  • The place we stayed took us by surprise, when my fiancé and I arrived at the home we were shocked how small it was. Little that we knew as we walked inside it was completely amazing and so relaxing. The amenities, the cleanliness, quick response in case we needed anything was all so amazing. The shops and store in the area were not much of our style so I can’t say much about that l. However, our transportation to Joplin back to Baxter was really easy and efficient. I would definitely recommend this home. Plus the owners are great.

    Darrick2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • This place is perfect! It’s spotless, AND gorgeous! You can tell the owners put much thought, love and soul into this place. From the type of flooring to the books on the counter, to the bathroom sink choice and to all the decor! It has everything you could possibly need as well! Enjoy! I know I will, if and when I come back through!

  • The yellow door was a nice inviting place for a stop along Route 66! Great bed, shower and access to laundry are just a few things that made the stay pleasant. Wish we had time for a longer stay!

Cozy upstairs one-bedroom apartment all to yourself! "Unit B" offers everything you need for a clean and comfortable stay in this home away from home.
New, new, new! So much in here is new and fresh. New bed, new couch, new chair, new dining set, new shower curtain, new bath mat, new silverware, and the list goes on!! You enter the upstairs apartment (NOTE: must climb about 8 steep- ish stairs to get inside) to find a darling living room, which has a smart tv, couch and comfy chair. The living room leads into the one bedroom. Here you will find a brand-new mattress and box springs with new, hotel-quality clean sheets and one of several bedspreads that we switch out between uses. There is also a twin air mattress for sleeping and the couch works, too. The bathroom is well-stocked with hotel-quality towels and any everything you need to take a relaxing bath or shower. The kitchen has what you will need to eat and cook a meal or just warm something in the microwave. In addition to the stove, microwave, refrigerator, and freezer, we have a coffee pot that you can use to brew fresh coffee. We keep some basic kitchen supplies for your use too, such as olive oil, salt, pepper, and a fresh jug of cold water. All kitchen utensils and supplies are provided for you. The unit has great parking. We ask that guests park on the right side of the "parking lot" to the unit, as our permanent tenant parks over to the left. There is easily enough room for two vehicles to pull in, and also street parking is available too. The neighborhood is near I-44, the hospitals (just a couple of minutes), several restaurants (Moe's, Schlotzsky's, Tropical Smoothie), two pharmacies (Walgreens & CVS), Mercy Park, the tornado memorial, and much more. This space is ideal for 1-2 adults. There is room for an additional child or even two, but it may get cramped. It’s a great space but small. There is room for a twin air mattress on the floor. This apartment would be ideal for a longer term stay.
neighborhood, within five minute drive of I-44, both hospitals, restaurants, and pharmacy.
  • Lauren’s Place was a great value and so cozy and quaint! There are games and movies as well as a smart tv for entertainment. The kitchen is equipped with all the basics and there are complimentary snacks too. It was super clean and the art was a very cool touch. There’s plenty of hot water and shampoo, conditioner and body wash are provided. The neighborhood is quiet and the balcony deck is nice to share a drink and relax. I would definitely stay here again!

  • This is the perfect apartment for the weekend or a short stay. The stairs where a bit funny sized but that is noted when you read the info on the place. Make sure you are aware of that - we had no problem as I expected it but if you have any kind of mobility issue it might be a struggle. My daughter and I loved staying here while in town for an event. Thanks!

