Places to stay in Aptos Hills-Larkin Valley
March 15, 29 - April 1st now open. There has been a lot of concern about the Covid-19 virus. We are now sterilizing the hard surfaces in our listings. We are quite isolated here so your exposure risks are much lower than in a city. If you have been exposed to it, please don't make a reservation. We have been listing the Mushroom Dome Cabin with airbnb since July '09 and have had the most reservations of any of their listings - in the world. We have had over 5,000 guests from over 50 countries.
As we are no longer allowed by Santa Cruz county to rent the Mushroom Dome Cabin, we are now listing the LAND of Paradise Suite, a room in our unique home. (LAND: Love And Nature Divine) Make a reservation for the Suite, you will also have unlimited access to the Mushroom Dome.We have 10 acres next to land without fences so you will get to enjoy nature: just hang out on the deck, take a hike in the woods, watch the hummingbirds on our deck, pet the goats, go to the beach or gaze at the stars - as long as the moon isn't full. ; - ) During the summer, if there isn't any nightly fog, we can see the Milky Way here. To check our availability, click on the "Request to Book" link. And yes, if it isn't available, it is already booked! If you want to stay here on a weekend, you will usually need to make your reservation request about 6-11 months in advance. We have another listing: the Hummingbird Haven. It usually has more availability. You can find it here: airbnb.com/rooms/6562632 (Please read all of this description before making a reservation request.) The cozy and clean semi-rustic retreat space has a loft under a geodesic dome (the "mushroom cap"). In the loft is a Queen-sized super popular Casper Mattress which allows for very comfortable meditation and/or sleeping and just hanging out. We provide clean sheets and pillow cases. Plenty of blankets are also provided. In the LAND of Paradise Suite, is a double bed as well as a fold out bed, a small fridge, an electric tea kettle, teas, and coffee. Let me know if you want to cook meals here and I'll tell you how. The other "bed" is a couch that we can make up into a bed. If there are going to be 2 of you, but you want separate beds, please make the reservation for 3 or let me know ahead of time - there is a $10. charge for using it as a bed. On the main floor of the Meditation Mushroom retreat (a Pentagon) is the couch a pull-out table and 2 chairs. We provide a small refrigerator, a Hot Air Popcorn Popper (and the kernels), French Coffee Press, an Electric Water Kettle, a wine opener, dishes - and more. We have 2 tables where you can enjoy meals, games, etc.: 1 inside and 1 outside on the large deck that faces the redwoods. We also have a barbecue grill on the deck with an extra gas burner on the side. We provide Organic Coffee, teas, Oatmeal, popcorn, butter, honey, sugar, nutritional yeast (for the popcorn!) spices, oil and vinegar and various snacks. Our well water is treated by an ozonator, a UV light and a soft water filter. If you have a baby and you won't be needing the second bed, make your reservation for 2 and let us know if you will need a small pad for the loft. Again, if there are 2 of you but you want to use the second bed, please make your reservation for 3. The cute bathroom has a Travertine shower, custom tiled sink and a Natures Head self-contained composting toilet. Some guests have had a problem with our bathroom, so I want to make it clear that we have a curtain for the door to the bathroom and we require that you put your used toilet paper in the trash. (it won't smell) If you follow the instructions for how to use the toilet, it won't have any odor. If you stay here for more than 1 night, you may need to change the pee bucket. We will do it for you if you want, but we do need you to pay attention to the pee level so it doesn't overflow! If the thought of using a composting toilet grosses you out, then don't make a reservation here. ; - ) We provide towels, soap, shampoo, conditioner, a hair blow-dryer, etc. (a word of caution: the bathroom has a low ceiling. If you are over 6' you may have to do a little ducking here and there.) As Saturdays are very much in demand, (and we like to be free on Saturdays), we require a minimum 2 day stay on the weekends: Friday to Sunday. On 3 day holidays, we require a 3 day reservation. (This includes Presidents Day, Memorial Day, M. L. King day, and Labor Day.) But to stay here on a weekend, you will usually have to book the cabin 6 - 8 months in advance - unless you are lucky to find a cancellation! Check-in time is between 4 and 10pm. If you want to come sooner or later, this can sometimes be arranged. Check-out time is noon. As we have experienced some damage from guests, we are now requiring a $100. security deposit. Although it feels very isolated here, we are less than 10 minutes to Aptos Village where you will find stores, New Leaf (a very large natural food store), restaurants, a health food store, Safeway, etc. We are centrally located on the Monterey Bay: 10 minutes from the beach (Rio Del Mar and Seacliff State Beach) as well as the 10,000 acre Forest Nisene Marks State Park for miles of hiking or dirt biking in the Redwoods and along Aptos creek. We are 20 minutes to downtown Santa Cruz, 25 min. to the Beach Boardwalk, 45 minutes to Monterey and the world-famous Monterey Bay Aquarium, 50 min. to Carmel and 1 1/2 hours to Big Sur going south and San Francisco to the North. Yup, we are located in one of the most beautiful areas of California. (these times are not during rush hour(s) ; - ) If you love hummingbirds, bring your camera. Our garden is the year-round home to many Anna Hummingbirds. (We usually have about 300 - 600 year-round) During the summer, we are also called home by many Rufus and Allen Hummers as well. So you have got to see our "Hummingbird Airport" where we feed them about 130 oz. of syrup on a summer day! Please, no smoking or vaping in the cabin or on the property. We used to let smokers stay here, but they stink up the cabin and it is a fire hazard outside. Some cell phones don't work here, but since we have free wifi in the cabin, if your phone works with a wifi network, you are good to call. You can sometimes get Verizon service on the swinging seat by the driveway. To learn about things to do in the area, do an internet search for Santa Cruz, CA. Dogs are welcome to stay here but with a few requirements: since we have so many animals, we require that your dogs be kept on a leash when outside (the goats get very nervous with large loose dogs). Also, we don't allow dogs in the loft or on the couch downstairs so please bring a doggie bed. (your doggie can go on the couch if you bring a cover for it) If that is difficult, let us know and we will provide a doggie pillow. We have a gate that we can set up so your dog can be off the leash on the deck. If you are bringing a small child, we can put a folding futon (2/3rds of the futon or a foam pad next to the bed ) Just let us know ahead of time. Keep in mind, though, that a child should not be left in the loft by themselves as the bed is fairly high up against the rail. As we are about 3 miles to the nearest bus stop, it is pretty difficult to stay here without a car. You are invited, if you feel you would be harmonious here. Pet the goats, check out our chickens, cats, miniature dog and enjoy the very fresh air. If you come here when there is no moonlight and the sky is clear, you will see lots of stars. Tired of the heat in the summer? Since we are on the edge of the "fog belt", it can be both sunny and cool here. If you want a noisy place, you won't like it here: most of the sound here comes from the birds or crickets chirping, the tree frogs croaking and the breeze blowing through the trees. People do live on the land here though, so don't expect it to be totally devoid of human sounds and the occasional chain saw. : ) (We feed the goats oak branches)
Even though we live only a 8 minute drive to Aptos village and the beaches, it feels very remote and private here. It is usually very quiet at night - sometimes we can hear the ocean waves crashing on the beach. There is lots of land to hike on and explore here as well. We have 8 people living here in a rather loose community.
  • The Mushroom Dome is exactly as magical as described and was just the getaway I was looking for. The location is fantastic; secluded enough to enjoy the beauty of the natural surroundings while being close enough to town for all the food and groceries I needed. Not only did I enjoy the trails on the property, but I also appreciated the sizable DVD collection provided. Kitty & Michael were extremely attentive hosts and had great food and activity recommendations in the area. I would definitely love to return. (Oh, and that bed is super comfortable!)

    Chris2020-03-20T00:00:00Z
  • Magical place, closer to Capitola and to great beaches! The mushroom dome is unique, very comfortable and Kitty is a sweetheart. Her dog Elliot is also a formidable companion :) The place invites you to disconnect, enjoy nature, cook, rest. It was the perfect setting to celebrate my partner’s birthday!

    Alisson2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • Kitty gave clear directions on how to get to the cabin and even personally met us at the driveway so we could get to know our hostess which was so nice. We were a little put off by the idea of a compostable toilet but after experiencing one and how clean and easy it seemed to maintain we're looking into replacing our standard toilet for a compostable one as well! Her cat milo was so friendly, although I'm allergic I couldn't help but show some love...and take some claritin! The landscaping was breathtaking throughout. Can't wait to come back with a book or two to read and enjoy in the garden. Kitty has a rulebook put together which some may find daunting...but if you read through the rules are pretty common sense. We loved her sense of humor and are looking forward to booking again soon.

  • Quiet, relaxing and quirky...enjoyed my stay!

