Places to stay in Chepstow

Places to stay in Chepstow
17th Century cottage in the heart of Chepstow, close to Offa's Dyke & the Wye Valley.
Small but perfectly formed, Pineapple Cottage is a characterful little cottage that dates back to 1650 (we think!). It may be old, but it has all the mod-cons thanks to a recent refurb. There's Sky TV, WiFi and a wood burning stove*, as well as a washer/dryer and dishwasher. Upstairs there are two bedrooms and a shower room. There are plenty of mirrors for getting ready and the shower room has a heated floor and a heated mirror! You won’t see it in the photos (that would ruin the surprise), but to find the second bedroom you’ll have to check for secret doors. Think The Lion The Witch and the... The Garden is small but private. It is heated, lit by fairy lights and has just enough room for four around the table. *feel free to use the wood burner, but you'll need to provide your own logs!
Being in the heart of historic Chepstow, there are restaurants, bars and cafes nearby with Chepstow Castle virtually on your doorstep! If you're heading to the races then its a 20 minute walk or 5 minutes in a taxi.
  • This is an absolute gem of a place to stay. The cottage is superbly situated right in the heart of old Chepstow, close to all the amenities. It is sparkling clean, with close attention to all the minor details that you need for an enjoyable stay. The cottage is warm and cosy and decorated in a delightful fashion!

  • Joe's place is very central to the shops, castle and river. Although there is no parking, it is possible to park directly outside the front door initially without much fear of blocking anyone as it is short and very narrow street with no cars or garages. There is a car park 5 minutes walk away adjacent to the tourist information building and castle entrance. The car park 24 hour rate was very reasonable - £4.80 as I write. The house was very homely, snug and tasteful with eclectic features. The second bedroom was well disguised, as can be discovered! The house was well equipped with everything you would want in the kitchen and bathroom. Detailed information file with personal recommendations from host. Generally delightful.

  • Highly recommend this charming, creative, beautifully designed home. High quality finishing but with a spirit for fun and holiday. We couldn't stop looking around in amazement at it all. Spectacular location with peekaboo views of chepstow castle and located on the most charming tiny street. The second bedroom's entrance will please your young'uns and young at heart!

  • Amazing, quirky little place with such lovely finishing touches! Right in the heart of Chepstow with a gorgeous, homely but stylish feel. We loved it!

    Michelle2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great cottage in the town. Great location, great amenities and really good communication with Joe. Thanks so much!

    Olivia2020-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • This is as stylish as it looks in the pics. A lovely place, comfy bed, good shower, lovely fire and good TV. There is free road parking less than 5mins away, after you have pulled up outside to drop stuff off. Easy to use heating and a fun entrance with a Narnia wardrobe to access the spare oom! Great host and communication!

  • A cosy, nicely decorated cottage right in the centre of Chepstow. We arrived on a cold and miserable Friday night, my first thoughts were of getting warm. Charlotte has an information guide for guests, with the operation of the central heating being the first thing to read. All very straight forward and the cottage was cosy in no time. The kitchen is well equipped, the lounge is really comfortable, the shower was great and the bed just perfect.

    John2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Charlotte’s place is lovely! In a perfect spot in Chepstow, very close to everything you need, including transport hubs. The place was beautiful, clean, and there were some lovely personal touches, too. Thank you, guys!

    Nicola2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • This little cottage exceeded our expectations. It was incredibly clean and welcoming. It felt like we were at home straight away. The location is perfect and is from walking distance from the castle. We loved our stay.

    Daniel2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Charlotte is a great host, and helped us out with staying an extra night when Storm Dennis was causing shenanigans on the train lines. The place was spotless as ever, and great value too. Will be back for sure!

    Ben2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Charlotte was a wonderful host and Carpenters cottage was handy for everything, a really convenient location. Such a pretty little home, the thoughtful touches made it extra special! Welsh cakes, coffee, tea and milk were all available. Loved the colour scheme of grey and mustard yellow furnishings throughout, the comfy bed and great shower. Easy access with key code and good parking in Hollins close (named after our ancestors!) We would highly recommend Charlottes place to other guests, Thank you!

