beautiful home. We immediately felt welcomed. The home is very spacious and great for family (game room with ping pong table was awesome) The windows that span the back of the home gives you a gorgeous view of the ocean. They truly put lots of heart and detail into this home. We loved it here! If you’re going this way, this is a great place to stay!

  • We are a family of 5 including 3 twenty-somethings and fully enjoyed our stay at the Cherry Hill Beach house. There was more than enough room for individual and together time, including a games room! At first this one might appear “far” down the shore, but the scenic drive and the experience you can have is definitely worth the trip. if you are looking for a high end yet casual, private spot which is fully updated right on the ocean with an amazing beach just down the road, this is the place!

    Dana2019-07-27T00:00:00Z
  • An excellent hub for those looking to explore the Southern Shore, tour the lighthouse route, experience great beaches and local artisans. It was nice to return home to a beautiful spacious beach house topped off with the sound of the surf. Thanks Lori!

  • This is an amazing AirBnB. It ranks as one of the top AirBnB’s I have rented. So many ‘extras!’ The hosts have thought of everything. Loved exploring the area. The locals are so friendly! A wonderful way to start summer!

  • Kelly’s house is charming, comfortable and well provisioned for a fun stay.

  • We stayed a second time at Seas The Day and found that we loved it just as much. We saw that they had made a few small improvements that made our stay even more comfortable. It's not a far drive from Rissers beach. I recommend going there. It's a nice beach.

  • This small cottage is a true paradise which is located near the sea. It is very clean and has everything you need during a trip. We enjoyed our stay and I highly recommend this place for the holidays! A big thank you for these beautiful moments and for the little attentions made to us! Katéri and Yannick

  • Kelly was amazing with helping us through our stay. She provided us with plenty of local tips and helped us through the process of picking a beach to go to (since there are so many near by). Very beautiful cottage, we felt right at home.

  • A sweet colorful cottage with everything you need for a getaway. The big island in kitchen open to a long table is perfect for gathering with family. The cottage is well stocked with towels, linens, beach blankets, games everything you need and then some. Close to beautiful beaches for exploring: Cherry Hill & Broad Cove are only a few minutes away and Rissers and Crescent beaches are only 15 minutes. Cottage has a wood stove for cozy evenings in. We had a great time and will definitely seek out this accommodation for future stays.

  • This is a small but nice home that fit our needs (father/daughter trip). We found the location to be really good for what we had in mind to do. It's close to the road, however it's a very quiet road.

Come for a magical getaway in our hand crafted cabin. Tucked away in the woods along side a babbling brook. Enjoy morning coffee on the deck, BBQ your dinner overlooking the river, groove to our vintage record collection, keep toasty by the wood stove and float in the hot tub under the stars. This is a luxurious cabin experience you won't forget! For peace of mind, please see the precautions we are taking to ensure guest safety during the coronavirus outbreak below.
In light of COVID19, we are taking extra precautions with our Airbnb Cabin to ensure it is both safe for you to stay in and to give you peace of mind in this uncertain time so you can enjoy your stay care free. The cabin is such a wonderful escape right now and it is beautiful to be relaxing next to the river, walking around in the woods, floating in the hot tub under the stars and barbequing on the deck! First of we are asking all of our guests if they have been outside the country in the last 14 days or are showing any symptoms that they must notify us. Please let us know if either of these apply to you and we will process a refund. In addition, we are following all of the Health Canada guidelines and appropriately disinfecting and cleaning the entire cabin, bathroom, hot tub and everywhere with extra effort and care to meet and exceed the required standards. We have thoroughly researched the safety of the hot tub as well, the Centre for Disease Control and Prevention states that there is no risk of contracting the coronavirus through the use of a hot tub or pool. In addition to this, for each guest we completely drain the hot tub, rinse it and re-fill it with new fresh water from the river. The cabin is such a beautiful place in the forest to relax, enjoy nature and escape. We are sure you will enjoy your stay. Thank you, Peter & Paula ------ Listing Details: Welcome to the cabin! We've spent 3 years building this cabin by hand to create a unique and magical vacation spot for you. It truly is a luxury forest hideaway. From the moment you walk in you feel at home, it is cozy and relaxing while offering all the modern amenities you need. The 100 foot long board walk welcomes you into the forest. The cabin is surrounded, 360 degrees, with decks and covered porch. A magical babbling brook called "Penny Brook" runs down the full length of the property and can be seen from cozy couch inside. The cabin is a timber famed open concept cabin with a full height loft. Upstairs the bedroom is tucked under a roof of skylights and from the queen sized bed you can see the stars at night. The kitchen is well equipped and we offer coffee and tea plus all the basic kitchen amenities you could ask for. We have high speed wifi, a turntable and record collection, a wood stove, high-end linens and a detached bathhouse with running water and a beautiful shower. The bathroom is built as a separate building a few steps across the deck from the main cabin. It has a nice glass shower with a big window looking out into the forest and two shower heads. We have a hand built wood fired hot tub tucked in the woods by the river just steps from the cabin. The tub will be filled with water and ready to light a fire in when you arrive. The cabin is perfect for weekend retreats, romantic nights, anniversaries, winter getaways, celebrations, beach going summer holidays, escaping the city and spending time tucked in the forest. It is a great year-round escape.