(Quick Heads Up: I require prior Airbnb reviews for instant booking, so if you do not have any reviews yet, just send me a message!) An entire private basement in our family home with a private entrance! My goal is to make this space an INCREDIBLE VALUE with homey, personal touches. Check it out! If this place isn’t for you, check out my other listing: Unit B: Cozy Upstairs apartment near I-44/Hospitals.
Welcome! Here is a quick run down of the positives and the negatives: --NOISE. My family of 6 lives right above you. My kids are up at 6:30am. If you plan to sleep past then, it’s probably best not to stay here. Usually is quiet by 8pm. You will have to walk up and down this hill to access the basement. Some have described this hill as steep. It can be a little slippery after rain. --Kitchen limitations: there is no stove, no hot plate, and there is no ice maker. The fridge is a mini fridge. Pets: Two inside/outside cats, and a pug that poops in the yard and after whom I have the best intentions of picking up, but don't always. Great for kids. Lots of toys, lots of space, outdoor areas. ---Some extras: soap, shampoo and conditioner, and lots of colorful towels and washcloths. Some snacks, water, coffee. --Pretty space! --Location: Right off I-44, about three minutes from both hospitals, give or take, and five minutes from the Med School. I like to think it is a good value for the price. Okay I think that's it!! Let me know if you have questions.
We live in a nice/quiet/SAFE neighborhood on the southwest side of Joplin close to I-44.
  • Very clean, comfortable, and spacious. Beautiful children.

    Criss2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect stop on my cross country drive!

    Robert2020-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • The basement space was absolutely perfect for our family of four! The toy closet was fantastic for our boys, and there was so much space to spread out for work, play, eating, and lounging. We stayed for a week, so it was very nice to have a pack-n-play and sound machine already available for our little one to sleep well. Lauren provided helpful instructions for everything, and we were thankful for plenty of towels and great blankets! Our growing little guys loved the snacks. We couldn’t have asked for a better host! Everything was exactly as described, and the location was great. We will absolutely try to stay again when we return next year! Thank you, Lauren!!

    Kelsey2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • This place is perfect for us. Super clean, and Lauren leaves notes to help you with the space, and local eating tips too!

    Kat2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Lauren’s place is convenient to both area hospitals and accommodations were more than I expected. She is straight on letting you know “noise happens” with their young family above and that even in inclement weather there is an alternate entry

    Susan2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • This place was great! Close to everything, spacious place and perfect for a weekend trip!

    Rylee2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • Our favourite place to stop over on our journey to and from AZ. Lots of space and it feels like home.

    Josie2020-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • Lauren’s place was excellent! Super kid friendly, great communication, excess of conveniences such as pillows, towels toilet paper, etc that are easily accessible. Great place to stay. Thanks Lauren!

We loved the tiny space and how cozy and quaint it was. There was no TV but we absolutely loved that. It was nice to be away from all the noise of the city and enjoy the quiet and our time together! • This sweet guest house may be my favorite Airbnb stay yet! It is very clean, bright and stylish. Seriously great sleep in the comfy bed and I loved curling up with a vintage quilt in the reading chair. Brendan and Amber were gracious hosts and promptly answered any questions I had. The Murphysburg area is gorgeous and it was fun dreaming about the historic homes that you can see from the guest house windows.

    Amy2020-01-20T00:00:00Z

I will definitely return again someday!! :)

They gave us valuable tips on where to go for breakfast (at Bruncheonette). In fact, they went to breakfast there also and we followed them. Their home, our room and bathroom were super-clean and they had tasty goodies on our bedside table for us. Their little (Beagle-type) dog, Harry, greeted us in a VERY friendly manner without any barking.

    Tim2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • If you’re looking to be a part of a family this is the place for you! They made me feel so welcome! I adore their little family and I love the fact the dogs name is Harry! 😂 the bed was so comfortable & pillows pillows pillows!!

    Whitney2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • Very peaceful stay. Enjoyed my time!

    Chris2020-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • Great place! The hosts are super friendly, the bed is extremely comfortable, and it is in a great location in Joplin. This was my first experience staying in an AirBnB where the room is actually in the house, and it was a great experience.