Very friendly & quiet neighbourhood. The village of Tutshill was the childhood home for famous Author JK Rowling. She attended Tutshill Church of England Primary School before moving on at the age of eleven to the nearby Wyedean School in Sedbury. Her childhood home, Church Cottage, a mid-19th century Gothic-style Grade II listed building designed by the architect Henry Woodyer, was put up for sale in 2011. The character Severus Snape in the Harry Potter books was partly based on Sylvia Morgan, a teacher at her primary school, and on one of her teachers at Wyedean School, John Nettleship. In the book Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, a passage is set in the Forest of Dean, where Harry, Hermione and Ron are camping & discover the Sword of Gryffindor where it has been hidden by Snape. Tutshill is also the home of a fictional professional Quidditch team operating within the Harry Potter universe. The Tutshill Tornados are one of thirteen fictional Quidditch teams that play in the professional Quidditch League of Britain and Ireland that was established in 1674. The team players wear sky-blue robes emblazoned with a double "T" in dark blue on the chest & back. In the early 20th century the fictional team set a British and Irish record by winning the League Cup five times in a row.

    Rosie2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful building. So lovely to come back to after our days out. Harriet always responded quickly to requests and questions and that made a huge difference to our trip. The flat was so clean. Our baby is crawling everywhere and putting everything in her mouth and I felt more relaxed about that here than at home! Farm shop and cafe next door were lovely. We didn't go until the day we were leaving and wished we had gone earlier. Lovely for gifts and if you're staying in and cooking there are some lovely options. Really comfy sofas if you're staying in at all and comfy bed. We had everything we needed to cook and we were able to do a load of washing which was really helpful with a baby. It was very quiet so a very relaxing place to chill out. We would definitely stay again.

  • I have previously found staying in a private room in someone’s home a little challenging. This was never the case in Susan’s home. I was welcomed, yet left alone and settled in swiftly to this perfectly located, stylish, cosy and peaceful home.

    Weddy2019-12-19T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed Susan. We stayed up half the night gaining insights to Chepstow. The only problem we had was finding it. Since she lives in a private complex on a privates road, do not put in the address, but rather the Pub or stores nearby. Once you get to the area, the Private Road address is quite seeable. Wish we had more time here. Susan is a great host!

Vine Cottage is in the heart of old Chepstow and close to the castle, river and town centre. The guest suite is completely separate with its own front door. The living room has a large comfy sofa and chair, and a wood burner. The bedroom has a king sized bed and space for a desk overlooking the terrace. The shower room is spacious. There's a mini fridge, a tea/coffee set up and a tiny terrace for sunny days. We have Sky sports - just in case! WiFi. No kitchen. Parking is close and inexpensive.
Great for walkers, castle lovers and music enthusiasts, Chepstow is a lovely town and well worth exploring. With friendly people and a wealth of history, it's a great base for visiting Monmouthshire and Bristol too. The Tourist Information Centre is 4 doors away and they can help you plan your stay. Vine Cottage is the perfect location for a mix of action and peace. Right on the Offa's Dyke path and the Wye Valley walk, there are pubs, restaurants and wine bars in walking distance. The space is attached to the main house. You have your own front door and enter the cozy living room, with a large sofa and wood burner. The bedroom, with comfy king sized bed, is tucked away and quiet. A lovely new shower room is exclusively for you. The back door opens onto a small terrace. Chepstow race course is about a mile away but up the hill - take a very short taxi ride or wear comfy shoes!
From Vine Cottage you are spoiled for choice. In one direction is the River Wye and old bridge leading across to England and some lovely walks. There is also Toast, a great coffee shop up the hill. Panevino Italian restaurant is 3 doors away and does great seafood pasta. In the other direction is the castle and a lovely walk up to the Dell. From there you can cut through to town and stop at one of the many coffee shops or browse. There's a fortnightly market on Sundays during the summer that has fab jewellery as well as food and artisan goods. No visit would be complete without a visit to the Three Tuns a friendly pub with lunchtime food, excellent beer and live music on Saturdays and Sundays.

