Located just around the corner from The Grand Canyon Loop Walk and Walls Cave, Bower Cottage is a delightful spot for two.
Quiet and on the edge of town, this property with it’s main house and two private accommodations, is an acre and a quarter and was originally farmland and the produce store for Blackheath.
Away from the hustle and bustle, but only five minutes to town, it's a place to help you rest, explore and reconnect.

The space
Bower Cottage is one bedroom (with queen bed), is warm and well insulated and kept beautifully cosy with a slow combustion style, gas log fire.

Self contained, and styled with original artworks, there’s a small kitchen to prepare meals with a two burner stove top, convection / microwave oven, bar fridge and toaster, rice cooker etc.
We stock pantry items so that you don’t have to… Olive oil, vinegar, soy sauce, salt and pepper grinders, coffee, black, green and a selection of herbal teas and hot chocolate for those colder days.

We also amply supply you with your first breakfast: a freshly baked loaf of bread (delivered hot and fresh on arrival), eggs, granola, fruit, butter, milk and conserves.

Relax in the deep, double spa after a day exploring The Blue Mountains or walking The magnificent Grand Canyon Track. The queen bed boasts beautiful quality linen and there’s a sunny deck with Weber BBQ so you can cook outside and enjoy a morning cuppa or an afternoon drink.

In summer the temperatures in Blackheath are cooler than Sydney as we are one thousand metres higher. The cottage is shaded to the west with a large hundred year old pine, planted in the days it was the produce store and there’s air conditioning to keep you cool.

Relax in the double spa with the knowledge that all water on the property is treated by an Envirocycle system and is reused to water the gardens which means we use only non toxic cleaning products. We are also proud to be powered from the energy of the sun with our 5kw grid connected solar system. There is a spacious iron bark deck, digital television, DVD, selection of dvd's, CD player and Ipod dock, scrabble board and cards.

Let me know your time of arrival and we’ll bake you a loaf of bread and have the cottage warmed. It’s quiet and peaceful, a great place to reconnect or relax after a day of sight seeing or a long hike.

Where you’ll be

Blackheath, New South Wales, Australia

We are three kms from Blackheath township. It's a town with lots of character and a village feel. There are great cafes, excellent restaurants, nice galleries, a glass blowers studio, an antiques emporium to browse. Lots of artists live here. It's also a famous rock climbing destination. Centennial Glen is where you can start but there are many climbs around the district. There's a lovely swimming pool in a beautiful park nearby with free BBQs when it's hot and a golf course just 250 metres away. It's only ten minutes drive (or a short train or bus ride) to the more touristy Katoomba with it's larger supermarkets, interesting Cultural Centre and Art Gallery. The Scenic Railway and Three Sisters are here. In the other direction the Jenolan Caves are one hour drive. Mt Vic Flicks is a short drive away. It is open Thursday-Sunday. It is an old fashioned cinema and a locals favourite. Sit back with a cup of tea in a real cup and a choc top and watch films from all over the world.

I own and operate a small accommodation business in the Blue Mountains. I have travelled extensively and have hosted guests (both paying and non-paying) from all over the world. I have lived in Blackheath for twenty years now and have an excellent knowledge of all things Blue Mountains. Walking in the bush, the arts and growing food and cooking are my passions. I support KIVA, UNHCR, Getup and Blackheath Area Neighbourhood Centre.