    Heidi2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • This was by far one of the most amazing experiences I’ve ever encountered. Such a serene and beautiful environment. Kitty and Michael are incredible hosts and made us feel extremely welcome.

    Kitzia2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Very great hosts and Kitty will take the extra time to welcome you and provide a little history about the place. The environment is serene and relaxing especially sitting on the deck drinking coffee and or having breakfast.

    Nada2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • Even if you expect it to be perfect, Kitty & Michael will give your time a chance to expand your concept of perfection

    Paul2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • Kitty and Michael are gracious, kind-hearted super hosts. You will fall in love with the Mushroom Dome; my two friends and I felt at-home very quickly. The location is beautiful, the hosts are absolutely lovely, and the place itself is breathtaking. The bed upstairs is super comfortable and the shower is pleasant as well, with water that warms up right away. The Mushroom Dome is incredibly charming, and hearing about it’s history from Kitty adds another element of awe to your experience. This was my friends’ and I first AriBnB experience, and we feel so lucky to have chosen such a perfect place. None of us stumbled across any issues with our stay, and our entire trip was smooth and enjoyable. If you find dates that work for you, I urge you to book, I can’t imagine anyone regretting this stay!

  • This place is perfect for a romantic weekend getaway, or a week long getaway. You overlook the water and the path to the beach is a quick 3 minute walk down. The view is unbelievable. You hang out on the cliff, engulfed by the glorious beauty of the forever pounding ocean. Leave your white noise machines at home. The melodic drum of the waves crashing is perfect for bed time as well as meditating on the glorious, sunsoaked deck. Seashells abound in the early morning. The tides bring in some especially fantastic jewels across the coastline.

  • The Sunset Cottage is the perfect place to unwind and relax on the beach. Gorgeous view and a cozy, quaint space to decompress away from it all! Thanks again Nonie!

    Matthew2020-01-21T00:00:00Z
  • LOVE this place! The location and view are unbeatable. The studio is steps from the ocean, cozy, nice TV, and lots of blankets to keep warm. We hope to be back soon!

    Diana2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • WOW. If you're thinking the place is a little out of your price range, ask yourself what does a beautiful unique location on the beach mean to you. Then ask yourself, again, about all the times you might have tried to save a little. This is NOT one of those times!! The breathtaking views, comfy amenities and delicious, refreshing sounds and feel of rolling ocean waves make it all worthwhile. Indulge. Enjoy. You're worth it. You never know what you're missing, but this place is not to be missed. Monie's hospitality tops it all off with a healthy dose of comfort and accommodation.

  • This is a great spot for a relaxing solo retreat. I loved the outdoor tub and the privacy, surrounded by nature.

    Sara2020-04-29T00:00:00Z
  • Cute spot nestled in nature. It was beautiful to be immersed in nature sounds, sit by a fire, and soak in the bathtub. The outdoor bathtub, although a bit old was amazing. The hammock under the redwoods is so relaxing. The bed was comfortable and room was cute and clean. It is more on the simple side which is what I love, but if that’s not your thing it’s good to know about. Stephanie was quick to respond to messages and very helpful!

    Kristy2020-04-26T00:00:00Z
  • Went Beyond all of my expectations. Very special place. Stephanie is very responsive and professional as a host & extremely helpful. This is a gorgeous quiet retreat away from the world. The outdoor bathroom is extremely sophisticated and it’s rustic boho chic qualities went way beyond what I was expecting. The bed is the most comfortable bed that for the first time in years I felt like I got a real deep sleep. Such a magical place.

A magical Redwood Treehouse located it the beautiful Santa Cruz Mountains. There is a live tree growing right through the main living area and another in the bathroom! It is simply incredible. It was built by my friend, Randy, a stained glass artist. Everyone who sees it are delighted by it. Please read entire description before making a reservation request. It has a delicious high-bed, a kitchen with a small stove and refrigerator, and typical cooking tools. There is a full bathroom with shower and toilet of course. There is now a hot-tub at about 103 degrees ready for your soak before bed or a morning treat. The Treehouse is a short walk of a few hundred yards (about four minutes) through the beautiful woods from the parking area. There is a gas stove for heating. There is a TV and DVD player with many movies to choose from. For travelers this is the best of both worlds. A wonderful treehouse nestled in the redwood forest, a short distance to HWY 1(Pacific Coast HWY) the main vein to Monterey, Carmel-by-the-Sea, Big Sur, Capitola and Santa Cruz and the HWY 101 Corridor. People come from all over the world to experience the Pacific Coast specifically the Monterey Bay area. It is an area rich in history. Here you will find world class art, music, cuisine, golf, surfing, sightseeing, hiking, biking, sunbathing, whale watching, birding, fishing, Monterey Bay Aquarium, Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk and so much more. You can spend the day engaged in a variety of activities, physical and/or cultural. However you spend your day you can return home to a mountain treehouse and quiet. The weather here is excellent. It is located in a micro climate called a ‘banana belt’. Though the beach is only 25 minutes away we are often in the sun when our neighbors in the valley and on the coast are in the fog. Winters are mild we average 25” of rainfall a year. Summers can be warm but delightful. The fog rolling in at night is nature’s air conditioner and everything cools down. The weather is nearly perfect. Fog burns off early enough to make the beaches comfortable all day. The Santa Cruz Mountains are home to Sequoia Sempervirens commonly known as a Redwood Tree. They are native only to a specific part of Pacific Coast region. Come and visit our amazing part of the world and experience something special about the California Coast. All linens are provided. The kitchen has the basic items for cooking, i.e., spices, oil, vinegar, sugar, and tea. Two-night minimum on weekends. THREE-DAY MINIMUM on HOLIDAY WEEKENDS. A 60.00 cleaning fee will be charged per each stay. We are a green establishment. Environmentally friendly cleaning products are used. We ask our guests to consider using fewer towels during their stay and not requesting a sheet change unless your stay is longer than a week. I have a moderate cancellation policy. You must cancel a full seven days before your reservation. Please make sure that you read it thoroughly. You will be charged 50% of your stay if you cancel after the grace period.
  • My boyfriend and I feel this tree house is a hidden treasure. We were blown away at the level of craftsmanship of the house, as there are two great redwoods growing straight through it. One in the living space and another in the bathroom. We loved the rustic and homey feel of this woodsy den. The elevated bed was extremely comfortable and we enjoyed watching legends of the fall by candlelight after a home cooked dinner. The jacuzzi was an added gift to our beautiful night. An amazing setting with a backwoods feel. Our hosts were especially friendly and also accommodating. Expect a short trek through the redwoods to reach this gem. We suggest packing light and bringing a flashlight. A unique and soulful place with a story. The perfect place for a romantic stay.

    Genoa2020-05-01T00:00:00Z
  • It was such a lovely stay! Very quiet and cozy. We went in the jacuzzi, made dinner with a kitchen that had everything we needed, took a warm shower and watched old black & white movies while putting together a puzzle! The best part was our doggies were able to join us! Thank you MJ for making our tree house dreams come true :)

    Caitlin2020-04-26T00:00:00Z
  • Wow! What a unique and special experience :) a short walk to the tree house very private. There are other dogs in the area so be weary if you also have a pup I had no issues !! Very friendly pit across the way that played with my pup around the woods ! There was a friendly face once we arrived to make sure we knew were to go to the home! The best part (other than the fact that we were in a literal treehouse) was the lights all around the house! I was able to get some amazing photos. Thank you for being an amazing host ! Some tips! Don’t pack too much since there is a walk to the home Don’t pack too many cold food items or larger items as she notes in the photo it is a mini fridge! Bring coal if you wanted to use the little grill. Bring coffee grounds (if you need it) AND ENJOY. YOURE IN A TREE HOUSE!!

  • Our April visit to the Redwood Treehouse was a birthday treat for my husband, planned months ago before the uncertainty in the world today with the pandemic around us all. Our host, Mary Jane, welcomed us to her place & we felt very much like kids, as we made our way to our 3-night adventure. The small trek into the redwoods offered an immediate tranquility...it led us out of the hectic world & into a more serene one. Seeing the treehouse all nestled in the beauty, we were anxious to see inside! The warm feeling when we first opened the door was incredible to say the least & something I don't remember ever having in a traditional stay. Everything has been thoughtfully arranged & there wasn't anything we needed outside of the food & drink we took along. We enjoyed the views while we sat outside with our morning tea, & again in the late afternoons with a bottle of wine & some cheese after a nap. The hot tub was the perfect temperature & relaxed us before bed, as we would then enjoy a movie together in the quiet around us. Sleep was most soothing & so needed from our everyday city pace - the bed was comfy & warm, with a nice gas stove for a special ambiance that I don't remember having in my childhood treehouse :) My husband cooked up the meals on the grill, as I finished up in the kitchen - sitting down to a dinner table had become foreign to us with our schedules & we loved connecting with each other again. Mary Jane, we will be back...hopefully, we'll be able to nuzzle our way back on the calendar soon since many of our friends are looking to schedule their much needed retreats too...they're looking forward to the serenity we've TRIED to describe! Thank you for sharing the treehouse adventure with us - we're still enjoying the memories!!