Charming spacious open-plan Studio in the heart of Monmouthshire. Perfect location for accessing the Wye Valley, Vale of Usk, Cardiff and Bristol. Lovely pub nearby. The outstanding 4-star living accommodation is open-plan with a fitted kitchen area, and a loft-style mezzanine bedroom level. Just drop us a message to get a link to our full 3D walk-through of the property.
The Studio benefits from a wooden floor and large-scale custom made and double-glazed timber framed windows and is decorated in muted Farrow & Ball greens and creams. Furnishing is in a modern country style. We have also fitted a modern and clean luxury kitchen and shower room with all new appliances, which will hopefully make your stay as comfortable as possible. The Studio is equipped with a flat screen Freeview television / DVD player (with iPod / MP3 connectivity) and a CD player / radio. There is a gas 'coal flame' stove to supplement the central heating and make for cosy nights in during winter. A tiled internal entrance porch makes a good place to shed muddy boots and to hang coats. There is also a small patio area with a beautiful view of the church and the centre of the village. There is ample space to store bikes or golf clubs, either in the entrance porch (or we can provide additional space should it be required). All bed linen, towels, gas, electricity and use of Studio washing machine are included. WiFi is free too and 20+mbps. The Studio is annexed to our family home but with its own private entrance so you can have as much privacy as you like but with the comfort that we are just next door if you need any help or recommendations. There is ample free parking on the road outside the Studio. The Studio is strictly no smoking. Cyclists? We have room for bike storage too!
The Studio is surrounded by beautiful countryside, particularly popular with walkers and cyclists. The pretty stone-built village of Shirenewton is a excellent centre for exploring the Wye and Usk valleys, the Brecon Beacons and the Forest of Dean. Although we are only 5 miles from the Severn Bridge (with fantastic access to Bristol and Cardiff) you will find that we are well and truly in the country with the advantages of a thriving village with three pubs (including a gastro pub less than 50 metres walk away and another that serves very good home-cooked food). Keen walkers will find several easy walks mapped from the house and we have equipped The Studio with maps and guides books to the surrounding area. Cyclists will find the area very rewarding, both for road cycling and mountain biking in nearby Wentwood. Golfers will find the famous St Pierre course 4 miles away and the 2010 Ryder Cup venue Celtic Manor 11 miles away. We can also arrange for tennis players to use the members’ village tennis court. Chepstow Racecourse is less than 4 miles away. If you love castles you will also love Monmouthshire! There is a lot more information on the village and the surrounding area available on the Shirenewton Village website.
  • Sarah and Omar have created a beautiful studio to enjoy, even though the weather didn’t play ball when we were down it was still lovely as we got to enjoy our time in the studio even more. Really appreciated the extra touches which meant we didn’t have to immediately dash out to find the shops as well. Would absolutely love to pay the studio a visit again in the future!

    Cherise2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay at Sarah’s and Omar’s residence. Their place is super comfy and feels homely. Spotless house all the way and some sweet attentions left for us. It was the perfect refuge for our trip into Gloucestershire, Monmouthshire and Cardiff. Easy and fast communication. Thumbs up! We definitely love Wales and the Welsh nation!!!

  • Simon & Nicola's place is a hidden gem. It is in a terrific location handily placed for either rail or car journeys into/out of Wales. Set in a peaceful and tranquil location, it had that warm feel at home aura about it. A comfortable bed ensures an extremely good night's sleep is had! Tea & Coffee with fresh milk is provided upon arrival and the accommodation is spotlessly clean. I have nothing but terrific things to say about this stay. Thank you Simon & Nicola.

  • The Loft is a lovely space overlooking the River Severn, only 10 minutes drive from Chepstow. There are horses in the fields around and it's very quiet and relaxing. The place is sparkling clean and very well appointed. Juliet is a fantastic host, communicating well before and at the end of our stay. The food and fruit baskets and milk in the fridge were a welcome touch. We stayed the weekend that Storm Dennis hit but we were nice and cosy with the wood burner going and when the power went, Juliet messaged us and braved the wild weather to bring us torches, candles and a stove kettle. Internet coverage was excellent and the Freeview TV meant we could log in to Netflix. The only thing to note for tall visitors is that there are sloping ceilings, particularly in the bathroom (my partner is 6' 5" though!). We had a lovely relaxing break and hope to go back when the weather is predictably better!

  • We had a fantastic stay in this cosy little loft with a fantastic view across the river. The little hamper of food was delicious. Lots of great walks around as well. Perfect for a weekend getaway for two.

  • We had a wonderful stay at The Loft, and Juliet was a fantastic host. Great communication, thoughtful touches (a beautiful welcome hamper was in the kitchen for us on arrival!) and we had everything we needed to enjoy ourselves. The apartment itself is sparkling clean - modern and stylish - and boasts a gorgeous wood burning stove that we were very excited to take full advantage of. And the view over the River Severn was truly lovely; we even got up early on the final morning to watch the sunrise. Well worth it! Thank you for a great experience!

