Places to stay in Blackheath
Perched above pristine and secluded bushland, Wondernest is a stylish country home located in the beautiful mountain village of Blackheath. Inspired by Scandinavian interiors this 2 level, 2 bedroom cabin exudes a warm and understated sense of style and luxury. Nestled into the landscape it offers stunning views of the bush from every room and an elevated outdoor deck with 180-degree views of the landscape. It’s hard to believe it is only a 15 minute walk to the train and Blackheath village.
Wondernest has been designed and renovated with a strong appreciation of its surrounds. The dark stained exterior opens into fresh white interiors walls, pale timber floors and 2 airy upstairs chalet style bedrooms with views of bush from every room. With an elevated outdoor deck and garden opening out into the bush, the Blue Mountains World Heritage National Park is literally on your doorstep.    The new light-filled galley kitchen with views to trees and bush is designed to make you relax and unwind. The black cabinetry and appliances are complemented by a functional rugged concrete benchtop. The kitchen comes fully equipped with gas cooktop, electric oven, microwave, dishwasher, toaster and kettle. It's welcoming and carefully considered with plenty of space for some indulgent holiday cooking. There is also a spacious bathroom and full laundry with both washer and dryer.   The 2 upstairs chalet-style bedrooms both have luxurious queen size beds, discrete lighting zones, expansive bush views and plenty of storage space. Both rooms also feature skylights above the bed so you can explore the stars of the southern sky from the comfort of your luxury bed. Enjoy the Milkyway galaxy with a cup of tea in bed.   Our goal is to let you connect with nature, so curl up on the corner leather lounge and watch the cockatoos come home to roost at dusk. But if you feel the need to reconnect there is unlimited access to high-speed NBN wifi. Bring your devices and access the streaming channel of your choice.   There is off-street parking for 2 cars in the driveway
Blackheath is renowned for its majestic views and awe inspiring walking tracks, including the jaw-dropping Pulpit Rock lookout and sunrise at Govetts Leap. It is also home to some of the best restaurants and cafes in the Blue Mountains.

  • Had a wonderful stay at the Millers Cottage. It was well appointed and in a great location. Well looked after by the hosts as well. Would highly recommend it. Phill

    Phillip2020-01-11T00:00:00Z
  • Really nice place. Very tidy, beds and couches are super comfy. And the walk into blackheath is quicker than expected. It’s well equipped and they even provide little things like tea and coffee, dishwashing soap, and body wash / shampoo. which is nice not to have to go out and get for your holiday. During my stay the bush fires got really close (<5kms away) and we decided to leave early. the whole street was evacuating. I requested a partial amount of the last few nights to be refunded. I was refused because the RFS did not tell us to evacuate, only to consider it. That was a bit disappointing, but i understand it’s all income.

  • The house is located in a stunning location and the hosts were fantastic. The area had internet issues while I was there (understandably right now) and Rebecca did everything humanly possible to have it dealt with. A beautiful home with hosts who go above and beyond.

    Kate2020-05-03T00:00:00Z
  • Canyon Cottage is an incredibly warm and comfortable space- with a spectacular view! The photos do not do it justice. The spa bath is an added bonus! Rebecca is a fantastic host who goes above and beyond for her guests. Her communication with us was excellent! We will be back for sure!!

    Ellie2020-04-17T00:00:00Z
  • Rebecca was a great host. We had a little trouble with the wifi and she went above and beyond to sort it out, and communicated quickly. The place is amazing without the wifi though, it’s warm and cozy. We loved having different birds visit us each day, it was a real space away from it all. Would definitely stay again. Thank you

    Elizabeth2020-04-10T00:00:00Z
  • Canyon Cottage provides the perfect place to retreat from the world. Amazing views across the Grose Valley with beautiful birds dropping in - king parrots, crimson rosellas, magpies, currawongs, kookaburras and a beautiful satin bower bird has built a bower in the garden. Comfortable space with log fire and kitchen equipped to cook up a storm. Highly recommended!

    Alison2020-03-29T00:00:00Z
  • We had an absolutely fabulous time at the cottage. A real retreat in the heart of the blue mountains. Rebecca is a superb host and I can highly recommend a visit. The access to wonderful walks and the cosy cottage with stunning views straight from the back yard really do make a great get away. Thanks and we will return and recommend to friends!