    Kelly2020-04-22T00:00:00Z
  • Mary Jane's place was amazing!!! Can't say enough how beautiful the treehouse is, especially with all the twinkle lights on at night. The cabin is very rustic and charming, and has everything one needs for an amazing stay. We loved that we had to hike down a trail for ~5 minutes to get there - it just added to the special experience. The hot tub was the cherry on top! We used it every night.

    Alex2020-04-17T00:00:00Z
  • This was our second visit to the treehouse and it was just as great as the first visit. We love the secluded location amongst the redwoods. A wonderful destination to get away from it all. Definitely a unique and special experience staying here. Mary Jane is the ideal Airbnb host. She provided us with all the information needed and was quick to respond with any questions.

  • Amazing treehouse stay. Legit treehouse with trees growing right through the space while still feeling cozy and homey as a old timey cabin. Clean and well organized. No bugs. Heaters worked well. SO amazingly quiet. Walking through the forest to get to the spot was super fun.

It's perched on top of a small valley, overlooking the ocean. The neighborhood is very quite a private - please do not disturb our neighbors. Absolutely no parties or outside amplified music.
  • This treehouse home is truly one of a kind. Pictures can hardly do it justice. From peering out above a stunning canopy of trees that are almost jungle-like to the breathtaking ocean view, you feel shockingly remote and peaceful, all while being just walking distance from several picturesque beach towns. Thrilled with our stay here!

  • The tree house is chic! The scenery is pretty good too! It's a bit cold in winter, and the heating equipment in the house is not good enough.

    Zhencong2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • My favorite Airbnb by far.

    Karen2019-12-16T00:00:00Z
  • The treehouse is such a magical place and words cannot fully describe its beauty. During the night of our stay, the forest was filled with fog. Under the moonlight it truly feels out of the world. Waking up to the sunrise, we even saw some deer wandering through the forest outside. Inside of the house is super clean, well organized and comfortable. The bathroom is a bit on the small side. But for us it worked out perfectly fine.

  • Wonderful little spot; relaxing, easy, accommodating, and refreshing experience.

  • Couldn’t be easier! Basically walked right into the house, and we were greeted quickly after by Jay and Lisa. It was a beautiful great away! Very clean, and we loved the piano in the house!

  • This cottage is an oasis under the most beautiful redwood forest. Woke up every morning looking up at the trees through the skylight in the bedroom. it was so peaceful drinking coffee every morning on the deck and taking a jacuzzi under the stars and trees in the evenings. We had such a marvelous time. It is also nice and close to some of the best surfing spots in Santa Cruz. We were lucky to have great waves this week. If we could have extended the stay we would have!! We are already trying to plan a trip to come back. Thank you Jay and Lisa! You were so welcoming and gracious.

    Alex2020-04-24T00:00:00Z
  • What a ZEN space. Out in the red wood mountains. The jacuzzi was where we spent most of our time. The deck was perfect to lay out a couple of yoga mats and just breathe in the fresh Forrest air. If you’re looking to get away from the city and relax then this is the place to be. The house was so cute and decorated with some sweet rock and roll posters. There was also a speaker provided to play some tunes. We will definitely be back to jays place in the future!

    Gabrielle2020-04-19T00:00:00Z
  • This was perfect for a weekend getaway in nature. The property is beautiful, and the skylights, jacuzzi, and fireplace were nice touches. We loved all the Grateful Dead posters & artwork too. Thank you, Jay & Lisa!

    Jillian2020-04-12T00:00:00Z
  • Very well appointed cottage. The hosts are very responsive and friendly. It was a nice place to light a fireplace, enjoy the views of the redwoods through the skylights and curl up with a good book.

  • Such a beautiful experience at Jay and Lisa’s place. It was the perfect peaceful getaway. Plenty of hiking nearby. We definitely want to come back again!

JADE STUDIO has a queen bed, private bathroom with shower, kitchenette, private entrance via side stairs, and private second-story deck. PRIVATE BUT NOT PRIVACY: The studio is inside our home so although we may never see you, we may hear you and you may hear us because the walls are thin. ADDITIONAL BED: For 1 or 2 guests, the queen bed is provided. If you would like separate beds, please tell us and we will set up the futon bed for a one-time charge of $30. For 3 guests, we set up the single futon bed. Price is included. For 4 guests, we set up an additional single floor bed. Price is included. This includes ethernet connections (with adapters) and available landline, as well as option to turn electric breakers off nightly or all day. Be sure to notify us when you book if you want this option.
Our neighborhood is a relatively quiet neighborhood with an assortment of people who enjoy living near the beach--including long-time residents, families, retired people, UCSC students, and surfers interspersed to keep it characteristic of Santa Cruz. Two blocks away is a modest shopping center which hosts the local farmer's market on Sunday mornings. A handful of eateries and a coffee shop, from fast food to upscale dining, line the two blocks toward the beaches. A back way to the beach (our special secret) is three lovely blocks, two of which are walking/biking trails, one lined with Cypress trees, and the next along a lagoon lined with Eucalyptus trees. The Harbor and Crows Nest restaurant and nightclub are a several blocks to the west along the shore. Downtown Santa Cruz is 3 miles west and Capitola, a quaint seaside town, is 2 miles east. Both are easily accessible by bike lanes, public transportation and car.

  • They are very nice with a pretty house. There are several things to do around

    Akram2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • Ray and Cathy not only share their beautiful home but their welcoming nature which made our stay very relaxing and comfortable. Oscar was a true delight; a well-behaved and sweet presence in his home. All the amenities one could expect from a well-appointed and thoughtful host. Quiet beauty surrounds the homes in La Selva Beach- just what we were looking for.

    Yvonne2020-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • Enjoyed our stay. The place was clean and the bed was comfortable. They have a beautiful dog named Oscar. He was so quiet and friendly. The house is beautiful. Cathy and Ray are very welcoming, made youfeel at home. They left out brochures to different attractions which was very helpful. Would definetly stay again.

    Theresa2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • My stay with Cathy and Ray (and their adorable, quiet, and sweet little dog Oscar) was awesome! The bed was comfy, the room was beautiful with a high angled cieling, ameneties were plentiful including coffee, fruit, yogurt, cable TV, wifi, beach chairs, beach towels, and a free parking pass for the local state beach (which would have cost $10). The communication was great. This is a true 5-star gem.

    Kevin2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • Ray & Cathy have a fantastic property in a great location of La Selva Beach. They are very gracious hosts with plenty of local knowledge on things to do in the surrounding area. Cathy and Ray were very attentive to our needs and made every effort to make our stay a memorable one. Breakfast was particularly enjoyable with an amazing view of the back landscape through the back windows of the house. Easy parking and access to the property was also a plus. You will not be disappointed with this gem of a property! We will definitely keep Cathy and Ray in mind for future stays in La Selva Beach!

    Mike2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • Thoughtfully provided brochures to many local parks and attractions. The park pass and breakfast offerings were a nice touch too. Thanks for the great stay!

Our studio is close to many attractions that Santa Cruz has to offer. Not too far from the beach, fabulous restaurants and State parks with an abundance of hiking, running and mountain bike trails. Space has a private entrance, separate from the rest of the home. Perfect for a little getaway, or business travel. Although we prefer 2 guests we can accommodate a third for an additional $15.00/night. We require a 2-night minimum stay.
This cozy unit has a couch, ottoman, flat screen TV, high top pub table with two chairs and a full bathroom. There is a small kitchen area, including a refrigerator, microwave, Keurig coffee machine. We also provide drinking water, coffee/creamer, snacks and light breakfast options. While you're not out and about enjoying our beautiful surroundings, we have WiFi and premium Direct TV with many movie and music channels to choose from. There is a queen-size bed, with an incredibly comfortable feather top, and extra pillows & blankets if needed. We understand that not all like or can enjoy a soft bed (while others love it), so we are more than happy to remove the feather-topper if one does prefer a more firm bed to sleep on. We also provide towels, washcloths, the essentials (shampoo, conditioner, body wash, toilet paper and paper towels). A hair dryer, and iron/ironing board are included as well.
  • Thank you Shelly and Dave for being great hosts. We had such a great time staying there. It was such a cozy little nook. Very clean and great for a little weekend getaway. Thank you!!