  • Thoroughly recommend this lovely loft conversion, with stunning views over the countryside and River Severn. Great design, very comfortable and tastefully furnished, with all mod-cons, ideal for two adults. The fresh eggs and home-baked bread supplied with the breakfasts were a very nice touch from the lovely hosts, Juliet and Michael. Ideal place for walking, relaxation and unwinding - will definitely return.

The bed was comfortable and the whole place nice and quiet, conducive to relaxing & a good rest. Great shower and a pleasant private garden to relax in. All in the heart of Shirenewton which is a most pleasant Chocolate Box of a village, it was a mere stroll to the Village Pub that has a very nice menu and was very friendly & welcoming. Sandra provides a microwave and fridge, along with a toaster and kettle, milk, teas and coffee which worked well for us. Our house overlooks the River Severn and is a stone's throw from the Severn Bridge. Built in the 17th century, originally as two cottages, the space has plenty of character and is completely private with access to the garden and outdoor seating areas with stunning views across the estuary. It has recently undergone total refurbishment and has underfloor heating throughout. The area regularly attracts bird spotters, fossil hunting enthusiasts and visitors to the old car ferry site.
The spacious entrance hall leads to a bedroom with a built in wardrobe, drawers, iPod docking station, television and DVD library. Next door is a newly refurbished bathroom with dual sinks, rain shower and beautiful views. Due to the property's hot water and heating system - air source heat pump - there is the occasional low hum from the fan outside the bedroom window. There is a sitting room overlooking the garden with piano, cross trainer, sofa and microwave. Tea and coffee are also available. There's on street parking just outside the drive, it's a very quiet and safe road so you'll be fine to leave your car there. Cyclists can bring their bikes inside and leave them in the entrance hall. Yoga enthusiasts can use our terrace and garden - we have a spare mat you’re welcome to use!
Historic Aust Ferry pier Famous red and white cliffs, the most productive Triassic site in the UK and home to many fossils Plenty of cycle routes, Thornbury is a 15 minute drive away and Chepstow just 10 minutes. Cribbs Causeway also a 10 minute drive. Severn View services, with Costa and Burger King is 2 minutes from the house.

  • Overall we were really happy, the location was great, we needed to be close to the NDAC and it was just a 10 minute drive from where we were. The bridge was closed a couple of times due to high winds, so we had to make a detour one or twice however we made sure to factor this in to our travel plans. The place was very clean, nice touch with the granola and coffee for the mornings, we didn't realise there was a toaster until we found it under the table. Sarah kindly offered to do some washing up for us, however would have be really nice to have had some washing up liquid to do it ourselves so we wouldn't have to bother the hosts. Overall we had a really lovely stay. Thank you.

  • Juliet and her husband were perfect host. They greeted us every evening and asked about our day and offered advise for entertainment. For us the location was perfect as it was just a 20 minute drive to our work destination. The road to the property is very country and not overly wide, but it's easy navigated if u drive at a speed that suits. The accommodation was perfect. Really clean, warm well decorated and very comfortable and homely. The entrance to the accommodation is the main door to the house, but once u go up stairs to the accommodation it's as if ur in a totally separate house and you dont hear any noise from the main house. In the living room/kitchen, the table was laid out with fresh home baked bread, home made jam and eggs from Juliets hens. There was cereal, milk, tea, coffee and sugar. The jam was the best I've ever tasted👍 The beds were very comfortable. The bathroom was modern and the shower was great. Overall it was a cosy, homely place to stay, and we have rebooked it for our next work trip. Thank u both for having us. C u soon. Kind regards, Thomas P Fitzpatrick Www.castlefortstonemasonry.com

  • Thanks for being such a wonderful host. We couldn’t believe how tranquil and peaceful The Roost felt from the moment we walked in! Our toddler loved the garden and slide, we loved walking in the woods and looking at the amazing views over the river. At sunrise the sky was incredible from the bedroom window. We had a great day out in nearby Chepstow and went to some toddler friendly tourist destinations. We will be back soon to go for some nice long walks. We really valued Juliet’s local knowledge about family friendly activities. The Roost itself was beautifully presented - the bathroom is amazing and the bed was so comfy! Our toddler enjoyed playing with all of the toys in the kitchen. Thanks again for such an amazing stay.