  • Amazing and very unique place to stay. The setting is incredible: nestled in the woods beside a beautiful and health brook - very private. Has all the amenities and is very comfortable, relaxed and clean. Charcoal bbq worked great and the decks are spacious. Would certainly stay here again.

  • Such a special place! This was the best Airbnb I’ve stayed in and I cannot express how beautiful and intimate it was. The hosts were lovely, and the spot was very clean, modern and cozy. Highly recommend!

  • Great spot- definitely coming back!

    Kelly2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Staying at Peter and Paula's was by far the best cabin rental experience we've had to date. Where other places have fell short in years' past, their cabin delivered in spades. The wood fired hot tub was a bonus on top of an already amazing cabin-in-the-woods experience. We will absolutely be returning for years to come!

    Scott2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing getaway. From the warmth of the timberframe to the record collection, you won't regret booking Paula and Peter's place. Falling asleep to the crackle of the woodstove and the song of the creek flowing by was just what we needed for a couple of nights. We will be back!

Charming small shingle cottage recently renovated(550sq.ft)., just steps from the ocean and from a fresh water pond. Located in Upper Kingsburg, on the Atlantic South Shore, 20 minutes away from Lunenburg, a UNESCO World Heritage Site – with its narrow streets and unique architecture. Delightfully renovated, the cottage has 4 rooms and bathroom on main floor. Two bedrooms, deck and terrace, outdoor shower, large grass-covered land at the back with lake and ocean views.
The minimum rental is one week from saturday to saturday. The cottage is located in a peaceful rural area and offers swimming and hiking facilities nearby. In Hirtles Beach and Gaff Point you will find more than three kilometers of white sand, rolling surf, fresh sea air, drumlin cliffs and breathtaking views, protected by Kingsburg Coastal Conservancy.
  • Excellent rental to rest in a place where nature is generous, also near the sea. You can even hear the waves of the ocean in calm weather, from the cottage. Gilbert is excellent advice and is available as needed. In short, this cottage is a rare pearl that I highly recommend.

  • The cabin was exactly what we expected from the message exchanges we had with Jill from the start. She was very quick in responding to all our queries and concerns regarding the access, which turned out to be an easy thing to manage (tide schedule). Nicely located, beautiful inside design and open space, quiet and peaceful setting... what more can we ask. Looking forward to another stay.

  • Our family had an amazing time at the cottage and were really taken with the beauty of the LaHave islands. The location offered a secluded place to enjoy the local beaches and coast while still being close to some day trips. Lunenberg is about 30 mins away and Peggy's Cove (if you're ambitious is 1.5 hours). The local shops and bakery in LaHave are also worth a visit! The cottage itself was really charming and comfortable. Thank you Faith-Anne!

This year-round home is in one of Nova Scotia's most beautiful areas, the South Shore. Known for its abundant beaches, restaurants, shopping and music there is something for everyone!
Heron's Rest is a quaint tiny home nestled in the woods on just over an acre beside one of the largest set of rapids on the Petite River. Located just 1.5 hours from Halifax, this quiet and private rental is just off the main road giving quick access to the wide range of local interest and activities. It's the perfect location for a romantic getaway for two or a personal retreat. The house is fully equipped with a wood -burning fireplace (wood is included), fridge, stove, dishwasher and laundry facilities. It will sleep 2 in the main bedroom queen-sized bed. The large deck which overlooks the river is accessed off the kitchen and includes a BBQ and outdoor dining facilities. Guests can enjoy a quiet evening on the deck listening to the river and watching the stars or build a bonfire in the riverside fire pit. This is a wonderful community close to local beaches, steeped with history and full of charm. Petite Riviere is just a few minutes away and has a general store (complete with liquor store). Have one of their wonderful cups of coffee and enjoy a few minutes on their deck sharing a "yarn" with the locals. Please note that there is no public transit here.
This is truly a Nova Scotia neighbourhood combining locals who have lived here for over 8 generations and those "Come from aways" (CFA's) who have chosen Nova Scotia as their home. It is full of art, music, nature and wonderful people.
  • This cottage is absolutely perfect for a quiet retreat. The sound of the river is comforting and the view is absolutely amazing! Sherry has done a fantastic job ensuring the property is immaculate! The table in front of the large window overlooking the river is a wonderful addition. This is our 2nd trip to this cottage and it won’t be our last!

  • We booked for three nights, and while packing up on Sunday, decided we really weren't ready to leave, and extended our stay. It was such a special time, and we look forward to returning in the summer months.

  • If you are looking for a place to unwind and relax, look no further, this is the spot. Gorgeous river setting that you can see and hear from the cottage. Be sure to take a walk down the path to the river and out onto the rock path by the water. This is the best view of the rapids! Everything that you need is here. We brought our meals and cooked there. Then you dine at a beautiful handcrafted table overlooking the river. There was plenty of firewood for the wood stove. Such a cozy spot. Definitely highly recommend!