    Suzanne2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • A very pleasant place to stay for one or two people, if you don't need a full kitchen. The studio was perfectly clean, very comfortable, and nicely decorated. It's attached to the main house, which includes another AirBnb unit, but the studio has its own entrance so it feels private. It also has its own place to park, so finding a parking spot wasn't an issue. Shelly, who manages the property, is very responsive. I called her about a small problem, and it was fixed right away. If you're planning to arrive at night, I'd recommend looking up the address on a map beforehand so you know where it is. I didn't bother, figuring I'd just rely on my GPS, and I got fairly lost. Once you get off the freeway, the roads are dark, and the house number on this property isn't well lighted. Other than that, highly recommended.

  • Had a great stay! Very relaxing space and attentive hosts. The gas stove comes in handy if the power is out.

    Shiloh2019-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • This was our first air bnb experience and staying at Allie’s cottage was amazing! It was cute and the right size for our busy vacation. The bed was incredibly comfortable, the water was always hot for showers and the California breeze cooled the house down perfectly. This made our first trip to California amazing and so much better than if we stayed in a hotel. Allie left us notes and kept us informed via text about the power outage and conserving water, which didn’t even faze us since we were exploring the coastline every single day. The cottage is private, clean, super cute and a great price. Next time we come to California and are in the same area we are definitely booking Allie again!

    Rachel2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • Allie’s place is awesome!! Such a cute house and the location is beautiful. Very comfortable bed and I would definitely stay again!

  • What a gem! Short drive to shopping north and south, Capitola and Santa Cruz five miles away, and 30 min to Monterey area. The cottage is so cute, and even though it's really close to the hosts house, it's very private. Windows face hills and there's a great little outdoor seating area in the back. Their cat, Simba, is very friendly and is quite the character! Highly recommend!

  • Is very nice private room , Situated on the beach front building. I enjoyed looking at ocean and hearing it . It was so relaxing and spiritual experience for me to stay in the room by itself too! . I miss my walks by the ocean .... Close to trader joe and whole food in Capitola and all the fun places for sightseeing. I go back again to connect with earth elements! The host is very positive and a nice lady.

  • Dorothea was a great host and very communicative and gracious through our stay. Given the ongoing health crisis she went out of her way to clean the room which was very appreciated. The room was clean and had immediate beach access which was amazing.

  • Imagine watching the sunset over the waves, right outside your bedroom windows. Imagine waking up and walking miles of a big, open, sandy beach while the sun twinkles on the surf. Well, you'd be here. And Dotty's charming room adds to the whole experience PLUS she is a kind and wonderful hostess who made sure I was comfortable in every way.

    Carina2020-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • This stay was the best ever! Dorothea responded quickly to all my messages no matter how much i kept bugging her! She was kind enough to leave cupcakes for my girlfriend since this was a surprise bday trip. We even got to meet her when she brought things for s’mores for us! The room was amazing and literally open your door and the beach is there. Beach was super clean and basically private, our whole stay we saw maybe 6 others on the beach. Will definitely be staying again in the next few months!

  • Great place to relax and enjoy the Area. We stayed during the virus scare and the outside community was shut down but we didn’t mind. Full stocked kitchen, BBQ on the deck works great. The bottom story is the perfect place to relax and read. Very comfortable, clean and has a good feel. I save this one and return for sure.

    John2020-03-22T00:00:00Z
  • The views on all three floors are absolutely breathtaking! The pictures don't do it justice. The stretch of beach is massive in both directions and although the town home complex is large with several units it was very quiet and peaceful during our entire stay. We are a family of 5 that includes teenagers and it was nice to have room to spread out on multiple floors with two showers/bathrooms. Being on a private drive was reassuring for safety and security. Great location for easy day trips to Santa Cruz, the 17-mile drive/Pebble Beach, Monterey and Carmel by the Sea.

  • I'm so glad I came across Rochelle's place for our Valentine's day weekend getaway. The place is exactly as described in the photos, but much better in person. The location is great with unobstructed views of the ocean and the beach at your backyard. Our group really appreciated Rochelle's artwork and the overall calm and quietness of the neighborhood. I would definitely stay again. Thanks again Rochelle and Mark!

    Amy2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Rochelle's "Seaclusion" is a treasure. The view is priceless! Rochelle's beautiful metal art pieces add a wonderful ambiance to the property. It was spotless clean and there was quick response to any questions we had. We ended up eating all of our meals there because it was such a beautiful, peaceful environment. We also loved that it was such a quiet beach area. We drove over to Capitola and it was so crowded, we were happy to return to our little La Selva oasis. It was a special treat when our neighbors provided a full fireworks display on the beach in front of us! Thank you, Rochelle, for sharing your beach home with us. We hated to leave but will be back!

    Diane2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Great place for what we were looking for, right on the beach. A little snafu with the property not being cleaned prior to our arrival but the property manager and The owner were very quick to rectify the situation. Mistakes happen, and the true test of a great host is how they respond to issues and get them corrected. Mark was very apologetic and followed through and kept in contact with me personally until everything was squared away. Also threw in a credit for a nice dinner for our family...what a nice gesture. Thanks Mark and Rochelle!

  • If you are looking for a perfect place to stay for a quick getaway for the weekend, this is THE PLACE! Natalie, Kirt and Kenzie's cottage is simply spectacular. We came as a weekend celebration for my best friend and we had the best time. From the attention to detail to the thoughtful treats they gave us...it was simply perfect. The space is pristine. All the essentials (and more) are there. The cottage is in a private quiet area, with easy access. And the biggest hidden Gem is their daughter's Yoga class in the greenhouse! If you are staying on a Sunday, Kenzie's 10am class is a MUST. I'm already planning on coming again with my family (it perfectly fits 4). Thank you again for the warm hospitality.

Panoramic ocean views, walk to downtown Capitola, or New Brighton State Beach. Close to shopping, entertainment, transit, and freeways.
Well appointed two bedroom condo end unit on top floor of three story building. One assigned carport parking space, guest parking available on site and plenty of street parking, Elevator, pool, sauna, laundry, guest room available to rent from HOA for guests. Walk to shopping, dining, grocery. Close to area attractions and colleges
New Brighton State Beach is an easy walk from the condo, you can walk the beach to historic cement ship. Downtown Capitola is less than a mile walk with great restaurants; Sotola and Shadow Brook are two of our favorites. Mr. Toot's coffee is the original coffee house of Capitola. You can grab a nice breakfast at the Avenue Cafe or Gayle's Bakery.
  • The unit is super nice and confortable, very close to capitola Wharf and Main streets. I was working at UCSC during my stay and capitola is just between 15-30 minutes drive to university and Santa Cruz. You can also take the metro bus, it takes around an hour. Stephanie left us instructions and recomendations and she is always available to answer questions. The beds are very confortable, and the kitchen very well equiped. The unit is very close (5 min walk) to New Brightons state park and beach. 100% recommended!!

Great amenities, wonderful owners, nice clean place~~ Good job 👏🏻 we loved our stay~~and would love to come back!

  • I spent the month of March in this beautiful property. The view is unbeatable and the short walk along the deserted tracks into Capitola Village was so scenic and saved trying to find parking. It was also an easy walk right across the street down to New Brighton State Beach, which is beautiful. It was a wonderful month.

There is an abundance of birds who vocalize throughout the day, beginning early morning, and nighttime brings owls.
  • Wonderful and hospitable couple. Beautiful property.

  • I went up to get away for a couple nights and really wish I'd had time to stay longer. Let me start with the ONLY downside - your space as a guest is separated from the rest of the house by only a short hallway, and sound travels very well through the house. If you want absolute isolation, you won't have it. Now all the GREAT stuff - amazing amenities. A kitchen with coffee, washer/dryer, games, even some picnic dishes in case you bring leftovers back to your room. Microwave and fridge - BIG pluses for me because I have a strict diet and have to take my own food everywhere. The bathroom was very clean and well stocked. The bedroom was big, clean, has a couch and a desk, and all kinds of lighting options. Bed is a bit soft, so watch out if you have back problems. But lots of pillows to prop yourself however you like. Rob and Kathy are extremely friendly and accommodating. I'm a bit of a hermit and usually like total isolation and not having to meet people, but they were super kind and at no point did I feel intruded upon. Now, the best part - the HORSES. I chose this place specifically to get to hang with some horses on my time off. Kathy introduced my partner and I to Holiday, Jewel, and Ace, and I wish I could've spent more time getting to know them. Holiday was very unaffected by my presence and just let me pet him forever. Jewel was not into being bothered while eating, but she's a smaller horse with a very soft coat, and still quite sweet. Ace was off by himself, but he's a gorgeous animal to look at. I loved the property, I loved the area, obviously loved the horses, and I even liked the humans (which is saying something for me!)