    Paul2020-03-23T00:00:00Z
  • A delightful getaway perched on the edge of one of the world’s most beautiful escarpments. Cooking essentials are in plentiful supply so you can rustle up a meal to enjoy on the back deck with the birds or by the cozy fire on cooler months. Really enjoyed the spa bath after a long bushwalk too. We will definitely return to this gem.

    Vanessa2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Rebecca’s cottage in The Blue Mountains

    Liz2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Rebecca is amazingly fast to reply to queries and to make sure my stay was as comfortable as possible. The place had everything I needed and the garden facing the mountains was amazing. Even though the forest fires were recent there is nothing to worry about.

  • We had an amazing experience staying here for the weekend. Although the location was a bit far from the shops, it was a peaceful retreat and is about 15 minutes from the Leura shops. Raphael had amazing service as he has been on board with any requests throughout our stay. He responds within minutes of contacting him and always replied in such a friendly manner. This place provides great amount of cooking utensils and crockery, and extra amenities such as a coffee pod machine and milk frother to get your day started. Overall, Raphael has made out stay a 10/10. The star ratings dont do it’s justice 🙂

    Cindy2020-03-30T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely working staycation at Raph’s place! He was so attentive in making sure that the wifi was up to scratch for our video calls, even made a personal visit to try and troubleshoot it for us. Great communicator and some great local tips too! Would 100% stay again.

Blackheath is a very quiet and friendly village known for its unique art galleries, quirky antique shops, cafes and boutiques. There are several beautiful parks and playgrounds, a historic pub which serves great food, a handful of restaurants and takeaway shops, and plenty of great places to enjoy a lazy brunch or coffee. You can easily walk to spectacular local lookouts like Govett's Leap with views of bushland and rural valleys. If you want to visit the Three Sisters or Scenic World, Katoomba is only 12 minutes drive from Blackheath. The beautiful Wentworth Falls and popular shopping village of Leura are also only 15-20 minutes drive. Mount Victoria is the next closest village about 8 minutes along the highway and has an atmospheric independent cinema set in a historic hall. They show mainly arthouse films and some blockbusters, and serve free coffee and tea. Great for a rainy day activity or date night! Blackheath is also only a 30 minute drive to Mount Tomah Botanic Gardens and Mount Wilson's beautiful historic village. The world-famous Jenolan Caves are about 45 minute drive away as well. If you plan to self-cater during your stay, there are two local supermarkets in Blackheath as well as a green grocer, free-range butcher, bakery, liquor store and deli. Katoomba and Lithgow are the closest towns with large chain supermarkets and department stores. If you are travelling by train it is best to bring your groceries with you, eat at the local hotels and cafes or order takeaway from the restaurants in Blackheath. Feel free to ask us for recommendations!

  • Great hassle free stay, very easy check in, great communication. The place was clean and stylish, highly recommended stay.

    Mark2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful home, much more spacious than initially thought. Light bright and very relaxing, I felt right at home. Definitely worth the stay. Only thing I can nit-pick is that the front 2 bedrooms don’t have a privacy screen so I was a little conscious of leaving the curtains open during the day. But really, we’re in the blue mountains, not the city. So not really an issue at all.

The Grand Canyon Walk starts also from Blackheath and you'll be there in a few minutes by the car (6km) or 15 min with the bus (you can use opal card / bus station is 50m away). Some walks are closed because of fire or flood damage, you should go to the Visitor Center first informing yourself about the current situation.

  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here in the Blue Mountains, returning home to the cottage after a day of exploring was fantastic especially with the spacious living area, quick heating & clean amenities. The cottage is in great proximity to the township, the rooms were clean & kitchen and bathrooms offered everything we required. Whilst there is no TV, the bookcase is full of books and games, and the fireplace offers a wonderful place to unwind after a busy day exploring.

  • Fran's place was lovely, peaceful and very clean and tidy. Fran was amazing, easy going, and so easy to communicate with both prior and during my stay. Fran's home has the bonus of two adorable companions in the form of Peppa and Ebony, the dog and cat residents. The location is beautiful, easy to access but secluded, and close to tourist attractions and amenities. Will definitely stay in the future.