  • My wife and I have now stayed in Heron's Rest about half a dozen times, in winter, spring and early summer. We've found no better secluded spot within 90 minutes of Halifax. We appreciate and enjoy the closeness of the rapids-rattling river, the cozy kitchen, the wood stove, and the proximity to Risser's Beach, Crescent Beach, Broad Cove, LaHave, and other locations. You won't regret booking Heron's Rest.

  • We enjoyed our stay very much and definitely plan on going back. The hot tub was amazing and we enjoyed a lovely sunrise on the deck. The compost toilet wasn't bad at all. Only thing we missed was a shower.

  • Nice little place. Exactly as described. Loved it!

    Lynne2019-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful and cosy space. There is no running water, so we had to be a bit creative and flexible around showering at the local campsite. Host helped by doing dishes for us every day. The hot tub was the main hit!

  • Great place with amazing views! Hospitality is always great as well! The perfect little get away!

  • Nancy was a great host. Everything looked as described. The place is charming and very clean. When I made the reservation I mentioned that my husband and I were celebrating our Anniversary. Nancy cheered us up with a bottle of sparkling wine. We had a wonderful time at Nancy’s. I highly recommend this place

  • What a wonderfully charming place! It is so evident that a lot of thought, creativity and love went into the decor. The location is fabulous and so serene. Bev and John have thought of everything in terms of the amenities in the cottage. We spent 4 wonderful days using the cottage as a base for visiting friends. This is the best airbnb we have ever stayed in. It is truly "home away from home". Each day we noticed a new and interesting decoration. So fun! We will be back. Thank you for sharing your beautiful cottage with us.

    Patricia2019-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • Great place, right by the river and extremely clean!

    Peter2019-09-26T00:00:00Z
  • This beautifully located cabin is a real gem. Waking up after a quiet night in the comfortable bed and step out into the sun on the sunny deck, overlooking the river, already makes your day. We loved how quick and easy the communication with Bev & John was, when we spontaneously decided to stay in the area for a few days during our Nova Scotia trip. The cabin is very charming, spotlessly clean and very well equipped. We definitely recommend this place and would stay there again if we are lucky enough to come back to Nova Scotia one day. Thank you so much Bev & John for everything.

    Carla2019-09-16T00:00:00Z
  • It is a lovely and cozy cottage. It is sparkling clean, and the bed is comfortable. The house has an amazing view of the LaHave River. We arrived at the day when hurricane passing through the area, so the house was out of power and water. However, Bev and John are so helpful, and offered us a lot of help. John came over the next day to bring us tones of water, candles, matches, propane gas stove, and make sure we are all good. John kept providing us updates till the power was back. We really enjoy this place even though there were no power and water for part of time. John and Bev are so nice and accommodating. This is the nicest place we have stayed during our 2 weeks east coast road trip. We love to stay in the cottage again if we ever get a chance to come this area in the future.

    Iris2019-09-10T00:00:00Z
  • A vey nice house in a beautiful spot. Close to Crescent Beach and fun ferry across the river to Lunenburg. Would love to come again in the future.

  • Beautiful home with fantastic amenities. Of the past 22 Airbnb’s We’ve stayed this was by far the best equipped. Everything was thought of! Quick access to the river for a dip. Close to all the places we wanted to explore. Le Have islands, crescent beach, Risser’s beach as well as many other places along the south shore. Great place also to just relax and enjoy the view! The stars at night are absolutely incredible. Would definitely recommend!

This cozy 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom cottage is located on beautiful Ragged Harbour on Nova Scotia's South Shore. If you are looking for a quiet retreat away from the crowds, this secluded 5 acre cottage on the ocean is perfect! Enjoy spectacular views of the water and wildlife from the covered front porch or from the gazebo.
Launch your canoe or kayak and explore the islands in the harbour in the company of curious seals or take a 5 minute walk to the gorgeous white sand beach where you are likely to encounter only seabirds and the occasional local resident. An outdoor fire pit provides a great place to relax in the evenings and enjoy some stargazing by the water. Each bedroom has a comfortable queen size bed and an adjoining full bathroom. The cottage has a spacious living room and dining area, a full kitchen and a small den, as well as a large covered front porch for enjoying the outdoors in any weather. Towels and bed linens are provided, along with all kitchenware and appliances (microwave, toaster, coffee maker, fridge and stove) - all you have to bring is your food. Non-smoking and pet-free
The Port Grocer is a 10 minute drive from the cottage and features a cafe, local crafts and some basic foodstuffs; a greater selection of grocery stores, restaurants, shops, museums and a laundromat can be found 20 minutes away in historic Liverpool.
  • The location is perfect and everything we could possibly need is provided. Donna’s local tips were also invaluable. She can’t be held responsible for the visit of mosquitoes the size of sparrows.

    Beth2019-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • The hosts provide excellent communication and offer any support if needed. Otherwise, you have 100% complete privacy from start to finish. The hosts have truly thought of everything guests will need for this cottage. The bedding, furniture, shower, & appliances are high quality and like new. Super clean! The cozy sitting room instantly became our favorite spot to read, relax and enjoy morning coffee. I can't recall the last time we have experienced such peace & tranquility. The 5-minute walk to the beach is perfect as well. For Day 2 we spent the whole day there - not a soul in sight. There is a wonderful detail in the decorating of this cottage. Instantly feels like a home and not a rental. Locally, we drove 15 minutes towards Liverpool and discovered Meadows Beach. The beach has change rooms and portable facilities. This is truly a hidden gem along the South Shore. Thank you Donna & Tim!