    Dani2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Rob & Kathy's place is the perfect location if you're interested in checking out the beautiful state beaches in the area and UCSC. My daughter and I loved waking up and just taking in the beautiful view before we embarked on our day-long escapades.

    Vanessa2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay and getting to meet Kathy and Rob. We had a lovely cup of coffee with them in the morning and enjoyed getting to know them. We hope to be back some day.

    Ulla2019-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • the place is a great getaway for a couple wanting to spend time away from city :)

    Naveen2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • Rob was out of town during our stay, so this review is mostly about our stay with Kathy hosting us. Kathy was a wonderful host! She's very knowledgeable about the area, and we got some good tips on fun things to do during our stay. All the little touches both in the room and the kitchen space really made our stay more enjoyable. The place was really accommodating, as when we wanted to stay in and wind down at the end of the night, we were able to use the kitchen to make our own cocktails. She was also very responsive and accommodating, which is a huge plus. Kathy and Rob, it felt, literally thought of everything that a guest would want to have a really cozy stay. I would highly recommend this Airbnb. Thanks so much for hosting us, Kathy!!!

  • If you ever get a chance to stay at this place jump on it. It is Nestle back into the hills off of 300 foot driveway. The pictures shown are for real. It's a very nice place, very quiet and the room is huge. Take a look at the pics, that is what you are getting.

30 day minimum. The small room is perfect for a single person who does not need a lot of space. It can accommodate a couple as well, but it is very small. The site says "real bed" but don't be confused: all the beds in the house and cottage are futons, The small room has private access to a shared bath (so it's a private bath if there are no cottage guests) with its own door to the bathroom which means it is right next to the bathroom. Our cats and dogs are not allowed in the small room.
This is a Craftsman style country home on a sunny 1/2 acre just South of Santa Cruz. Ten min from beaches and excellent restaurants. With large decks, and patios, it is designed for indoor outdoor living. We are 60 min South from Silicon Valley, 90 min South of San Francisco and 40 min North of Monterey Bay Aquarium. Take day trips to Big Sur. or explore the local Redwoods. Or grab a bike and tour the local wineries and apple orchards on country roads just minutes from the house. Santa Cruz has a vibrant music and dance scene, a Boardwalk as well as sailing, surfing and kayaking. Access to a car and transportation from the airport is open for discussion... Bedroom and guest cottage are perfect for a couple. We can also accommodate a larger group -- up to three couples. Kids and pets welcome -- no indoor smoking please. Optional Amenity (Inquire Ahead) Wood-Heated Hot Tub: May be available depending on drought and other restrictions.
The property is near the top of a low ridge nestled in a country neighborhood At night you'll here coyotes and owls and also bats and a whole assortment of night critters. Because of the dry summer conditions as well as our resident bats, there are no mosquitos. We are close to excellent mountain biking trails and there's lovely road biking through orchards and local farms.
  • Christine's home is beautiful and peaceful! We had a lovely time sipping coffee on the porch that overlooks Christine's meticulously tended Mediterranean gardens. Highly recommend the breakfast burrito place (we had chorizo with guac) just around the corner!

  • I had the pleasure of staying here on a work trip. Sadly, most of my time was spent at the home working online. Fortunately, the atmosphere made it easier to do just that. It’s peaceful and quaint, giving an at home feeling! Christine’s home is very clean and charming. She is a very good host.

    Karina2018-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • My stay with Christine was very pleasant. The house is very nice and the room cozy. Christine is an uncomplicated, friendly hostess. The animals are very nice. Perfect for 2-4 days, many excursion possibilities nearby!

  • Christine’s place was accurate to the pictures and descriptions, and she was excellent with speedy communication and instruction! We never met in person, but still felt like I was greeted by her. The space was small, but as expected and plenty enough for myself, my girlfriend, and our corgi. Location was secluded but still very close to Santa Cruz and Monterey/Carmel. It was a great stay!

    Nathan2018-05-29T00:00:00Z
  • Christine’s place was charming, peaceful, and quiet! I thoroughly enjoyed the time I spent at the house. It’s also centrally located to many destinations like Monterey, Santa Cruz, Carmel, and the redwoods. I would definitely come back next time I’m in the central coast!! :)

    Krystal2018-05-21T00:00:00Z
  • Christine's place is very interesting and exactly we had hoped for -- a rustic, comfortable and enjoyable experience. We loved her pets, garden, all the architectural details, and activities that go on in the house. Great hikes, beaches, and restaurants are very accessible. Christine is also very friendly and helpful. We love this place so much!

  • Sally's place was a comfortable spacious apartment. Off street parking in a carport was a real plus. Quiet neighborhood, some light traffic noise since place is next to a neighborhood street. A convenient location for visiting area. A 10 minute great exercise walk to a beautiful beach- walk down the road, cross the street and follow a pleasant short path through trees under an old train trestle and down a steep set of stairs to a beach which extends for a few miles. Would stay there there again.

Sunny, airy, private and pet-friendly La Selva Beach in-law studio about a mile from the sand.
Private, pet friendly 350sf studio with bathroom and a small food prep area about a mile from Manresa State Beach. A redwood tree shades the adjacent enclosed, private garden patio where you and your family can lounge or BBQ. The living area includes a queen bed under a skylight, dining table with seating for 4, and a comfortable chair with a reading lamp. Free Wifi. A 43-in 4k UHD TV with DirectTV, HBO, Showtime, Netflix and 300+ channels is provided. An elevated queen sized airbed (electric powered) is available in the closet for third or fourth guests. The small food prep area is well equipped with sink, microwave, small refrigerator, coffee making equipment and sufficient tools, dinnerware and cutlery to prepare and serve simple meals. There is a small charcoal BBQ grill on the patio (BYO charcoal). The updated bathroom has a toilet, sink, shower and window. From the studio you’ll have direct access to the shared laundry area in the garage with a full sized washer and dryer. The studio shares two walls with our family home. Please see the floor plan in the photo section for a visual layout plan. The studio comes equipped with two folding beach chairs, 2 beach towels and a small ice chest in case you want to head down to the beach or out for a picnic. Owing to our proximity to the ocean, temperatures in La Selva Beach are temperate and range from a low of 49 to a high of 74 degrees. There is a heater in the studio along with extra blankets and comforters. On the extremely rare occasions where temperatures rise above 74 degrees we provide a fan for the studio. Parking is in the driveway or on our quiet residential street. LGBTQ friendly :)
La Selva and Manresa beaches are less than a mile from the studio. They are known to be sparsely populated (wonderful for contemplative sunset walks) with wide sandy beaches, big waves and strong rip currents. They are great places for roasting marshmallows over a beach bonfire, long walks, surfing, boogie boarding, skim boarding, surf-fishing, dolphin watching, etc. Otherwise, our village is a sleepy, family-oriented beach neighborhood. We appreciate guests who will respect that atmosphere. New Brighton, Seacliff, Palm and Sunset State Beaches are all within a 10 minute (or less) drive as is The Forest of Nicene Marks State Park. The Seascape Golf Club (public, 18 holes) is a 5 minute drive from the apartment and Seascape Resort is nearby -- a great site for weddings and corporate events. This is an amazing area with a lot to do and see! Points of interest include: To the north: Santa Cruz is the site of the SC Beach Boardwalk for rides, amusements, concerts, and people watching. It fronts a long sandy beach with lifeguards and an active beach volleyball scene in the summer. Also in Santa Cruz you’ll find the world famous Steamer Lane and Cowell’s surf breaks, the Cabrillo Festival of Contemporary Music, the Santa Cruz Shakespeare Festival, the Santa Cruz Wharf and UC Santa Cruz -- a world class university with its own beautiful hiking and bike trails. Capitola and the famous Pleasure Point surf breaks are just to the north of La Selva Beach. Nearby Nicene Marks and Wilder Ranch are excellent for hiking and mountain biking and are minutes away. Ano Nuevo State Park with its winter migration of giant Elephant Seals is just 45 minutes away and Henry Cowell Redwoods, Butano and Big Basin State Parks all can be reached in under an hour. To the east: Wine Tasting! Award winning Santa Cruz vineyards are within minutes of the apartment! The apartment is a good base for wine tasting expeditions in the Santa Cruz Mountain and Monterey (Carmel Valley, Salinas) AVAs with the closest winery (Alfaro Vineyards) just 6 miles away. We can provide you with a list of local favorites for wine tasting. To the south: Elkhorn Slough for kayaking, birdwatching. Moss Landing has a world class antiques fair in June, is home to the Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute (MBARI) and Moss Landing Marine Laboratories, offers excellent whale watching boat tours and, of course, Phil’s Fish House restaurant. In addition to the aquarium, Monterey is home to Cannery Row, Fisherman’s Wharf, Dali Museum, Dennis the Menace Park, Defense Language Institute, Panetta Institute, Laguna Seca Raceway, Asilomar, Monarch Butterfly Sanctuary among other attractions. It is the site of the Monterey Jazz Festival, the Monterey International Pop Festival, the Monterey International Blues Festival, the California Roots Music and Arts Festival and the Pacific Grove Feast of the Lanterns. Carmel is 35 miles away for shopping, fine and casual dining, art galleries, quaint architecture, the Carmel Bach Festival, the outdoor Forest Theater, the Concours D’Elegance, the AT&T Pro-Am Golf Tournament, the Annual Carmel Arts Festival, and a long, gleaming, white sandy beach. Carmel is the gateway to the 17 Mile Drive through Pebble Beach, and to Carmel Valley resorts and wine tasting, Point Lobos State Reserve and the Big Sur coast. Distances: −Seascape Beach Resort is 2 miles (5 minutes) −Cabrillo College is 6 miles (8 minutes) −Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk is 13 miles (20 minutes) −University of California Santa Cruz (UCSC) is 14 miles (about 20 minutes) −Moss Landing/Elkhorn Slough is 14 miles (17 minutes) −Monterey Bay Research Institute is 14 miles (17 minutes) −Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park is 15miles (20 minutes) −California State University Monterey Bay is 25 miles (25 minutes) −Naval Post Graduate School is 30 miles (30 minutes) −Middlebury Institute of International Studies is 31 miles (35 minutes) −Monterey/Monterey Bay Aquarium is 32 miles (35 minutes) −Defense Language Institute is 32 miles (35 minutes) −Ano Nuevo State Park is 33 miles (45 minutes) −Big Basin Redwoods State Park is 34 miles (50 minutes) −Carmel about 35 miles (30 minutes). −Point Lobos State Reserve is 37 miles (40 minutes) −San Jose (easily commutable) at 40 miles (45 min). −Butano State Park is 41 miles (50 minutes) −Oakland about 80 miles (1.5 hours) −San Francisco about 85 miles (1.5 hours)
  • This place was absolutely perfect! The kitchenette was the size that I expected it to be but it worked perfectly. I was able to make breakfast for myself and two other people. The half and half was so nice to have and the coffee maker made me happy in the morning. Also there is a skylight in the main room that is very refreshing to have. It was the perfect amount of natural light!