    Selma2020-05-01T00:00:00Z
  • I really loved Fran's place, it was very clean, tidy, comfortable, has many lovely art works and painting on the walls. I loved it how i could see the stunning view from the kitchen, and also plenty of space on the deck where i could just sit there relaxing in nature with solitude :) Fran was friendly and very respectful, can't ask for a better host! • Don't skip out on this place! Fran's home (also called Karinya) was beyond all expectation. We would live here full-time if we could :) Fran was super helpful with recommendations for hiking trails in the area, places to eat, and other things to do. Also, we made fast friends with Ebonee the cat and Peppa the dog who were happy to greet us whenever we would return home. Undoubtedly a home away from home!

Frans home is stunning, very clean and private, the balcony overlooking Mt Solitary is particularly beautiful. Breakfast provided was also superb setting me up for a big day hiking or cycling. Thanks again Fran.

  • A lovely old cottage in a great location; an easy walk to the shops and restaurants of Blackheath, and to some very pleasant and scenic bushwalks. It was VERY cold while we were there, so the air conditioner and fire were well used; it was cosy and snug inside. The back garden is a beautiful spot to sit in the sun and read (or doze), and the front garden was fragrant with jonquils. Elizabeth is a wonderful communicator and the house was beautifully clean. Highly recommended and we hope to be back soon!

  • A cosy cottage within strolling distance of the village and local bushwalking. Great for a family getaway- we were there for the Easter Break- cooked dinner each night in a well supplied kitchen. Rooms warm and all common areas spotlessly clean.

  • We (2 adults, ~11 and 13.5 year old kids and an ~11 year old Maltese-Shihtzu) had a lovely time. Such a quiet and pretty street but close to town and dog-friendly bush walks. Lovely little old cottage with large fenced garden and all the basics, just right for us, not full of delicate or fancy ornaments and furniture. Comfortable beds and lounge. Very practical. Even though we were there during a heat wave, the air con made it bearable. We found somewhere new to eat or get take-away within walking distance nearly every night. We highly recommend this cottage to all dog owners and/or parents.

A relaxed retro mountains cottage, the perfect get away! Centrally located in Blackheath township, this home is cosy & restful within easy walking distance from the train, shops and so close to the sports & pool parks. Full of character, enough mod cons with charming blend of new & old - a great new kitchen to cook in, comfy beds. The crockery doesn't match. The wifi is strong. A reading nook. Lots of light, lots of room to share.
Blackheath is a beautiful township high in the Blue Mountains National Park. The Grose Valley wilderness on one side, the Kanimbla Valley on the other. We acknowledge the first custodians of the area, the Dharug people, and feel their continued presence in the land. A multitude of walking tracks, lookouts & waterfalls grace the outskirts, with the Blue Mountains Heritage Centre on Govett's Leap Road a great start to inform your choices. There are numerous coffee shops & restaurants, 2 great bakeries, art galleries, pubs & bars & the grand deco Victory Antique Centre to lose yourself in past eras. It can snow in winter, and be a blessing in summer to cool off in the Blackheath outdoor pool.
  • Lovely, comfy house with easy walking access to Blackheath town and a short drive from some breathtaking scenery. Kelly was friendly and efficient in her comms and we felt at home in her cottage straight away. Definitely recommend for a nice getaway.

  • Kelly's home is a gem in the mountains. Super comfortable, spacious, lightful and beautiful. Great base to explore the different areas as close too all tracks and away from tourists. Totally recommend.

  • We had a wonderful, relaxing stay at Kelly's place. The cottage was really nicely set up with everything we needed, including a well equipped kitchen. Kelly communicated so helpfully about check-in, how things worked and about the local area around Blackheath. There were lovely little extras like local walnut bread, jam and wine. The location is excellent. Highly recommend!

  • Glamis provided the perfect Winter getaway for us (a family of four with 2 teenagers). We all appreciated the proximity to the shops and cafes in Blackheath and the local bush walks. We enjoyed the stylish, warm and cosy cottage and the log fire was a bonus as it was an extremely cold and windy weekend. Chris was a very helpful host and provided all the info we needed to make it a restful and enjoyable long weekend. Thank you very much!!! Amanda & family

    Amanda2019-07-15T00:00:00Z
  • Great spot to stay...Blackheath has lovely walks, good coffee and nice shops to browse. Recommend Fumo and Cinnabar for dinner. We had awesome food and service at both restaurants. Loved our weekend at Glamis.