    Brendan2019-07-19T00:00:00Z
  • Tim and Donna's cottage really is 'on the ocean.' It's literally a stone's throw away. The place was immaculate and the views were amazing. It was a wonderful getaway!

    Ray2019-07-03T00:00:00Z
  • This is a unique and private spot on the shores of a remote bay, with only wildlife, birds and beauty as neighbors. The house is clean and well-equipped with everything you might need - including binoculars, bug spray and plenty of suggestions for exploring the area. Tim & Donna live close-by so are available if need-be. A perfect location for exploring Nova Scotia's South Shore - towns, beaches & Kedge National Park reachable within 1-1 1/2 hour drive. We loved our visit! A & S June, 2019

    Allan2019-06-28T00:00:00Z
  • This was our second visit and it was even better than the first! We brought a canoe and paddled the harbour and up through The Gut. The kids bikes to the beach in the rain and played all day. Lunch at the Port Grocer is delicious. I love the big windows and the comfy beds. I made the kids watch Top Gun on DVD. Gotta be ready for the sequel.

    André2019-04-22T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent secluded spot. Peaceful and very comfortable. The beds...oh my goodness..... used the binoculars to watch the herons. Say a coyote run onto the beach. Listened to the tide come and go. Amazing stay. Thank you so much. We cant wait to return.

Rustic, secluded waterfront family cabin overlooking the waters of Dublin Bay, behind 2 km-long Crescent Beach. Two bedrooms, modern amenities, canoe available, wifi.
Private, waterfront, small rock beach. Launch your canoe or kayak from the front yard, to explore the islands, or Cape Lahave. Good bicycling in the area.
Close to several fine beaches (Crescent, Rissers, Cherry Hill), Lahave Bakery and Lahave Ferry, a winery, music, farmer's markets, and Petite Riviere Winery. Short driving distances to Mahone Bay, Lunenburg, Liverpool and Bridgewater. General stores nearby; galleries, eateries in the neighbourhood. Good biking, kayaking, canoeing, swimming.
  • The view from this place was absolutely breathtaking! The cottage was even better than the pics can portray. It is private and secluded, yet within a short drive of many local gems of things to do, places to eat, and the beach. We enjoyed a fire in the evenings, either outside or by the wood oven stove each night. The night sky and listening to the ocean waves is magical. If you are looking for something a little rustic -- to reconnect with nature and the ones you are travelling with, this place is wonderful! Also, the host -- Karen -- is amazing! She had sweet welcoming touches awaiting my husband's and I's arrival and had helpful tips on local places to eat and see. She is very friendly, easy to talk to, and responds quickly to questions and messages. Highly recommend!

    Tamara2019-09-23T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is very cute and the view is amazing. You only have to walk 5-7 minutes to get to the beach (which is never crowded!), and there is a pizza and ice cream shop at two minutes. You really feel alone in the world surrounded by all this beauty. Last thing, the bed and pillows couldn't be more confortable. I definitely recommend!

Enjoy a retreat in this 4-bedroom century home, located on 8 acres with stunning views. This beautiful property is a short drive from world heritage sights, beaches, shopping, quaint South Shore villages and sightseeing - or is simply a serene place to savour the quiet life, sit by the pool and walk beside the ocean. The previous owners did a great job of updating the house while retaining its character. We have furnished it with selected pieces, along with new beds and a well-equipped kitchen.
The house includes a lovely pool, which is heated and nicely sheltered. The poolhouse, is in fact an original pioneer home from the 1830s which was moved from the property next door
    >> You will find an abundance of natural attractions nearby. Oxner and Sand Dollar beaches are 5 minutes away, while Hirtle’s Beach is 10 minutes away. There are also many lovely towns nearby, including Lunenburg (a UNESCO World Heritage site), Mahone Bay (30 minutes away) and Chester (40 minutes).
  • Our stay at Riverport was very memorable . Really enjoyed the house and gardens , and had lots of good laughs with friends who had gathered from around the globe around the pool . What a treat the pool and the outdoor shower were . Great pool !

Gaff Cottage, designed by Brian MacKay-Lyons, is located on Shobac Farm in picturesque Upper Kingburg. This cottage offers a second-level open loft with a double bed and a private deck overlooking the pasture where the sheep graze. The main floor accommodates a bedroom with twin beds, an overflow sleeping nook as well as a living room with leather furniture, a wood stove, and a deck facing the ocean and amazing sunset. The cottage is within walking distance of the dramatic Hirtle's Beach. Horseback riding lessons and kayaking are often available on-site and there are several great cycling trails in the area. Along with the sheep, a couple of Scottish long-horn cattle, bald eagles, and herds of deer are enjoying the solitude of this "lost village at the end of the earth."
Upper Kingsburg is a small and quiet village on the Atlantic Ocean, 20 km from the UNESCO World Heritage site in Lunenburg.
  • Had an amazing stay! It was perfect place for our vacation, we loved the scenery, the location, it was just exactly what we needed. Great local places to visit near by, the ovens, the small fishing village, good food in Lunenburg and even a local farmers market which we stocked up on local food at. Wish we could have stayed a bit longer!