    Tanner2020-01-23T00:00:00Z
  • Best Airbnb experience in my life. Most airbnbs just give you a place to stay and some towels but this experience was something else. The family welcomes you into their home and you get glimpse into their amazing family life. They offered me snacks, dinner, breakfast, and even a movie night with their family. I had my own bathroom and bedroom. The bedroom was immaculate and extremely comfortable. there were more pillows than I could ever need in a lifetime. If you had a car, they had plenty of room in their driveway. Their two children were rambunctious but extremely smart and charming. The space is very comfortable with the high ceilings and open concept common area. The baclyard faces the west and has some of the most beautiful sunsets I had ever seen. Out of the over 30 airbnbs I've stayed at, this affordable and charming space was the best I've ever experienced. Eric and Torrie welcome you to their home as if you are part of the family. In the three nights I stayed, i feel like I have been welcomed and cared for like another family member. If you are looking for a wholesome, warm, caring, and comfortable environment in Joplin, this is the airbnb to stay in. The home is less than 10 minutes away to anything in town. I will definitely be staying here again.

  • Eric and his family have an adorable house and a nice bedroom and bathroom for their guests. They had coffee for us in the morning. They left my husband a sweet note in preparation for his med school interview. We would definitely recommend this place!

This beautiful 1928 building was The Hideout for Bonnie & Clyde during their 13 days in Joplin, Missouri. They were accompanied by Buck Barrow (Clydes brother), wife, Blanche and friend, W. D. Jones. On Friday, April 13, 1933, Officers Harry McGinnis and JW Harryman responded to this location after receiving reports of bootlegging. Both officers died in the shootout that followed. A roll of film was left behind and provided law enforcement with the 1st images of the couple.
This five room apartment is located upstairs. The Barrow gang chose this location due to the 360 degree views from here, making the apartment bright and airy. You can watch the original movie "Bonnie & Clyde" in the living room where some of the events took place. Or, read Blanche Barrows book, MY LIFE WITH BONNIE AND CLYDE written from Blanches diaries. There is an entire chapter written about the events that took place during their 13 day stay in this apartment.
Located in south Joplin, close to a wide variety of food, entertainment and shopping. We have recovered from the F5 tornado that devastated our city in May 2011 and have come back stronger. Joplin is a beautiful place, full of history. Come for a visit.
  • For the insufferable history nerd it doesn't get better than this. I made the reservation/trip to Joplin because I was case as Blanche Barrow in a production of Bonnie and Clyde the musical, so I wanted to spend some time in the real place the Barrow gang inhabited. I was blown away by all the wonderful little touches Saundra put in the place to give the appearance of what it might have looked like all those years ago, as well as plent of reading material about the history there. (Plust plenty of amenities for an overnight stay-soap, plates, silverware, towels, cutlery, etc.)

    Deborah2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Fun, historic little place! Loved the experience!

    Amber2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • Great place. You’ll feel right at home.

    Margaret2020-01-11T00:00:00Z
  • I traveled over 500 miles just to see Bonnie and Clyde's hideout apartment, and I was not disappointed. My first impression of the apartment was that it felt as though the Barrow gang had just left. Saundra added a lot of little touches that made me feel like I was back in the 1930s, without sacrificing modern day conveniences. There is even a TV "hidden" in the living room. If you are interested in what happened during the Barrows' stay, there is a book written by Blanche Barrow on a table in the living room. Because of my interest in Bonnie and Clyde history, I may be a bit biased, but my only complaint is that my schedule would not allow me to stay another night. This gem is a must see if you are a Bonnie and Clyde enthusiast, or if you're just looking for a clean cozy place in a nice neighborhood. I will definitely be back.

    Erin2019-11-29T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you for making this awesome piece of history available to us! We fell in love with Joplin and this little hideout! Highly recommended!

  • Everything was just as expected! Super fast response and charming host.

    Connie2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • Saundra is an exceptional host, going the extra mile to make the experience of the Bonnie and Clyde hideaway an unforgettable stay! In keeping with history, she has placed emphasis on the loss of the lives of the policemen on that fateful day. It is furnished much like it would have been back then, but with modern amenities, a super comfortable bed, and fascinating details. You will not regret staying here and sharing your experience! Thank you for helping keep history alive, Saundra!