All the amenities you need for a relaxing family stay, plus great location with easy walking access to the shops and cafes of Blackheath, the public pool is a short walk down the hill, and the access to the Blue Mountains bush-walks all close-by. Black Magic Blackheath is a mid-century, retro-chic love shack and the perfect pad for a romantic mountains retreat with someone special. Black Magic is a stones throw from amazing walking tracks and scenic lookouts! The bedrooms have twinkling fairy lights, electric blankets and cosy accessories including vintage blankets and rugs. The kitchen has stainless steel appliances, gas cooktop/oven/microwave. A BBQ also available. There is no WiFi or TV available at Black Magic

  • Harmonie is an exceptional host; super responsive and willing to answer any questions!! You'll defs be blown away by how beautiful the place is. It has basically everything you need and Harmonie leaves some super helpful instructions for how to use certain things around the house. It's a short ways away from stores, cafes and lookouts, but I'd say having a car makes everything a lot more accessible. Overall, you won't be disappointed :)

    Kaydee2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Great location - Blackheath has lots of great hiking options. House has two bedrooms on opposite sides of a large central space( kitchen, living room ,dining area. Plus a large private backyard.

    Stephen2019-11-28T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing place! We had the best weekend with our 2 month old baby, so comfortable and peaceful with thoughtful touches, and Harmonie was an excellent and communicative host, will definitely try to come back!

    Rachel2019-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • This was truly an incredible stay for an anniversary getaway. The place is even more beautiful in person. The house is clean and homely. The location is fantastic and I cannot say enough good things about our stay. Already planning our next trip away.

    Joey2019-10-23T00:00:00Z
  • Harmonie’s place is awesome. Perfect for a quiet getaway nestled in a private setting. A lot of thought, time and love has gone into making this more than a place to stay. Everywhere you look there is something that catches your eye. Inside and out. The vinyl collection is a great touch as well as the cozy gas fire place. I would recommend her place to anyone looking for some quiet time to relax and let the world go by. Thanks for having us.

    Xavier2019-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • I thoroughly enjoyed my stay in this retro-chic cabin for a mid-week escape. After a day out hiking, I spent a cosy night in by the fire listening to the great record collection with a bottle of wine. The backyard has many places to relax with a cuppa and was full of birds which was a real delight to see. The cabin is close to great walks and the local shops yet quiet enough to fell like a total escape. Harmonie was easy to communicate and very responsive to any queries I had. I think I will be back to stay again soon.

    Vanessa2019-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • Black Magic is full of kitch cool retro finds including a vast vinyl collection. Impossibly clean and very comfortable. The backyard is perfect for dogs, the safe fence meant we could relax with a glass of wine while our boxer Frypan ran around his own private parkland.

Our place is close to Govett's Leap Lookout which has fantastic views. You’ll love it because of the very private location adjoining the National Park. The place is good for couples, particularly those who enjoy bushwalking.
The house is a spacious, peaceful retreat surrounded by bushland, on the very edge of the Blue Mountains National Park, and heated by gas log fires. The deck is a magnet for parrots and nectar feeders of many types. Sit with a glass of wine and enjoy their antics, or take the short stroll to the lookout to enjoy the views. For the more energetic there are plenty of walking tracks. The Blackheath shopping centre (with its cafes and antique shops) is just two minutes away by car, and bustling Katoomba is a fifteen minute drive away.
Blackheath is the highest village in the mountains and has a lively community with interesting shops and galleries as well as a variety of restaurants and coffee shops. There are monthly markets (1st and 2nd Sundays) and good Jazz in the Ivanhoe at the week-ends. Mount Vic Flicks at Mount Victoria is a must for cinema lovers
  • This place is in a fantastic location if you love nature and walking. The garden is beautiful bush. The house cozy and with great outdoor/indoor feel. We would definitely be back! Go for 3 nights not 2!

    Barb2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • A delightful , spacious 2 bedroom home set in beautiful, quiet bushland. The chef’s kitchen facilitated enjoyable meals, and the gas fire kept us toasty on a chilly weekend. We’d love to return!

    Wendy2019-07-14T00:00:00Z
  • Wendy's home is absolutely beautiful. My husband and I stayed for three nights. It had everything we needed. The house is situated amongst the trees, very quiet and peaceful. It seemed like we were in our own world. We were lucky enough to relax in the lounge area and watch the beautiful birdlife. It was also convenient to have many shops and cafes/restaurants just up the road. Thank you for allowing us to stay in your amazing home.