    Regina2019-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • A perfect place. Seriously. It feels exceptionally remote, and yet close to everything one needs. Waking up to the sound of birds chirping and sheep bleating, and falling asleep to the sound of waves crashing on the shores, it doesn’t get much better in my book. Add to it the endlessly thoughtful touches of hosts / architects and we can’t wait to come back.

  • Great space, great location and and even more spectacular views! One of the warmest and coziest places we've ever stayed. It has everyone you need, and Corinne truly makes you feel at home. We highly recommend Eagle's Nest and would definitely visit again!

    Alex2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • Stunning views , well equipped & private.

    Nigel2019-10-12T00:00:00Z
  • Corinne's place was great. It's spacious, charming, the kitchen is well kitted out, the views (especially from the top floor bedroom balcony) are spectacular, and the lake is beautiful. We enjoyed kayaking and swimming. It's easy to get to a small farm store 5 minutes from Corinne's place, and it's not a long drive to Bridgewater, the nearest town, which has large supermarkets. Everything as advertised, Corinne was communicative and responsive (though we never met), and check in and check out were very smooth. Recommended.

    Shingi2019-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • Corinne's place is a gem. We relaxed, enjoyed the space, the view and the area. We cooked great meals in the kitchen and had a peaceful, comfy nights sleep.

    Karen2019-09-20T00:00:00Z
  • The view was stunning. It was so relaxing from sitting outside playing with the dogs to sitting inside playing cards with a fire going in the background. The view is amazing from the upstairs bedroom just sitting out there enjoying the view is so relaxing.

    Crystal2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • We lucked into Corrine’s amazing house at the last minute. Our four day canoe trip was cancelled because of hurricane Dorian and Corrine agreed to take us in. The Eagle’s Nest is amazing, even when the storm caused us to lose power and water. Corrine was ready for any outcome; she had candles, drinking water etc. ready for us. We loved our three days off the grid and spent our time playing cards, kayaking and grilling. We were so sad to leave! We always say we’ll return to our favorite places...this time I think we really will! The house has everything you need for a relaxing retreat, but is also close to shopping, dining etc. You should stay here!!!

  • When first contacting Jason and Caila to book our week at their cottage, I read the excellent reviews from previous renters. Needless to say our stay definitely lived up to our expectations and confirmed all those reviews. We loved the cottage, the great weather and especially the autumn foliage. The cottage was everything we wanted and a warm place to return to every night after enjoying the South Shore.

    Paul2019-10-24T00:00:00Z
  • My family and I had a lovely stay at Jason's place. The location was so beautiful, we loved having coffee on the deck and enjoying the view of the lake in the morning. The cottage was very clean and had everything we needed to make our stay comfortable. The thoughtful touches, such as the coffee pods, snacks and bottled water, were also a nice surprise. We were visiting family in Bridgewater and found that the drive into town was easy and quick. Jason was also very easy to communicate with and was quick to respond with any inquiries. Thank you so much for a great stay, we hope to visit again!

    Tanya2019-09-07T00:00:00Z
  • Our little family loved this spot so much. We would definitely book it again for the future! We enjoyed everything about it, but our favorite was the view as the sun went down.

    Sarena2019-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • What a beautiful spot! Close to so many beaches and yet so very private. We attended a wedding nearby and had the cutest space to rest our heads afterwards. My husband and I had coffee together on the porch in the morning and it was lovely. Our pre teen enjoyed space in the loft while our toddler was just so happy to be at “a little cottage”. Definitely recommend! And maybe we will make it back sometime!

    Carrie2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • Travelling from Ontario this was a beautiful, tranquil location. We have never stayed in a small space like this with so many wonderful amenities! What a perfect place for a getaway. Many beaches very close by. After a day at the beach it was nice to cozy up on the pullout couch to watch a movie. Ps. Insect repellant is a must (at this time of year at least). The porch is screened in though so you are free from mosquitoes there!

    Emily & Bryce2019-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • This private setting is wonderful. It has everything you would want to make your stay comfortable and relaxing. The screened porch is a great place to sit in the evening and watch nature. Paddlers like us, can put our boats in the water directly in front of the cottage. We love it there. It was our third time there and it just keeps getting better. Thank you Rose and Mike. We are looking forward to going back.

Hooked mats by local artist Jane Steele are on display at the cottage and are available for purchase.

