“Trapholt is a museum for modern art and design and GREAT for families with kids. Admission is free for children and young people under 18. You are welcome to bring your own food and enjoy it in the beautiful sculpture park. Trapholt presents a steady succession of exhibitions on art, design and crafts and also boasts its own collections, including a large collection of Danish furniture design. Trapholt is the place to go for creative family fun. The guides are always happy to hand out sheets with exciting assignments, art activities and scavenger hunts. They arrange special quizzes, tasks and games for all our major special exhibitions, ensuring that art and design comes alive for the children, sparking their imaginations. All of these quizzes and treasure hunts are, of course, entirely free. YOUR EXHIBITION: create your very own exhibition... - Go explore the museum and find pieces that have special meaning to you. - It’s done digitally – you get a round token to take with you around the exhibition. - Pick the works you want to include in your exhibition. - Your exhibition will then be displayed on a big screen – and you can have it posted to the social media of your choice. ½–1 hour. Great fun for ages 5 and up – including the grown-ups! ART HUNT Go explore the exhibitions in fun, creative ways with our art-themed scavenger hunt. You will receive a box with various tasks and assignments that will challenge to you respond to the art and exhibits in imaginative, playful ways. approximately ½ hour. Great fun for ages 5 to 99! ANIMAL HUNT Bringing toddlers to the museum? Then go look for animal tracks! Your scavenger hunt will take place in YOUR exhibition, and you will be looking for works with animals in them. approximately 15 minutes. Great fun for ages 2 to 5. OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES Trapholt is set within an impressive park with beautiful views of Kolding Fjord. Here, children – and their grown-ups – can blow off a little steam and enjoy nature. They also invite you to explore the impressive sculptures placed all around the museum. Ask the guides for a ‘sculpture hunt’ sheet and see who can find the Mouth of the World, the White Rabbit and the Diamond Runner. If you want to bring your own food and beverages, you can enjoy them at the tables and benches provided. You can also borrow a lawn game (‘Kubb’, AKA ‘Kongespil’) from the café.”

Castle
“Jylland's last royal castle. For kids: If you would like to be king or queen for a day, then visit the dressing workshop where you can try one of the many beautiful Renaissance suits, here is something for girls and boys. There are fine costumes to dress up in, a dungeon with a ghost story and a task for the clever detective. Koldinghus is much more than a museum. See the remains of the ruin that tells of the disaster fire in 1808 or experience the story very closely when there are living tales in the castles' rooms and see modern design when the design school exhibits their graduation projects. Throughout its more than 700 years of existence, Koldinghus Castle has played a significant role in Denmark’s history as a border guard and as one of the royal family’s favourite castles. It was the first to be used exclusively as a royal residence. King Christian III died here on new year’s day in 1559. King Christian IV spend a significant part of his childhood and youth here. The Castle lost its importance as more and more of the duties of the Royal family moved to the capital. King Frederik IV was the last king to live in the castle, but it was only temporary, while the plague was raging in Copenhagen.”

Park
“in Kolding is one of the city's green oases - here is plenty of space to enjoy nature for both children and adults. The little ones are especially fond of the garden’s animal pens with goats, ponies, chickens and other animals. There are two playgrounds and a jungle path for you to explore. Bring your picnic basket or visit the café. Discover a world of plants and explore the unique collection of flowers, trees, plants and herbs arranged by their country of origin. You can also go playing at the green area or the playground.”

Park
“The Legeparken for children - in Kolding. In the Legeparken you can climb, ride a mooncar, enjoy your packed lunch and much, much more! Legeparken is a paradise for all playful children and guarantees unceasing entertainment for many hours. This place is almost inexhaustible of exciting activities on the ground, on the water and in the air, which will challenge you and at the same time bring a huge smile to your face. On the ground, you can drive on the racetrack with one of the moon cars, and if you are sharp, you can become the best and fastest driver on the field. However, remember that this is only possible with one condition: You need to follow the traffic rules. So pay attention to the traffic lights and crosswalks during the race. If you are looking for a more relaxing activity, you can also play minigolf with your friends. But be prepared, since it is a real challenge to go through the entire course successfully. Stop by the more traditional playground as well, where you can build a castle in the sandbox, try the climbing racks and hop on one of the colorful springers. If you would like to conquer the water, take a boat trip or test your power with one of the pedal boats on the lake, the blue heart of the park. There is an island in the middle of the lake with a high tower, which you can only reach by crossing the water. Be one of the few and bravest, who dares to set foot on this island. Those experiences that lift you high up in the air will definitely increase your adrenaline level as well. The swings and slides are not your typical kinds in Legeparken; that is for sure. Here, you can swing all the way up to the sky and slide down from high, so steeply that your belly will do a somersault. As the perfect ending of an adventurous day in the park, ask one of the employees to turn on the grill, so you and your parents can prepare the food that you brought from home. And what could be better than a tasty picnic in nature? Well, maybe a delicious ice cream from the kiosk after your belly is almost full and your body is tired after a full day of active playing. If the things mentioned above did not convince you to visit Legeparken, we have one last surprise for you: The park is open all year long and you can enjoy all the activities and facilities completely free of charge. The only thing you need to do is just to get out there!”