    Rose2019-07-11T00:00:00Z
  • Wendy's home was exactly what we were after. it was really spacious and comfortable and we really wanted a relaxing weekend away and it didn't disappoint. The spa bath was great for the Saturday afternoon with a nice glass of red and the house was big enough for us to have some personal time as well. It is a great location in Blackheath not to far from the shops and borders the Blue Mountains National Park for us to do a hike the next day. We will definitely be back

    Cheryl2019-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • Had a lovely stay here. The owners live overseas but were helpful and quick with communication, and had clearly gone out of their way to ensure guests had a smooth stay. The location is really peaceful and it's just a short walk from Govett's Leap. It's also a managable trip if you don't have a car...on the way there we took a bus from Katoomba, and on the way back we walked to the train station (25 mins at a brisk pace - one hill).

    Cheyne2019-06-30T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic location, lovely comfortable place with bush views from every window. Sparkling clean well stocked kitchen, and toasty warm electric blankets in bedrooms.

    Suzy2019-06-23T00:00:00Z
  • The home is enormous, well appointed and wonderfully secluded. Very good value for money.

    Annelize2019-06-20T00:00:00Z
  • Tucked away in the bush, just minutes walk from Govetts Leap, this house is the ideal place for having a relaxed and cozy lazy weekend, or to use as a base for exploring all the nearby hiking trails. The setting is private, interrupted only by the occasional eastern rosella and king parrot who want to share the back balcony. The huge living and dining area is great for relaxing, and there’s a seperate TV area. There’s an upstairs and downstairs bedroom each with en-suite, so ideal for two couples or a family to enjoy a weekend away.

This is the Blue House. Peaceful and quiet, but only 5 minutes walk to Blackheath station and to all that Blackheath has to offer. In winter, relax inside by the toasty gas fire. In summer enjoy breakfast on the sunny deck. Cross the road to the Memorial Park and swimming pool (open November to March). Tackle some of the Blue Mountains' great walks.
Location! Location! Location! How can we be so close to the station and shops and yet so quiet and peaceful? Well somehow The Blue House manages it - you won't hear the trains. You'll be looking at greenery and flowers from every window in the house. Walk to the Market on the 1st Sunday of the month at Blackheath Public School. Or on the 2nd Sunday, stroll up the hill to the nearby Growers Market. Take a short walk to the beautiful Blackheath Rhodedendron Gardens. And we're in the perfect location to enjoy the annual Rhodedendron Festival (1st weekend in November). Katoomba is less than 15 minutes away by train or by car to visit the famous Three Sisters and Scenic World. Or take a drive down to the Megalong Valley. How about a day trip to Jenolan Caves - less than an hour's scenic drive away. For the serious (and not-so-serious) bush walker, there are many stunning walks to choose from starting in and around Blackheath.
There's so much to say about Blackheath, but this is my favourite thing, and the main reason we bought The Blue House: Blackheath has everything a visitor or a resident may need, but it lies just beyond the reach of the big tourist buses and the madding crowds of Katoomba and Leura.
  • Great quiet location, trees and bird life abound. Very easy walk to the shops.

  • John and Ragna’s place is extremely lovely, cosy and clean. Their amenities were wonderful and plentiful and we saw birds in the garden during the day and thick, mysterious mountain fog at night. We didn’t get the chance to use the fire pit or BBQ but wish we had! The back space was lovely to sit in.

    Josh2019-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • John and Ragna are super hosts and their house is gorgeous. Spacious, sparkling clean and well equipped. Comfy beds with loads of pillows and super warm doonas. The wood heater was great as were the gas heaters so the place warmed up really quickly. Check in was easy with the lock box. We will definitely stay here again. Thank you John and Ragna for allowing us to stay in your gorgeous home.