Spring Cottage is set within an acre of its own land which includes a pretty cottage garden. A barbecue and outdoor table and chairs are provided during the warmer months. Above this garden is an apple orchard and beyond this is woodland, which is blanketed in bluebells during the spring. Parking for two vehicles is available in the driveway. Please note vehicular access to Spring Cottage is via a one and half mile long narrow single-lane road which whilst suitable for cars is not suitable for vehicles larger than a Ford Transit. Children of all ages are very welcome. We can provide a highchair and travel cot if requested but don’t provide cot linen as guests generally prefer to bring their own. We also have toys, books, board games and DVDs to keep our younger guests entertained! We are dog friendly! Up to two dogs are welcome at Spring Cottage but in the interests of other guests they are not permitted upstairs or on the furniture. A fee of £5 is payable per dog per night to cover the additional time needed to thoroughly clean the cottage for the next guests.
Spring Cottage is spoilt by the number of great options for places to eat and drink nearby including the following favourites: The Brockweir Inn, with it’s open fire, serves wholesome pub food, ale and cider and is a short one mile walk from the cottage. Tintern, two miles away, has a number of pubs. Our favourite for steak is The Rose & Crown Inn in Tintern and for a fine view of the Abbey and a hearty pub meal The Anchor Inn. A little further afield are two fine gastro-pubs both serving quality food in traditional pub surroundings: The Inn at Penalt and the Ostrich Inn in Newland are both 10 miles away. For fine dining, we would thoroughly recommend the Michelin Star restaurant The Whitebrook, which is 8 miles from Spring Cottage. Past guests of Spring Cottage have also recommended a number of restaurants in Monmouth (15 miles) including The Misbah and No 7 Church Street for Bangladeshi and modern European food respectively.
  • We stayed at the cottage with our 4 month old baby. It was spacious, so clean and incredibly quiet and peaceful. It's tucked away at the end of a country lane so all you can hear are birds and nature! There is a garden room which was perfect for practicing yoga or having a quiet read in - an extra hideaway! The log burner was so relaxing, and the bed incredibly comfy. Even with our baby waking I slept really well! I want to own somewhere like this cottage :-) its also in the perfect location for lots of walks.

  • Spring Cottage made the perfect Xmas getaway for my partner and I and our dog (which left a spare room with two single beds unused - so plenty room for families/bigger groups) . The place was pristine and very homely providing everything we could need and more, even a decorated Xmas tree. The location is stunning and very peaceful, lots of owls to be heard at night and great adventures to be had in walking distance so that we could abandon driving for a few days. The kingsize bed was like sleeping on a cloud, the bath lovely and deep and plenty of wood for the log burner, perfect for relaxing after long muddy walks. The kitchen is big and well equipped so made preparing our Xmas dinner a joy. We'd love to see the area in the Spring/Summer, so hope to book another stay. Would highly recommend.

  • We had a really lovely time. The cottage is in the ideal location. Away from the hustle and bustle and surrounded by stunning countryside and walks. The cottage was clean, cosy and warm. We had a really lovely stay and will definately come back.

  • The perfect cottage for a relaxing retreat! This detached cottage is very homely, with a lovely sitting room, a very well equipped kitchen and extremely comfortable beds. Warm and cosy, with a fabulously wood burner, radiators and tons of hot water. We had a dog with us, and the enclosed garden and tiled lobby were perfect for muddy paws and boots etc. David was a great host, and very communicative and quick to respond to any queries. Highly recommend this hide-away and will return if at all possible!

    Mark2019-11-26T00:00:00Z
  • Just returned from a superb stay at the Spring Cottage. It was spotlessly clean, had everything we needed and was extremely comfortable. The directions David gave us were spot on. The area was absolutely beautiful and really peaceful. The king size bed was very comfortable and we were most grateful for the heating being on when we arrived at 5pm on Friday. Just 1 thing we missed though - it would be great if there was an ice tray to fill up! 5* trip and would definitely return.

    Abigail2019-11-11T00:00:00Z
  • This is a hidden gem in the woods. Secluded and tucked away up a quiet lane, but with all the mod cons. The house is comfortable, clean and modern with nice features, esp the log burner. Beds very comfortable, plenty of hot water and kitchen well equipped. Autumn is a beautiful time to visit with numerous walks on the doorstep. Look forward to returning in the spring as there is plenty more to see and do in the area. PS. Very practical house for dog lovers.