  • I enjoyed my stay here very much! It had everything we needed and was very private. Our hosts left such a good guide for local things to do and things to eat. We followed some of their recommendations for meals and activities and had so much fun.

    Charlotte2020-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • The apartment is beautiful! The kitchen had a wonderful array of pots and pans (we were able to make chicken piccata for dinner), a really nice outdoor table for enjoying a cup of coffee in the morning, and was close to La Selva beach, to Santa Cruz, and a short drive from Monterey. Couldn't have asked for a better weekend stay!

    Hanne2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Charming studio. It had everything we needed for our family of 4 to stay comfortably. We appreciated the beach supplies & parking pass and enjoyed the hot beverage station. Thank you, Jane, and Family for hosting us.

  • Jane's home is absolutely wonderful. The kitchen is equipped with everything you can think of.; I had no problem cooking! The air mattress is very easy to inflate, and very comfortable. Jane was very responsive, helpful, and overall a fantastic host. I can't recommend this place enough!

    Joanna2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • We were very comfortable at Jane’s. While attached to the main house, our spot was very private & quiet. Great for getting cozy & binge watching a new show! The location was far enough from things to not be too touristy, yet close enough to get a bite and see the coast.

  • This is a delightful studio with plenty of privacy. It was wonderful to wake up to the morning light with the skylight above the bed— a great touch when you don’t have windows. I particularly loved the wide array of magazines in the bathroom! Sparkling clean and efficient use of space. A five minute drive to the beach each day was magical.

  • This is an amazing place, we were able to "land" after vacating our home---down the street for nearly 20 years!

  • Clean, great bed and very well situated.

  • Mike was great! Super responsive and thoughtful. We were attending a friend’s birthday at Sea Scape and wanted to find a more affordable option to sleep over night that was close to the resort. Mike’s place worked out great, it was very clean and just a short 10 minute walk to the beach. The room is quite private and has its own entrance which is nice. We experienced a PG&E power outage because of heavy winds, but Mike told us ahead of time and even set us up with a handy LED light for when the power went out. Luckily in the morning even though the power was still out the shower still worked and had hot water. We would highly recommend this place to anyone that needs a rooms to sleep in the area and planned to spend most of their day out and about.

  • This was my first Airbnb stay. I didn't know what to expect. This happened to be the week PGE cut the power. Mike was great. He kept me in the loop and the power came on when I got there. He even bought dinner for me! I felt very comfortable in his home. Great comfortable bed!

  • We booked Julia's place instead of staying at a hotel during a work event. Best decision ever! The house is fantastic. Tons of room, a bathroom for each of us, and the perfect distance from the beach. We will absolutely be staying here again.

    Sarita2020-03-20T00:00:00Z
  • Julia’s place is so incredibly beautiful. We had a wonderful time cooking, kicking back, and enjoying the space. The garden is beautiful and although it was raining most of the time we were there, the hot tub and outdoor furniture were a great touch.

  • The photos don’t do this place justice!!! We were very comfortable (seven adults and three infants) and had plenty of space. You can watch the sunset over the water from the balcony too! Everything was updated, spotless, and perfect. We’ll definitely be staying here again!

    Nicole2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • This place is even better than the pictures. Gorgeous house, completely updated! New floors, fixtures, lighting, fireplace, huge TV with Netflix, giant couch for everyone, amazing kitchen, hot tub, everything! Great access/location, too! You can see the ocean from the balconies. Had a gals retreat with 6 of us and it was just the PERFECT coastal getaway!

    Rachel2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • Julia’s place was even better than we expected. Her home was immaculate and very welcoming. We loved cooking in the gourmet kitchen, the beds were very comfortable and shared areas very spacious. The outdoor space was an extra bonus with great views, huge deck, fire pit, BBQ, hot tub, large grassy area, etc. This is a perfect place to spend time with family and friends yet near enough to the local attractions for those who wish to explore. Julia, thank you!

Their place is beautiful and its in a great, quiet location. If you are looking to relax in the most beautiful part of the country, you will not find a better place to set off from.

  • Had one of the most incredible nights here. We had dinner a short drive away in Santa Cruz where they had live music and ended the night in the hot tub under the stars. It was magical. The next morning we did a short hike up the preserve to see a breathtaking view of the bay. We wished we stayed there longer. Maureen and her husband were lovely hosts. Their house was so adorable and interesting, I had never been in a house like it.

    Debbie2019-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • Our room and large bath in this gorgeous home was comfortable and well-equipped with snacks, coffee and amenities. It was also beautifully decorated for Xmas, an added bonus. Maureen and Clark went out of their way with their graciousness and hospitality and also gave us the privacy we needed. We loved the hot tub under the stars and walked on the nature preserve right behind and above the house. The house was also perfectly located for visiting our family near Corralitos and for trips to Santa Cruz, Monterey and a walk along the beach at Rio Del Mar. We felt as if we made new friends. Thank you for sharing your lovely home with us.

  • Amazing, unique spot that’s close to the beach.

    Mario2020-03-31T00:00:00Z
  • Stayed here with my wife and daughter for a weekend to get away from the Bay. This place is spectacular! It has a quirky Bedrock look/feel from the outside, complemented by beautiful gardens and a very private space with various nooks with chairs for relaxing or socializing. The inside is very simple though high-design. The feel is Scandinavian hygge meets Santorini. All appliances are very high-end (Wolf range, Bertazzoni micro/oven), huge soaking tub and great shower, awesome fireplace with Pendleton blankets for spending time relaxing by the fire. The bed was incredibly comfortable, though no shades on the windows so be prepared to rise with the sun. We have an 18-month-old, so that’s our grind anyway and didn’t mind at all. Private beach access was perfect. Beach is not busy and is dog-friendly. We walked for a long time on the beach. Tons of shells and tons of surfers. Finally, just a note on the temperature. Yes, the place can get cold if you leave the heat off overnight or for any prolonged period. I don’t think that makes it different from any house with stone walls/floors. The property host was kind enough to have the heat going before we arrived, and the temperature was perfect the whole time. There is a space heater in the bedroom and the fireplace downstairs which gets quite hot, so I wouldn’t let those comments deter you. Couldn’t recommend more highly!