Blackheath History Blackheath is full of colonial history. The first building in Blackheath was "The Scotch Thistle Inn" erected by Andrew Gardner in 1831. The Inn was visited by the renowned scientist Charles Darwin in 1836. The site for "The Scotch Thistle Inn" was located slightly south of the present Gardners Inn Hotel. The original staircase from "The Scotch Thistle" has been preserved and can be found in Gardners Hotel. Blackheath was originally named ‘Hounslow’. Governor Macquarie had second thoughts about the name when viewing the characteristics of the town. He saw the town as having a ‘charred, wild open heath-like appearance’ and so renamed the township Blackheath in 1815. Blackheath Village The town’s shopping centre has an extremely relaxed atmosphere. Of particular interest is the Victory Theatre. While the building is no longer used as a theatre, the owners have transformed it into a spectacular antique centre which is certainly worth browsing through. On the outside of the Victory Theatre is one of the town’s proudest displays, a colourful mural designed by artist Jenny Kee and painted in 1985 by members of the local community on behalf of the Blackheath Area Neighbourhood Centre. Blackheath Views and Bushwalks Blackheath is filled with natural beauty and there are many breathtaking views and bush walks to experience. Govetts Leap and Evans Lookout provide views of the Grose Valley (the starting point for the Grand Canyon Walk). A trip down into the valley will lead you to Edenderry and Hilary Falls. Evans Lookout also provides a sheltered picnic area. You can also start the Grand Canyon Walk from Neates Glen along Evans Lookout Road and visit Beauchamp Falls. Turn into Walls Cave Road off Evans Lookout Road and you will discover Aboriginal history with Walls Cave which is believed to have been occupied around 12,000 years ago. Things To Do Heading further west along the Great Western Highway, the next street to the right is Brightlands Avenue where you will find the Blackheath Golf Course. Sutton Park is located a little further along the highway, which is an ideal picnic or resting area. Blackheath also features a sports ground, tennis courts, swimming pool and bowling club located down Prince George and Leichhardt Streets. The next major turn off the Great Western Highway is through the main centre down Govetts Leap Road. Here you can find the Gallery Blackheath which exhibits fine art and drawings by selected Blue Mountains artists. Blackheath hosts the headquarters of the Blue Mountains National Parks & Wildlife Service. The headquarters also offers an Information Centre. For those who are confined to a wheelchair, or perhaps have a stroller, there is no need for you to miss out on the experience of bush walking in the Blue Mountains. From the Information Centre you can take the Fairfax Heritage Track to Govetts Leap where you will see abundant bird life and views of the Grose Valley. View the magnificent 608 metre drop of Govetts Leap Falls and the Blue Mountains' very own Grand Canyon as well as the forest below. There are many walking tracks from Govetts Leap. One of the walks will lead you to Bridal Veil Falls and Luchetti Lookout. Other walks will take you to either Trinity Falls or Horseshoe Falls. The Pulpit Rock Walk will take you to Cripps Lookout and Pulpit Rock. Popes Glen Walk will take you from Govetts Leap back towards the centre of town. Memorial Park features the Blackheath Swimming Pool, a playground for the children, plus much more! You can even feed the ducks. The horse and rider monument located on the Great Western Highway tells the story about Govetts Leap. It is well worth stopping to read the tale while perhaps waiting for fish & chips from the local shop across the road. Back on the Great Western Highway, the next street west of the railway station is Hat Hill Road. A drive along this road takes you to Hat Hill, Anvil Rock, Pulpit Rock and Perry’s Lookdown overlooking the Grose Gorge. Two streets west of Hat Hill Road, you'll find Ridgeway Road, which will take you to the start of Burramoko Trail which will take you all the way to Baltzar Lookout and Hanging Rock. Blackheath also boasts views of the Megalong Valley on the south side of the Great Western Highway. Blackheath is most famous for its annual ‘Rhododendron Festival’ held in November each year. The festival weekend includes some unusual activities such as the Chainsaw Competition. However the Rhododendrons are the major draw card as they are absolutely amazing. Visitors to Blackheath can visit the Blackheath Rhododendron Gardens located in Baccante Street. Blackheath also hosts the Blackheath Art Society's Members Exhibition at Easter as well as many other art exhibitions throughout the year.

A great base for exploring the mountains, Heathmist is also designed for those who want to escape for a few days and enjoy their own space.
Heathmist has been designed for relaxation. From the large leather lounges and deep bath with spectacular views, through to the outdoor balcony setting and Queen beds, our house is about unwinding and enjoying the tranquillity. There's ducted heating throughout Heathmist, ensuring a cosy environment on even the coldest of winter days. There's no fireplace, but the large double-glazed windows provide commanding views all year round, connecting you to the surrounding bushland throughout the day and into the evening. The open plan kitchen, dining and lounge allow you to stream your own music via Bluetooth to the soundbar, while you prepare a meal, enjoy a few wines, or simply gather around the dining table to eat and chat.
The village of Blackheath retains a traditional mountains feel. It provides a gateway to some of the Blue Mountains' most popular lookouts and Discovery Drives, and is home to the magnificent Rhododendron Gardens. Govetts Leap, Pulpit Rock, Perrys Lookdown, Anvil Rock and the spectacular Grand Canyon Track - a historic walking track which loops you through the heart of this World Heritage-listed landscape - are all just a short drive from Blackheath.