We are situated less than a mile away from the village of St Briavels. It is a vibrant little village in the Forest of Dean, on the edge of the beautiful Wye Valley. It has an inn, an art gallery, a deli, a church and a castle. A monthly farmers' market is held in the village on the first Saturday morning of every month, where you can buy a whole range of local produce, including bread and cakes, cider and real ale, fish, and speciality meats.
The lodge is an annexe next to 150 year old cottage - close to Offas Dyke path and Wye Valley. The accommodation is a galleried open plan loft space with private shower room, kingsize bed, single bed and a Z bed to accommodate a 4th guest, if required. There is also a seating/lounge/tv area. Own private entrance. There is a cooking area with a double plate electric hob, a microwave/small oven, a toaster, a mini fridge and a kettle. We will take your washing up and put it through the dishwasher in the main cottage. There is free wifi, but, due to our location, it can be quite patchy. The annex also has it's own private lawned garden, with a seating area - you are more than welcome to bring a disposable BBQ. along. There is also a lovely village pub less than a mile away which serves a range of delicious meals, next to St Briavels Castle. There is also a deli/small café in the village, along with a park and tennis courts. From 2020, we will also be offering a "Bring your horse on holiday" option. We have room for 2 horses at the property. Prices to follow soon.
Discover things to do in or near St Briavels: The Forest of Dean and Wye Valley is home to a great range of attractions - some man-made, some completely natural but all of them well worth a visit. You may wish to discover the area's history, or enjoy a stroll around a nature reserve. There’s an array of family oriented attractions where you can all have fun, relax or enjoy some animal magic. On rainy days there’s also plenty to do from museums to caves or how about spending some time riding a steam train through the forest or taking a cruise down the River Wye. There really is no shortage of ideas for things to see and do in the Wye Valley and Forest of Dean Christmas time and Clearwell Caves is the place to be. Their themed ‘Christmas Fantasy’ always comes up trumps and they never fail to deliver an awesome display that can be enjoyed by the whole family. At various times throughout the year keep an eye out for other inspirational theatre and musical events at Clearwell Caves – the setting is so unique it makes the shows very special. Father Christmas also sets up his grotto at Beechenhurst and Puzzlewood near Coleford.
  • Cosy, private space in St Briavels. Hosts were very welcoming and quick to respond. Perfectly located for hiking, cycling and trail running. Would love to go back.

  • A very nice place to stay for a much needed getaway. Keren was a wonderful host. We could not have asked for a more enjoyable experience.

    Nick2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • Keren couldn't have been kinder and it is in a wonderful location, really peaceful yet convenient for the local area. The room is cosy and warm and you have your own garden space - lovely.

    Sue2019-11-29T00:00:00Z
  • Large loft space, very comfortable. Lovely hosts, very accommodating and approachable. Good location, good value. Lanes are dark in the Winter so take torches if you are going to walk the mile to the pub. Contact the hosts by phone (as we did) as the Sat Nav brings you to the village but not direct to the property - they gave us great directions to get to them and left a light on for us.

  • Keren and Lindon were super welcoming and friendly & their place exactly what my mum and I needed to spend a lovely weekend away in this beautiful area! Would definitely recommend!

  • Lovely, clean, simple place to stay with great hosts and easy communication. Perfect for what we needed.

    Becca2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • Self contained lodge with kitchenette & private entrance; perfect for speedy access to The Wye Valley & The Forest of Dean. Keren and her partner were both very friendly and helpful. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

  • The lodge is a fantastic base, spacious, peaceful and remote on the edge of the Forest of Dean. It is clean, light and comfy, with many easily accessible walks in the Forest, or a little further afield the Brecon Beacons beckon... Tintern Abbey is also only 15 minutes drive away, and there are amazing walks along the valley. This is my second visit, and I intend to come back again - Keren is a great host and this place is a gem.