Enjoy peace and serenity while staying in this nineteenth century home situated on forty-three acres of pristine acreage on an island located in the Medway River while having access to all that Nova Scotia’s South Shore has to offer. Lounge in the sun or on one of the two porches, head to one of the numerous beautiful beaches, dine in or out, bike, kayak, run, jog or hike, enjoy diverse cultural activities and events from opera and theatre to live music, or day trip to your heart’s delight.
The main house at Island Cottage has a spacious interior and has the look and feel of Nova Scotian times gone by while harmoniously offering the conveniences we have come to enjoy and rely upon, melding the best of two worlds. The ever-present river and bird songs create a soft, melodious backdrop and on clear nights the multitudes of stars and the Milky Way itself provide a delightful and inspirational panorama.
The Riverbank General Store, offering general goods, a gift shop, and a restaurant that serves breakfast and lunch every day, dinner on Wednesdays but but is closed on Mondays is a short walk from the house. Pleasant walks, runs and biking can begin in any direction from the house and the residents are amiable and will likely bend your ear if given the chance.
  • We booked this stay last minute for the long weekend and had a great time! The house is beautiful right by the river and Junius was very helpful with tips and great for conversation. Love to visit again soon!

    Jennifer2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • This is a get-away space. Large older home, true to it's era, that is well tended. Has a big screened in porch. Barn space (currently going through some rehabing) that offers a warm, open & comfortable space for a retreat gathering. Junius is a great host who is happy to let you have time to yourself, give you tips about the area or engage in a conversation. Our choice was to settle back and relax. For people who have mobility issues, note that the bedrooms are all upstairs.

    Ruth2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • Junius 's house is unique in a quiet and beautiful area next to a river. We spent a long time talking with him on his screened-in porch. It was a very special experience, one that we will remember for a long time.

    Didier2019-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • Junius is a great host and a kind soul. Is place is a quiet snapshot of old Nova Scotia farm life. It is a rustic, but well-love 170 year old farmhouse with a beautiful wide screen porch that’s perfect for a wandering evening conversation. The bed was comfortable and the shower was great (be aware it is in the restored barn building a few steps away). They we experiencing an unusual heatwave and Junius provided us with fans which provided a comfortable night’s sleep. Really enjoyed our time with our host. Recommended.

  • What a hidden gem! This place has everything you need to relax, refresh and disconnect. It was clean, bright, and full of cheerful and thoughtful touches from the board games, to Bluetooth speakers, and chairs out on the deck. The view was incredible and we loved walking on the beach. Thank you for a memorable staycation.

    Megan2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • This was our second time staying at the Kingsburg Guest House and everything was just as perfect as the last time. The place was once again extremely clean, and well stocked with anything we could possibly need. The morning light inside the house when the sun rises is something very special that I recommend all future guests wake up early to see. Thanks again for sharing your amazing space with us.

    Matthew2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Little gem in amazing surroundings. Loved the big windows with the great view and the heated floor is a nice feature. Will definitely come back!

    Bianca2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • Tyler’s place was absolutely perfect. I love the little touches, all of the east coast books, games, and nautical touch. Perfect location for a weekend getaway regardless of the time of the year. Looking forward to returning in the future!

    Chelsea2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • We loved the minimalist and stylish vibe of this cottage. A lot of thought went into the design and decor. The place was very clean, well equipped, and organized. It is a very private and tranquil getaway. The owner knows what he is doing. Amazing sunrises, too.

    Jennifer2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • The house was beautiful and perfectly located. Close to but separate from a number of other homes, but given proximity to water and direction of windows, etc. was very private. The area is also very nice. Close to Rose Bay General Store which has an LC and a Café. Also close to a number of really nice beaches. The house was REALLy clean, but not stuffy feeling, and well equipped. Easy and secure check-in. No fireplace which is always nice for winter stays (we were there late February), but the windows let in so much warmth and the floor was heated, so the space still felt cosy. One thing to note might be that to access the loft master bedroom, you have to climb a rather steep and tall ladder. If mobility is an issue, this might be challenging. (Or it might be a concern with small kids.) Though there are two back bedrooms. Otherwise, the loft is very nice. And the bed is very comfortable. Kitchen was a pleasure to work in. Fridge had a few items in it but was very tidy. Laundry on site. A great spot! We had a great time.

The cottage is located on our homestead in a peaceful setting of pasture and forest. We are 5 minutes from the Atlantic Ocean and have farm animals and gardens. • Lovely little cottage, just very enjoyable all around and the hosts are just good folks, no question.

  • We loved staying in the cabin. Monika and Karl are incredible hosts and the space is quiet, peaceful, and cozy. We can’t wait to come back!

    Sarah2019-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • Such a cozy and stylish place! Amazing spot if you’re looking for a private location. Monika and Karl are also quick to respond to any inquiries you may have, with a smile! We will be back!

  • Such a beautiful spot, the cottage was super cozy. Monika and Karl were wonderful hosts, made us feel very welcome.

  • We loved our stay at Monika and Karl’s tiny house. It was charming, cozy, and exactly what we were looking for.

    Shawn2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • An inward and outward adventure! Private enough for quiet contemplation, yet so close to wonderful beaches, fishing villages, the car ferry and the fabulous local bakery. It's a small, private, very special cottage -- and the loft sleeping and wood-burning stove may not be tops with the marriott/hilton crowd (of which I used to be), but to me these just added to the wonderful experience and a chance to 'get away'. Cannot recommend the place, the location, and the hosts enough.