    Bryan2020-01-18T00:00:00Z
  • The place was really cute and perfect location for our trip. The cookies were a nice touch also!

    Sarah2019-12-07T00:00:00Z
  • Nice place to stay for a few nights right on the river. GPS took us right to the cabin. Stephen is a very easy going and friendly host. Great tiny loft for kids if you bring any. Washer and dryer is a very nice amenity.

    Ryan2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • Stephen's place was a perfect location for my husband and I's weekend getaway. It had all the amenities we needed with the perfect additional touches. The cookies lasted all of 30 minutes, we had enough stations to watch a few football games, and ample space to lounge and read together. I was also able to get in some work time on the WiFi. Our favorite part was watching the sunset from the river dock.

    Cheri2019-09-16T00:00:00Z
  • Truly a lovely cabin! The host was super available, friendly, & helpful. A quiet little place on the water was so relaxing.

    Ayn2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • Doesn't get any better than a cabin on the water; unless there are cookies. Sunsets, fishing and cookies!!! So looking forward to staying here again next year when I ride the Gorilla 100 again. Did I mention cookies?

    Rick2019-08-31T00:00:00Z

My Little House is a relaxing escape from the hotel scene or sharing a room in someone's home. This place is all yours and it has everything you need for a weekend or a short term stay. We love pets so don't leave yours boarded, bring them along. Just please make sure to clean up after them. I wouldn't recommend more than two people but the couch is quite comfy to nap on. Just ask my husband. :) Thanks for looking and I hope you choose the Little House for your stay in Joplin!

Good amenities, great shower pressure (and yes the shower is small but do-able and I’m a full figured girl). Bed is comfy and there is table for work space. I would definitely stay again and recommend highly

This is one of two guest rooms. Beautifully furnished room with a queen-sized bed, walk-in closet with desk/workspace, and access to a shared living space, kitchen, front porch, fireplace, and dining room. We are a few blocks from Historic Route 66, a 3 min drive from downtown, 10 minutes from the Joplin airport, 12 minutes from both Freeman and Mercy hospitals, about 12-15 minutes from Interstate 44 and 49.
The room itself has a queen-size bed, lounge chair, and walk-in closet. It features wood floors and a beautiful window overlooking the back yard. The upstairs bathroom is right next to your room and your door opens to a shared living space with a couch, chairs and plenty of space to relax.
Our historic neighborhood is called North Heights and was originally built by several wealthy families in Joplin's early days. Now it is a mixed low to high income family neighborhood, which makes it a unique transitionary space between the Roanoke neighborhood to the north and downtown neighborhoods to the south.

This Airbnb is housed in one of Joplin's Historic Landmarks, the Frederick H. Rogers House, completed in 1905. Frederick H. Rogers was a mining entrepreneur during the peak of the lead and zinc mining era. He engaged Austin Allen, the most prominent architect of the era, to design the house to his specifications. The house features domed ceilings, hardwood floors laid in the log cabin design and imported wood trim. The Rogers family called the house home until 1917.
The William H. Landreth family occupied the home from 1917-1953. Landreth was a prominent businessman and even though he never held public office was very much involved in the development of Joplin. He was instrumental in cleaning up the "Kansas City Bottoms" which was known as Joplin's red-light district, and donated that land to establish what we now know as Landreth Park. The Wieman family lived in the house from the early 1950s to the early 1980s. Dr. Harry K. Wieman was a leading physician of Joplin and was instrumental in the development of both the Freeman and St. John's Hospitals. His wife, Mary, was a reporter for the Joplin Globe Newspaper and taught English at Joplin High School. She too was an influential leader in the community.
North Heights Neighborhood is an eclectic mix of people that are good neighbors. Among them are business owners, professional people, academics and retirees. We stay connected on our facebook page: North Heights Neighborhood Group Joplin, MO. The Neighborhood Group stages social and service events throughout the year like Porchfest in October and Earth Day in April. The Group works to make North Heights a "Place to Belong".