  • The other reviews are correct: Heathmist is brilliant, perfect in almost every way. The interior is beautiful, spotlessly clean with nice touches throughout. Excellent views from the large windows. The location is very private without being isolated. Can highly recommend this place for a trip to the Blue Mountains.

  • Simonettes place was brilliant! We had such a lovely stay there. So close to many stunning walks through the Blue Mountains. The hot tub was a perfect place to soak my sore legs after a day of walking taking in the sights. She has 2 fireplaces, one massive open fireplace and a smaller contained one. The smaller one was ample enough and heated up the place in no time. Such a cosy place to relax and take in nature.

    Kim2020-03-23T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay here, Simonette was very helpful and gave us plenty of ideas of things we can do in the area with our dog. The place was comfortable and serene.

  • Lovely place, very serene and beautiful outlook. Simonette was very responsive. The massive open fire on a cold night was awesome too. Would have liked to spend more time there, it was a good spot just to sit and read/relax inside or outside.

  • Great little cottage at the end of a dead-end street. Perfect location for a weekend escape to the Blue Mountains. The fireplace was a great addition to the already cosy cottage. Communication with the hosts was great and we had firewood supplied for us when we got there. After hours collection of keys was easy.

  • We had a great stay here. Blackheath was the perfect base for a weekend away in the Blue Mountains. The house was really cute and cosy. The fireplace was amazing. We'll be back.

    Livia2019-07-22T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed staying at In the Blue! The location is absolutely fantastic - it's very close (5 mins) to some of the Blue Mountain's best bushwalks (including Grand Canyon walk), and some stunning look-outs (Govett's Leap, and Evan's Lookout amongst others), while also being close to Blackheath town, and 10 mins to Katoomba. We loved being able to cook our meals and eat breakfast looking out to the stunning trees in the backyard, which were a kaleidoscope of autumn colours! As a tip for guests - if you are planning on cooking, bring your own cooking oil! The heaters keep the place nice and toasty, or if you prefer, you can light up the fireplace.

  • We all loved our stay at Heatherton House! Super cool old world house, lovely furnishings, amazing English gardens the kids enjoyed for hours. The house has all the comforts needed, is very warm and cosy. Two families stayed and there was enough room for kids to play and adults to relax. You do need to bring your own kitchen essentials like oil, salt etc but was no problem for us. Nice to have enough plates and glassware for a large group which isn't always provided. Alison was also quick to respond to communication and lovely to deal with. We would definitely stay here again.

Our location is the best in Katoomba, opposite the railway station and near all the buses. There's also plenty of choice for food - Katoomba has a wide range of eateries within a short walk.
The Gearin is the oldest hotel in Katoomba. Known as the Railway Hotel, it was run as a guest house by a Mrs Gearin. Sometime along the way it was refurbished in the Art Deco style, and features a ballroom, upstairs and downstairs accommodation with single rooms, double rooms and several rooms with ensuites. The Gearin has been neglected over the years, and is the process of refurbishment. Accommodation is basic, mostly shared bathrooms, and in need of some TLC. Plans are afoot to open a coffee shop in place of the original bar, the longest bar in Katoomba.
So much to do within walking distance - coffee, food, churches and coffee. Breakfast in various forms is available close by, but for the time being we can only offer tea and coffee in each room.
  • The place is under renovation, so as any building site, things are a little untidy. But the rooms are clean and comfortable for tgether price. Railway Station at front door or hotel or highway the other side. Free onsite parking. Walking distance to all Katoomba shops.

    Steven2019-11-13T00:00:00Z
  • I was wonderfully surprised by this stay. I found Room 15 at the Gerin to be fantastic value, as well as a clean, warm and sunny room. The Gerin (under new ownership and renovation) is in a handy location, right across from the train station, restaurants and amenities. For budget type accomodation, Keith went out of his way to assist and made my stay very comfortable. I really enjoyed my brief time there and would certainly visit again. Thank you!

    Vee2019-07-28T00:00:00Z