    Mark2019-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • If you like a tiny house visit Monika and Karl. Their house and area is real nature

    Cees2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • 5 stars all around! Monika and Karl are so welcoming when you arrive and again when you leave. The tiny house is just down the path set at the back of the property. It’s very private and close enough to Monika and Karl’s place in case you need anything. I was pleasantly surprised to see a outdoor fire pit with a cute table and chairs out by the tiny house! It was just what I needed after being out all day sightseeing. The tiny house has everything you need, it’s very clean and it’s modern. I have a peaceful stay here! You can sleep up in the loft if you’re two people or on the day bed if you’re alone.

  • Michelle’s cottage was just like the photos- simple and charming and spacious. We loved borrowing the kayaks and paddling around the whole island and coming back to a hot shower and relaxing on the deck in the sun overlooking the quiet cove, with blue herons fishing on the rocks close by. The furniture is very comfy and the kitchen is super roomy. It felt like we had known the place forever, like a family cottage. The history of the place is interesting and you can imagine what it used to be like with its wide floorboards and wooden vaulted ceiling. It was very clean, well stocked and Michelle had thought of everything a guest might need, including bug spray, which we forgot to bring (not that we needed it much!). The area of LaHave to Petite Rivière Bridge and beyond offers tonnes of charm, beaches, cafes (our favourite was Ploughman’s), art galleries and really interesting and friendly people, some locals and some who visited from away and never left. We could easily see why. Enjoy your stay, we sure did!

The Haussermann’s Lake House is a unique vacation home located at Fancy Lake, Nova Scotia. It offers marvellous lakeviews that you can enjoy from a jacuzzi.
This architecturally designed house is different to the traditional Cape Cod homes you might expect in the Maritimes Area, while incorporating modern elements like open concept living spaces and floor to ceiling windows. Immediately upon entering, the eye is drawn to the expansive windows, which seem to bring the outdoors into this home. The upstairs which is the Honeymoon Sweet refers to the same open concept including a living area, a newly equipped dream kitchen, a bedroom and a 4-piece bathroom inlcuding a sweet Jacuzzi with a very nice view of the lake. So whether you are dining alfresco on the balcony or simply relaxing listening to the nature, it is hard to escape the sense of peace and tranquility. The shallow Lake waters, warmed by the sun, make it an excellent time for swimming, body surfing, or for simply relaxing! For theatre , fine dining, museums, shops and other attractions, Bridgewater is approximately 10 minutes away; while Lockeport with its beautiful Crescent Beach is a 15 minutes drive. Halifax is 1,5 hours, the UNESCO town of Lunenburg , Peggy’s Cove and Whale watching in Digby are all pleasant day trips. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask. I have stayed at this house with my family every summer holiday and I am quite familiar with the area. From 1st of august 2016 the downstairs apartment will be occupied permanently, but shouldn't affect your stay thanks to very thick concrete floors. 2 persons 1 bedroom 1 bathroom 1 jacuzzi 1 kitchen Balcony Garden Parking on site Heating Non-Smoking Rooms Shower Central Heating Coffee Maker Dishwasher Fridge/Freezer Ironing Facilities Kitchen Linen & Towels Supplied Living Room Private Car Space Radio Coffee 10 mins from Bridgewater Kejijmkujik Seaside Park 40 mins Kejijmkujik NP 1 h

  • Had a great two night stay at the place. We found the kitchen a little confusing to use (very modern stove + oven), but otherwise loved it. The view of the lake and jacuzzi were lovely. Close enough to Bridgewater for convenience, but still feels like you’re in the forest.

  • We really enjoyed our mini winter getaway to a super cute town in Bridgewater. The space was perfect for us and the bathtub was an added relaxing bonus which we would highly recommend. This picturesque ocean view cottage is situated in the peaceful village of Upper Kingsburg, surrounded by rolling pastures, sweeping ocean views and natural beauty. Sandy beaches for swimming, surfing and kayaking -- as well as hiking around the world-renowned Gaff Point Nature Preserve -- are all within walking distance. Just a short drive from the World Heritage Town of Lunenburg (home to world class restaurants and art galleries galore), this property has the perfect location.
Trails down through the woods leading to Hirtles beach are steps from the house -- a 30 minute off-road walk. The village is small and very quiet, accommodating a number of vacation rental homes, but also friendly, year-round neighbors. Cows and sheep are often seen on the hilly pastures and wild fruit (raspberries, blackberries, blueberries and apples in season) are there to be picked throughout the summer and fall. An outdoor shower is available to refresh and get rid of sand and salt after swimming. Al Fresco dining, BBQ on the deck, Netflix-ready 40" Flat Screen cable TV with USB connection for guest devices, plus super-high speed internet -- everything guests need to relax and enjoy this beautiful space to the full.
The Kingsburg/Rose Bay area is very special because of its beautiful sandy beaches, kid-friendly swimming beaches, great hikes around stunning points and its friendly, well-informed residents. Though small in number they are rich in world experience, local knowledge and eagerness to share the beauty of their area. Also unique on the South Shore are the nearby facilities that are worthy of -- if not superior to -- any of the larger, more crowded areas: World-class restaurants, art galleries, and more in the picturesque town of Lunenburg, as well as excellent shopping in nearby Bridgewater, with Farmers Markets in both towns. Freshly caught lobster and deep sea fishing are readily available locally.
  • We loved our week at Upper Kingsburg. The proximity to the beach makes this a great place to stay.