Little Brick Empire is located in the center of town. We are seven minutes from I44 and Mercy Hospital and just five from from Freeman Hospital. KU med school is just blocks away. We are two minutes away from Cunningham Park which sports an awesome pool and play area for the kiddos. See pic. Five blocks away is a great grocery with a Starbucks and a tasty hot deli if you don’t feeling like cooking or going out and an incredible salad bar. We are close to great restaurants too. Downtown is a very short drive. There are lots of cool boutiques, restaurants and night life. Check out Pearl Brothers, a Joplin icon ‘mom and pop’ hardware store originally opened in 1905. They have tons of interesting items and it is like stepping back in time. So cool. You can relax on the shaded front porch of this little bungalow built in 1925. We are in a family friendly neighborhood. The neighbors are great! Inside you will find arched doorways and cozy rooms filled with windows and light. There are original hardwood floors and ample storage. If that is not enough storage-there is an entire dry basement. Decorated in boho/eclectic/traditional/hippie/old school/mid century/modern....we just hope you like it. The kitchen should have everything you need. There is coffee, tea, moo cows and sugar, basic spices and condiments. I am normally around but if I’m not, there will be a family or friend person to help. You can park your beauty in the garage, carport or on the street. The neighbors are nice. Almost forgot. We are about four minutes from Route66.
This is a family neighborhood. You may see a kiddo on a bike or playing in the yard. Cute older homes with character with tree lined streets. Take a walk around the corner (west) and see this old colonial that really looks like it belongs in New Orleans. Notice the detail in these fab old homes and be happy that almost all are kept nicely. That doesn’t always happen. The neighbors are friendly and that makes me very proud of our little town.
  • The LBE is a charming little home nestled in the heart of Joplin. The property is clean and comfy with all the amenities you need. If you forget a toothbrush, Marcy has you covered!!! This was our second stay at the LBE. It is a great gathering place for our family when we visit. Comfy beds, super clean and so affordable! We will definitely stay here again!!!

  • A group of us stayed in Marcy's Little Brick Empire while in town for a friend's birthday. The bungalow is small, but feels cozy and inviting. The decor was charming, there were plenty of linens, blankets, local suggestions, and coffeeeeee! My favorite part, though, was how well Marcy communicated with us -- I was never concerned about what I was supposed to do, if I'd have the right door code, etc. A great little getaway!

    Merry2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect location! Close to downtown and Ozark Christian College. Such a cute house in a good neighborhood. We love it!!

  • Marcy was a great host - quick responses to questions and a great little house! The house had everything we needed for our long weekend, and there were tips for local restaurants too. The neighborhood was mostly quiet. There wasn't a lot within walking distance, but nothing is too far by car in Joplin, and there are great parks and trails.

Their place was very clean and cozy. The pictures don’t do it justice. If we ever find ourselves back in Joplin, we will definitely be staying again!

    Zach2020-02-15T00:00:00Z

  • This home was very clean amd organized. The perfect amount of furniture and "homey" touches with the decor. The location is perfect and the neighborhood was quiet. We would highly recommend others to stay here! Bryan and Rebecca were also very helpful and gave timely responses to our questions. We ended up leaving an item behind by accident and they were willing and eager to help us get it back any way they could. Excellent hosts!!

  • Super cute place! Perfect for our needs. Close to OCC and downtown. Definitely recommend others to stay here!

    Tamy2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Bryan and Rebecca’s place is a wonderful little retreat in the heart of Joplin! The place is spotless and they have done a great job of making the space cozy - truly a home away from home! The beds were super comfy and the couches as well. The kitchen is well stocked with Keurig, coffee maker, toaster, and all you need to make meals. Their response time was quick and they even brought over toilet paper for us when we got low! We totally recommend staying at the Red Door Retreat and hope we have the opportunity again one day!