Nestled in the Wye Valley with plenty to explore. Great for walkers, cyclists and anyone wishing to take in the natural beauty of this landscape. With easy access to Monmouth, Tintern, Forest of Dean & Chepstow a great place to base yourself from being only 15 mins from the bridges into Wales. The Wye Valley walk runs along the perimeter of the house so no need for cars if you just want to explore. Discuss your needs with the owners and we will try to make your stay memorable.
Visitors are welcome to bring dogs if we can agree on rules. It is ideal for dog walking.
There is a great selection of local pubs catering for all budgets and meal requirements. All walker and dog friendly. There are cycling cafés and of course Tintern Abbey is worth a visit a 20 minute walk from the house or a 3 min drive.
  • Jamie is so welcoming and helpful. The rooms were clean and stylish with plenty of space. The added touches like the Welsh cakes and flowers were much appreciated. I loved that there were a selection of board games in the room. This was a lovely bonus when we were looking to relax and listen to the rain outside. The host made us feel at ease by offering to take us into Tintern or help us avoid the bad road conditions (we stayed during Storm Dennis). Would definitely recommend.

    Antonia2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • A warm welcome for us and our dog and Jamie helped with with guide books, laminated maps and directions to the trailhead . Fantastic location right next to the Wye Valley trail, this lovely home nestled in the woods. Walking distance from Tintern, with private parking and a separate entrance to the super clean and comfortable rooms. Wifi and Amazon TV worked fine and the breakfast was outstanding. Fresh flowers, Welsh cakes, tea and coffees along with nice linens, fluffy towels and bathroom amenities made it really special.

    Toni2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • What a find! We booked last minute for a weekend getaway and were sincerely impressed with Jamie and Ginny’s place. It was out the way enough to really take advantage of a quiet evening in the countryside, but close enough to the fantastic local amenities that Tintern has to offer. The space itself was spotless, well presented and had everything you could need and more - the selection of board games were a welcome touch for the cosy evenings in! Jamie and Ginny were fantastically helpful and offered great suggestions of things to do locally. We scaled the nearby ‘Devil’s Pulpit’ on Jamie’s recommendation and were impressed to find stunning views of the Wye valley and Tintern Abbey below. We would highly recommend this walk to anyone visiting the area; it is well worth the hike. Thanks again guys - we will not doubt be back in the future! Ben & Sarah

There's a small hallway downstairs leading to a private terrace. We are close to Caldicot Castle, St Pierre, Celtic Manor Resort, Brooms Event Centre, Wye Valley, Wales Coastal Walk, Offa's Dyke, and Chepstow Diving Centre. Caldicot is a small town close to the M4 & M5 motorways so easy reach of many locations.
This is a first floor apartment with a large main bedroom, with large flat screen TV, containing either a large super king bed or 2 singles. There is a smaller room that has a bed settee that can be converted to a double bed (4ft 6in bed). This room also has a large flat screen TV. The kitchen over looks the owners garden and the local cricket club beyond, it has fridge, freezer, stove, microwave, TV, and dining table and chairs. We also provide cereal, tea, coffee, milk and sugar for your breakfast. The shower room has been recently refurbished. Downstairs is a small hallway providing an area for coats and outdoor shoes. Outside there's a private patio area with table and chairs.
Caldicot is a small town close to the M4 & M5 motorways so easy reach of Cardiff, Bristol, Gloucester etc. Caldicot hosts several cafes, pubs, restaurants and take-a-ways, as well as supermarkets if you prefer to cater for yourselves. We are in walking distance of Caldicot Castle which is set in extensive parkland. Its origins are Norman, but it was largely restored in the 19th century to create a charming building which combines building styles through the centuries. The castle is open to the public and also hosts a range of shows and events throughout the year. David Broome Event Centre is just 1 mile down the road. Close to Caldicot are the remains of an even older settlement, the ancient Roman town of Venta Silurum, now in the village of Caewent. The large number of ruined buildings are some of the best preserved in Britain, and in some areas the defensive walls are around 5m high. Domestic details such as the underfloor heating, or Hypocaust, survive in the remains of one of the town houses. Also close by are the hidden gardens and grottos of Dewstow House. The gardens were originally built around 1900 but were buried after WWII, they were rediscovered in 2000 and have now been renovated. The gardens contain many ponds and rills but interestingly a labyrinth of underground grottoes, tunnels and sunken ferneries. The rock gardens are made up of a mixture of real stone and faced stone using various types of Pulhamite. Nearby golf courses are St Pierre and the Celtic Manor Resort. The medieval town of Chepstow is just 5 miles away, here you'll find many bars & restaurants, gift shops, cobbled streets, and the starting points for the Wye Valley Walk, the Wales Coastal Walk, and Offa's Dyke.