    Justin2019-07-26T00:00:00Z
  • We were in the area for a wedding at Shobac Cottages, and this location was absolutely perfect for us. The cottage was charming and cozy, and presented to us in a spectacularly clean manner, the views were incredible and the check-in went seemlessly. We had to contact Janet for some extra blankets and she came by the house quite quickly (as they live a short distance from the property). We were glad we had to contact her as we found out she is a very lovely person and eager to share stories and some interesting facts about the area and insight on where to eat and things to do! Much thanks!!

  • Our stay in Upper Kingsburg was blissful - Janet made sure that we were well taken care of during our time at the cottage! We enjoyed sipping our coffee on the back deck with a view of the ocean, relaxing in front of the TV, and playing cards on the large dining table all together. Lunenburg was about a 25 minute drive away for delicious dinners and window shopping. We found we had room to spare with five of us staying together. We highly recommend this place!

  • Just spent an energizing stay at this cottage! It’s a spacious old house with lots of charm and modern amenities. It was very clean and tidy upon arrival. The house is indeed surrounded by gorgeous and peaceful environment, between forest and sea, away from the bustling tourism of Lunenburg, but yet only 35km away. It is nicely situated for daily jaunts to the beach and the trail at Gaff Point is a stroll away. Janet was a very welcoming host and goes above and beyond. Overall this was a splendid getaway ... like your own home away from home!

  • The house was old, but it was absolutely the most comfortable home away. It had lots of charm. There was nothing that was needed but to bring yourselves and lay back. There was even some basic food supplies should you forget them. We would recommend this location to all. It met our expectations and more.

  • Quaint cottage with all basic needs! Janet was very helpful and responsive; she even helped by loaning a cell charger! This is about 20 mins from Lunnenberg and a short walk to the ocean. The views along the drive were spectacular.

  • This was a beautiful charming house in a great location. The view from the back deck was stunning. It was perfect for our family of 5.

THE 1830 Schoolhouse at Shobac Farm was restored/renovated by acclaimed architect Brian MacKay-Lyons. The main floor maintains the feeling of the original open plan, featuring a kitchen, spacious dining/living areas, half bath, and front deck with a hot tub and BBQ. Restored wooden benches add authenticity. The second floor has 2 bedrooms (luxurious master bedroom + a ‘bunk room’ with 2 single beds), private laundry facilities, and a full bath with tub, shower, and heated tile floor/towel rack.
This charming building is fully winterized and is located adjacent to the historic octagonal Troop Barn. European appliances, contemporary leather furniture, old pine floors, private laundry facilities, and historic touches make your stay memorable in this oceanside, pastoral landscape. Luxurious linens and Temper-pedic mattresses add comfort to your stay.
Shobac Farm is located in a small rural community on a narrow peninsula where the LaHave River Estuary meets the Atlantic Ocean. The site offers the solitude of "a lost village at the end of the earth". It is within walking distance of the dramatic Hirtle's Beach and Gaff Point, a Nature Trust with a marked ocean-side hiking trail. Horseback lessons and kayaking are often available on-site and there are several great cycling trails in the area. Along with the sheep, a couple of Scottish long-horn cattle, bald eagles, and herds of deer are enjoying the solitude of this "lost village at the end of the earth."
  • The Shobac location is absolutely stunning. Amazing views, wonderful wide open spaces, and great access to nature. The schoolhouse is a great place to stay, good size, and very homey. Highly recommend!

  • Incredible experience spending days in the panopticon that is the schoolhouse living room. We saw the fog come in, the sheep get moved, the sun set and the dogs stroll by.. The table is beautiful and long. We loved our dinners of muscles, oysters and lobster bought fresh from up the road and easily prepared our food in this great kitchen. We saw stars from the hot tub, surfed mini waves at Hirtles and walked with our boards back home. The kitchen is full of good quality pans, the sheets are nice and crisp. We met other guests, grilled sausages with new friends, and loved seeing Brian and family briefly most days. Check in was easy and the whole thing felt like an adventure. Thanks so much.

The master bedroom of Noble Home on the LaHave river.
In a lovely house from 1911 by the LaHave river. Fully renovated, but retaining it's antique charm. View of sunset from bedroom windows. Big comfy bed. Big closet & dresser.
Middle LaHave is a sprinkling of houses along the beautiful LaHave River on the Lighthouse route. It is equidistant to Lunenburg and Bridgewater, approx. 15 min. each way. The closest stores are in those communities.
  • Long term renters (+2 months) on business, we have really come to consider this place as home. Mike is interested in his tenant's comfort and happiness - he shoveled around our car on a snowy morning, he is quick to offer to do extra things for us and is generous with his time, all the home's spaces and even kitchen supplies. He communicates what he needs from us kindly, is completely respectful of our privacy and is terrific with local recommendations! (He's given us many suggestions for adventures that did not disappoint.) The location is tops on the LaHave River with fabulous views up and down the river at all times of day or night. We tell everyone we live in a postcard! I would not hesitate to recommend this location, this house, and this host any time.