Sitting atop Stone Haven, a separate entrance leads upstairs to a charming sunny space filled with every creature comfort. The stone cottage sits on a hillside in North Heights, with a view of the Ozarks, in a quiet, well-established neighborhood just blocks from historic Route 66, Ozark Christian College and downtown Joplin. Here is also the site of the Bonnie and Clyde shootout, among other historic sights too numerous to mention. If you have a larger group, both flats together can sleep 8.
Perched on the edge of town, Stoney Heights is the 2nd story of this quaint stone cottage. It’s been lovingly decorated and furnished to make you feel comfortable and at home. Think soft linens, beds piled high with pillows; hot showers and soft thick towels; quilts and cocoa; tea and cookies; a good book or puzzle. The decor may change with the seasons, but the kitchen is fully stocked, just add food. Whether working or relaxing, we want Stoney Heights to feel like another home to you.
North Heights is a well established neighborhood on the edge of town that borders on the prestigious Roanoke. Stoney Heights sits atop a hill on a lovely quiet street that is sprinkled with stately homes as well as more modest homes.

  • This upstairs flat is quaint, clean, very economical, and perfectly located for forays not just to Joplin, but also Pittsburg, Webb City, and spots like the Undercliff and the spooklight. We'd strongly recommend visiting The Bookhouse Theater and The Red Onion Cafe when you stay. Kim's a terrific host and very quick to respond to communications.

  • Kerry & Terrie were great hosts! They have 3 pups (plus they had some more puppies!) when we stayed. They gave us the warmest greeting, but if you're not a dog person, this isn't the place for you. The bed was so, so comfortable, and Kerry & Terrie provided everything we needed for a great stay. The location of their place is amazing--close to restaurants and KCU, but far enough away to get out of town and be able to see the stars. Would highly recommend staying with Kerry & Terrie! They have a lovely home.

Surround yourself with the nostalgic charm of the Mother Road in small town USA in our tidy, eclectic 2nd story guest home! Clean and cozy, this airy space has been designed for you to feel right at home. Bonus space: Grab a cold beverage, prop up your feet on the covered balcony, and enjoy your front row seat to small town USA.

  • The place is an endearing mix of old and new, giving it tons more charm than your average hotel stay. It was also immaculately clean, and when the site says the towels are wonderfully fluffy, believe it. They feel oh so good and smell like heaven. This was a real find!

  • If you want a right at home feel, this is your place! My husband and I loved the cute little setup. The coffee nook was a nice touch, the decor is very fitting for the building and the location, very cool to stay on Route 66. There are lots of games to play, they even had my husband and I's favorite game to play with friends and family... Quelf! The beds are so comfortable I had to ask the host where I could get one for home! Very easy check in/out! Beautiful balcony you can enjoy a nice morning cup of coffee ☕ we will definitely be back! You know your husband approves of the place you picked when he says "wonder what they would charge to rent!" That in itself is a huge complement! So, while traveling why not make yourself feel right at home for a great price! You'll wake up in the morning, step out on the balcony, and have a nice cup of coffee with some fresh fruit or some yummy danishes and reflect on what a great decision it was staying at The Old Riverton Post! We did!

  • My husband and I enjoyed the stay here. This was a great first experience using Air B&B. The coffee was delicious. The towels and bedsheets were really clean and smelled great. Perfect little home for a little stay. Also way cheaper than any hotel would have been, and felt a better homey experience. My husband is a huge nerd, and loved the pictures on the wall in the bedroom. The first thing I noticed was how clean the place was, and it was very warm when we walked in 10/10 would recommend.

  • Great little last minute find. The house was super cute and clean. The neighborhood is older and a bit run down but quiet and we never had any issues. There are train tracks pretty close and very active. It never bothered me but if you're a light sleeper, it's something that you may want to consider. I'd definitely stay again

  • Kenneth is a very gracious host. He even salted the walkway and stairs to the front door since it was snowing in Joplin. The room is very clean and quiet. The bed and pillows are comfortable. I slept like a rock. Kenneth even suggested a wonderful little restaurant for dinner.