  • Gorgeous space! This is house is incredible. The curves, the architecture. So fascinating to look at. I loved the out-coves and periscope-like views. The bathroom with the huge tub, was well used. So relaxing to soak and stare out at the beautiful gardens. The beach is just a short walk away. I couldn't get enough of this place. One of the most romantic weekends of our lives.

There are pictures of the toilet tank sink in our listing photos and we recommend that you check them out if you have never seen one before! PLEASE NOTE: The bed is a Full-sized vintage iron bed with iron headboard and footboard. This is noted on the original listing page. Full size mattresses are approximately 52 x 74 inches so it can accommodate guests a little over 6 feet tall. Taller guests should consider this when booking! PLEASE ALSO NOTE! • Maria and Geoff's casita is in a convenient and very quiet location. The kitchen is very well equipped and there is plenty of privacy and space from the main house. Maria and Geoff are great hosts and they've really tried to think of everything to make your stay comfortable.

  • A very nice place to stay. Highly recommend.

  • Maria's place was a dreamy place to stay for a short trip to Santa Cruz! Thank you!

  • The studio/cottage is very sweet and had everything we needed. We especially appreciated being able to prepare meals there.

    Ellen2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Maria was incredibly responsive. For example, I texted her at midnight the day before our stay asking if we could change our check-in time. She responded immediately and was very accommodating. We loved meeting the hens she lived with, they are very sweet and beautiful. The casita is a guesthouse in the back yard, which is basically a one room studio, but everything is very well organized and it feels like plenty of space. We had a wonderful time and would return if we came back to Santa Cruz.

    Andrew2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • This little casita is a jewel. The space is small but perfect for one person. I stayed a week this time for a solo writing retreat and the privacy and quiet were just what I needed to work. I love the old Wedgewood stove and could cook all of my meals with food I brought myself. That plus the discount for the week’s booking made it possible to give myself the gift of solitude, with the ocean nearby for evening walks at the end of the working day. Many thanks to Maria and Geoff for keeping this tiny space in good working order, clean and bright!

    Cari2020-01-31T00:00:00Z
  • The guest house was very cozy and comfortable. Easy access to lots of fun Santa Cruz attractions and Maria is very welcoming!

Covid-19 UPDATE: So what are we doing to help mitigate the risks of COVID-19? For starters our professional cleaners know what they’re doing and pay attention to the important details of human cross-contamination. They pay close attention to all touch points in the yurt (door knobs, cabinet pulls, faucets, remote controls etc) disinfecting them as their last step in the cleaning procedure. Additionally, we’re providing the same disinfecting supplies for guests, so they can have that extra security to spray down anything they want. As an extra safety precaution, we are spacing each booking by 2 days to allow for deep cleaning. With this extra time that folks have with their families, it’s a great opportunity to take some time in nature, but not without properly mitigating risk first. We’re in constant communication with our guests to make sure they are comfortable and have everything they need during these tense times. We are not charging any cancellation fees, and being as flexible as possible since we know everyone is doing their best. Our property is over 1 acre with 2 homes on the upper half and a recently built private yurt with bathhouse on the lower half. The property has irrigated vegetable beds, flower beds and fruit trees. We water our plants with 100% reclaimed rain water. The 24' Pacific Yurt is privately nestled in the Redwoods with 8 windows that leaves you feeling like you’re outside. The Yurt has electricity, a gas heating stove that is easy to operate with a remote control, wifi, a large dining room table with 4 wooden chairs, a comfortable queen size bed, a small kitchenette with granite countertop, and a small living room with a rocking chair and couch. It has lots of natural sunlight, varying types of indoor plants, brand new hard wood floors, and beautiful french doors. The Yurt is powered by renewable energy source, an array of solar panels. The kitchen has a refrigerator, 2 burner electric stove, toaster, electric kettle, french press, plates and bowls, silverware, cutting knives, cutting board, pots and pans. We prohibit guests from bringing and cooking meat on our property as we are all vegan and prefer a harmonious environment. Thank you! **Please stop in town for groceries before arriving. The nearest grocery store is 25-30 minutes away. The closest towns are Morgan Hill, Gilroy and Watsonville.** The bathhouse is clean and eco friendly. Enjoy a hot shower underneath the redwood canopy while comfortably standing on a bed of river rocks. The eco-bathroom has a toilet and a sink with hot and cold water. Organic shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, towels and linens are included. Enjoy a 1 minute walk down to the yurt from the dedicated parking spot inside our private gate. My lovely in-laws also live on the property. One of us will be here to welcome guests and show them down to the Yurt. Thank you!
Remote and rural mountaintop setting. Wild turkeys, deer, and peacocks often roam free along Summit Rd. Nearest town 25-30 minutes away. • There is so much to love about this yurt. Blown away by the peafowl, nature, and hospitality. We laughed so hard when we were woken up at 5:30am in the morning with chanting/singing from the monks at the monastery next door - how can you be upset about something so magical? :) It's a really lovely place. Thank you Mary + James.

    Laura2020-04-28T00:00:00Z
  • This was the first time my boyfriend or I have ever stayed in a yurt and we totally loved it! This yurt has such nice decoration and the location is super private. We especially loved the sounds of the frogs and peacocks and the misty fog.

    Laili2020-04-17T00:00:00Z
  • Omg! This is one of the best Airbnb places that I ever stayed. Ok so I’ll start from the beginning, the road to get there is a bit curvy but not to bad just make sure to drive with day light because I can see it that it might get a bit hard to find during the night. When we got to the yurt the first thing I thought was woooow what a beautiful and peaceful place! The bathroom and shower are outside. The yurt has a very relaxing ambience to it. It has everything you need to cook however maybe is best to stick to some simple recipes. They have a French press coffee maker, a toaster and plenty of complementary teas to drink, my favorite was the vanilla one they had! We stayed there for 4 days, when you are inside the yurt you feel like you are outside because it’s multiple windows, one morning when we woke up we saw a deer walking just outside the yurt it was a beautiful way to start our day, also there is multiple birds around, peacocks, owls and we even saw a few eagles flying around. There is a Buddhist temple very close by and it was amazing to hear the sound of the bells of temple and the singing of the monks in the horizon. My days when by like this.. wake up prepare a cup of hot coffee and a piece of toast and sit by the fireplace, after do yoga for 1 hour and then I would take a nice hot shower outside so rounded by redwoods it was soooo nice... and then off to start making dinner and drink some wine. Mary & James were great hosts even though we did not saw each other I could tell they are great people, they were so fast communicating with me and they even let me borrow a good sized pan to make pasta! :) I can’t wait to be able to go back and just disconnect for a few days it brings you back to what is really important, love and family <3 Thank you so much! Katherine

  • This place was in a beautiful location and made you feel like you were camping, but with more beauty and amenities. Our stay was very relaxing and recentering thanks to this beautiful yurt. The hosts were extremely hospitable, and we hope to come back soon!

    Linzy2020-04-03T00:00:00Z
  • This is a cozy hideout deep in the forest. B/c it's a yurt, you get to feel intimate with all the nature around you. There is a busy family of Acorn Woodpeckers in the redwood trees just outside that are a joy to listen to; many different aviary species are also around, and several hooting owls. I appreciated the sound of the frogs in the night. The yurt is a nice place for rest, mediation and yoga (mainly what I did). It's next to a monastery too, which adds to the peaceful ambiance. I'd certainly come back.

    Michael2020-03-29T00:00:00Z
  • so magical really beautoful in all ways. hope to be back soon xo

    Payden2020-03-26T00:00:00Z
  • The Yurt is all that we hoped for and more. It's a beautifully, secluded place and extremely relaxing. My wife and I haven't had a chance to to sit by a fire, read, and play a few games in years. This was the perfect place to do that. James was there to great us and walked us down to the Yurt. Super friendly guy and their property is awesome. The gas stove keeps the Yurt warm at night and the little touches make the stay. We took time to head down to the Cafe (set up reservations beforehand) and sat out on the deck overlooking the Monterey Bay. The directions were easy and it's not too far from the Bay Area. Would definitely recommend staying there.

    Ryan2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • James and Mary's yurt was a peaceful and healing get-away, nestled not far from our home in the Bay Area. Upon arrival, they greeted us warmly and walked us down to the Yurt. We enjoyed the relaxing and calming essence of the property and are really looking forward to returning soon! Thanks James and Mary!!

Shelter-in-Place in our serene paradise for the current COVID-19 pandemic. Message us to find out what extra precautions we are taking to comply with current CDC guidelines. Om Oasis is a beautiful and lush retreat center on several acres of a remote and peaceful mountain top property. The Om Oasis Retreat hosts guests who wish to connect with the beauty of nature. We are 10 minutes up the mountain and partially off-grid with limited cell reception but great WiFi connection.
This brand new tree house accommodates 4 guests and is placed among towering Redwoods. This clean and elegant space comes equipped with a full kitchen, modern and lux bathroom, a living room with a pull out couch revealing a full bed, and a comfortable king size bed located atop a loft adorned by an octagonal hand crafted cedar panel ceiling and skyview. For reference, this treehouse is 2 feet taller and larger in diameter than our cozier Cedar Treehouse, at 18' diameter and 18' in height, with a full size loft that is comfortable to completely stand up and walk around in. . . PLEASE note: This treehouse is located up a trail and then down a zig-zag wood chipped path and is not suitable for those with limited mobility or wheeled luggage.
Our property is on the border of Nisene Marks state park. We are on a ridge top with excellent views of the sunset, moon, and stars. We're also ten minutes from the town of Aptos where you'll find coffee shops, restaurants, grocery/convenience stores, and boutiques. The entrance to Nisene Marks State park, Sea Cliff state beach and Rio Del Mar beach are approximately 15 minutes away.
  • We were lucky to find a place to help us decompress and isolate in peace here. They provided everything we needed, responded to our questions quickly, and we felt so welcome. That bed was like sleeping on a cloud. Because it's up in the mountains a bit you can hear all sorts of animals day and night which might be a problem if you're a light sleeper, but we were so relaxed we slept just fine. The property is also a lot larger than we expected so be prepared to walk up and down hill (although it's not strenuous at all). If you're going to use the spa or pool don't forget to bring an extra pair of slippers or flip flops like we did. We look forward to going back sometimes and would absolutely recommend this space to anyone looking to enjoy the forest in solitude.

  • This was a great retreat! The resort has everything you could ask for, I just wish there were even more walking paths

    Michel2020-05-03T00:00:00Z
  • The treehouse was amazing. It felt like you are at home! They have a stove with an oven, and a full size fridge. The beds were both just as comfy as mine at home, and the bedding & towels freshly washed....you could smell the detergent/fabric softener on them :) the pool and hot tub were clean. Their entire property was beautiful and a site to see! Looking to book again soon and definitely enjoy the property and nature, and even stay away from the beaches! Lol.

  • Mother nature at its finest. It was so fun to climb up the stairs to get to the bed. The bed is o-m-g, so comfortable that I had a hard time getting up. The atmosphere and nature vibes made me feel so relaxed during my stay. Away from digital world - Emeberlie’s tree house is definitely a hidden gem. You can book a private massage, sauna, jacuzzi, yoga classes, etc here. There is a open pool + jacuzzi area as well and a mini hiking trail. I spent some time at the balcony just soaking up the sun. Sometimes you just need to get away from home and find sanity in places like this tree house. Thank you for being such a great tour guide and host Emberlie :-)

Stunning Centrally located in the Redwoods, 5 min drive to Ocean, walk to Niceen Marks State park, or to Downtown Aptos and jog to the ocean. This apartment set for 3 adults-1 Queen bed and 1 full pull out sofa bed. Private entrance, Kitchen, and bath. Many windows revealing tree tops giving it a treehouse feel. The hot tub is an experience with the vast forest views. this apartment is located on the bottom floor of the main house. Private kitchen includes oven, fridge, microwave, and toaster
This Serene apartment is loaded with all the comforts of home, with the added luxury of a peaceful outdoor shower and hot tub where an outstanding canopy of trees nestle you in beauty. The space is high in the trees where owls and a multitude of birds call home. It feels like a far removed sanctuary. However, it is just minutes to the hustle and bounty that Aptos and Santa Cruz has to offer. (literally walk to wine tasting and a wonderful variety of restaurants) Deer visit the property throughout the day. It does require a degree of athleticism to enjoy this apartment as it is up 3 flights of concrete stairs
Niceen Marks State Park is walking distance. Yet minutes from the Ocean.
  • Place was very clean and nice. The host also was very quick to respond to any questions

    Mikel2020-04-30T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful place to stay that feels like home. The tall redwood trees, birds singing, and hot tub will delight your senses. The apartment was very clean and stylish.

  • Tawnya’s apartment is sparking clean, cozy, and in a fantastic location. Very close to a little downtown with killer restaurants and great hiking. Hottub was perfect for fabulous night under the stars. So relaxing !

  • Aptos is one of my favorite zen destinations to spend time with my family and take a break from the craziness that is life. The Stairway to Tree Heaven was THE perfect location, vibe and energy. The local tips, small touches, books, beds, spa, location, EVERYTHING was perfect. Small and cozy sanctuary- absolute home away from home. Tawyna gave us the inside tip on a locals trailhead that took us to breathtaking views of the ocean and also led us to Nisene Marks state park. I escape to Aptos as often as my busy schedule allows- this will forever be my go-to. HIGHLY recommended for someone who wants a little sanctuary.

Charming studio with a queen memory foam bed. Has a bathroom and shower. Microwave, mini fridge and coffee maker included in space. Lots of privacy in this stand alone converted shed. Private walkway to entrance, separate from the main house. Walking distance to New Brighton Beach and a quick drive or bike ride to Capitola Village.

  • Small but clean space. Perfect for a quick weekend trip.

    Marissa2020-03-17T00:00:00Z
  • Extremely cozy and comfy. Minutes away from downtown Capitola and easy access to SR 1. Looking forward to our next stay!

    Kristin2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • Everything was very clean and orderly. The privacy of the small house was very nice. Great location not far from downtown Capitola. I look forward to staying here again.

  • Great location, very clean! Awesome stay

    Janae2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • It is a great location and a few min away from the beach. Sage and his family was very sweet and felt us very welcomed. We enjoyed staying in their cute cottage.

    Zeynep2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • Everything was as expected with the cottage. As others have noted, it was chilly but the space heaters worked perfectly. This is within striking distance of everything in Santa Cruz and was easy to go back and forth. Would recommend this Airbnb and will look to stay again if visiting in the future.

Practice social distancing with a Sauna and soaking tub. Get away from the Chaos. Beautiful, private, relaxing, quiet cabin nestled in the Redwoods. With a large wrap around deck, outdoor bar, tree swing, rock climbing tree, outdoor tub, sauna, and hiking trails to the creek, anyone will feel recharged after a couple night stay. Guest will have full access to our off grid cozy cabin, with chopped wood to start a fire, full kitchen, internet, a claw foot tub with a modern Boho-chic feel.
This cabin is located on 12 acres of pristine Redwood forest, surrounding my hawks, owls and rich ecosystems.
There are a few property mates living on property. They are private and you can not see or hear them from the cabin. The closest neighbors is a few acres away and asks that people drive very slow past her house because of dogs and dust.
  • Tania’s Airbnb is absolutely stunning and the photos in NO way give it justice. Came up for our anniversary and Tania had chilled champagne and champagne flutes chilled waiting for us and the fire hot and ready (we checked in after 5). We were so in love with her charming and ridiculously relaxing cabin so much we asked to extend another night which Tania had reserved for personal use and without hesitation allowed (so sweet!). We will ABSOLUTELY be back to visit again, our visit ended in a proposal so sparrow has touched our hearts deeper than we could have ever imagined. Thank you so much Tania!!!!

  • Easily one of my favorite Airbnbs I’ve stayed in. Going to make plans to come back to this place specifically in the coming weeks. Super quiet, peaceful, love the private trails, sauna, kitchen, bed. Really loved it. Great hosts as well.

    Gideon2020-04-12T00:00:00Z
  • Place is great, we would like to come there again.

    Olga2020-04-09T00:00:00Z
  • If you're looking for a private, off the grid, comfy, woodsy get away this place is great! We were lucky enough to spend two weeks here and felt completely at home. The outdoor tub and the trail that leads down to the creek were two of our favorite aspects! Although this cabin is off grid, we were working from home here and had no issues using the satellite internet. Tania and Taylor were very helpful, responsive, and accommodating to our needs. We hope to return in the future for another lovely stay!

    Daniel2020-03-29T00:00:00Z
  • Space is incredible and as advertised. Tania and her family are great people and highly communicative and accommodating if needed, but yet we otherwise had complete privacy if we didn’t need them.

    Erik2020-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • The space is amazing! Very private with lots of areas to explore and enjoy nature!

    Kenya2020-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • Gorgeous landscape, and comfortable cabin interior make for an easy stay. Power outage as advertised can last anywhere from a few minutes to over night, and low profile cars may have trouble navigating the road.

    Shane2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Great relaxing location, quiet and lots of space. Lovely fireplace and comfortable furniture. Bring extra flashlights, power doesn’t kick in until later in the morning. Tech detox retreat!
