The best summary I can write is to say, read my reviews!
Welcome to my home!
I have a three bedroom house which is in a quiet street, superbly located, in particular for Belconnen. It is two minutes walk to a direct bus route to Civic (via Belconnen), making it very convenient for either area.
It is also two minutes walk from a park where some Kangaroos come down each evening to feed, so you can take an evening walk and maybe see them!
My house is solar passive so cool in summer and warm in winter, with instantaneous gas hot water - perfect for enjoying a luxurious candle-lit soak in the deep deep bath, or enjoying the various settings of the multifunction shower.
The backyard is enormous and includes a lovely shaded and paved pergola area for relaxing and enjoying a glass of wine after a long day of exploring Canberra.
Canberra has an incredibly large amount to offer visitors, far more than most people realise. I know a lot of the secret gems of the city which I am happy to share with you, and I usually know the most interesting gigs and exhibitions to visit.
I am musically inclined myself so if you have an instrument, feel free to pull it out, maybe we can play together! I also speak some French, and would be happy to practice with any French speaking guests.
My house is not a perfectly pristine palace (I own far too many books and have far too many hobbies for that), but it is a happy home where guests can relax and feel like they belong.
The space you can call your own is a comfortable room with a double bed and a large built in wardrobe. The mattress is new for the very best night's sleep, and you can choose between an ergonomic or normal pillow.
There is also a small desk if you need a bit of a work/study space, and high speed wifi. While I don't own a TV, I have a good collection of DVDs that guests are welcome to watch on their own computer, and books in a number of languages.
As well as the kitchen/dining/living room area, I have a sort of library/music room where you can curl up with a book if you like, and of course there is the bbq area outside too! Often I have a mattress out on the back lawn under the shade of a tree, perfect for a bit of an afternoon siesta.
You are welcome to use the kitchen to prepare meals, and depending on the season, I am happy to share some of my home grown organic veggies with you. My three chooks (Emelda Marcos, Tweedledee and Tweedledum) produce the most delicious eggs around, and you will have the opportunity to meet them if you like - Emelda is very tame and will let you feed her and pet her.
I recently renovated the kitchen, which now boasts two ovens, a microwave, dishwasher and a 5 plate induction stove where you can truly cook up a storm!
If you don't feel like cooking, one of Canberra's most highly lauded Thai restaurants is within walking distance, as are two pizza places (one of them a gourmet pizza shop), a classic takeaway and a Chinese restaurant.
I guess am a pretty friendly host, and it seems that more often than not I end up feeding my guests - I just can't help myself!
I would describe myself as pretty sociable, but if my guests don't feel like chatting, I certainly won't be upset or offended, and will happily leave you in peace.
My home is in a quite special spot. It is tucked away in a small suburb with only a few streets on it, so is very peaceful and safe. There is a creek and park only metres away, kangaroos that feed in the park across the way, and Ginninderra lake with barbecues and other amenities within walking distance.
There is a bus stop 2 minutes walk away, with buses that go into Belconnen and then on to Civic, so public transport is a breeze.
There is plenty of space to park your car.
To keep costs down I don't include breakfast. However, as some guests would rather not bring their own:
For $3 per person I will provide you with cereals, milk and juice to make your own continental breakfast.
For $5 per person you will get the above breakfast option plus a loaf of bread timed to be ready to take hot out of the breadmaker at the time of your choosing, with a range of home made jams and other spreads.
Robyn is a lovely, heart opened an friendly host. We were a little bit in trouble in catching the right bus, so Robyn picked us up. We were really happy about it!
We enjoyed our stay and the delicious tomatobread.
It was a pleasure to stay at her house and we loved to feed her three chicken in the backyard.
Thank you Robyn :)
Robyn and her partner were excellent hosts and made us feel welcome from when we first stepped through the door. The room was small but comfy and the open kitchen facilities and giant bath tub were both big pluses.
I arranged for two of my friends to stay with Robyn when we were in Canberra for a conference at the AIS. The location is perfect, 20 seconds from Ginninderra Drive and ~20 minutes to the city.
Robyn was really trustworthy, friendly and warm. Her garden looks great and her chooks were pretty cute. I would return myself one day!
Robyn and her partner live a short drive (20min.) out of Canberra and have a lot of space with a big garden and their own chickens. Robyn was very helpful during our stay, she gave us a lot of good information and tips of what to do in the city and which places are interesting to see apart from the common tourist spots. The room was clean and we also got some cake in the morning which was great!
Robyn was a great host!!!! Walked up her path to an operatic performance and then cooked an amazing meal on our first night. I felt at home right away. The room had everything we needed and the bathroom was great. The house is under renovation so didn't quite match the pictures, this didn't ruin our stay though.
Thanks for having us Robyn
Robyn was an awesome host, friendly and caring. Even fed us cake I'm the morning!
Robyn was a very nice, friendly and funny host. She was very helpful and showed us a lot of nice places in Canberra. We have to say thank you for the fun time and this wonderful evening. We highly recommend and hope to see her again.
Our stay there exceeded all expectations. Robyn was extremely helpful, funny and smart (she does translations, sews medieval clothing and costumes, make crafts and play instruments). She took us for a walk.. showed us the city.. we cooked together.. we met her parents...
The room was very nice and was recently painted. The whole house was very clean and well organized, also there is a great backyard. She has chickens (we could feed them). Plus, there are kangaroos very close to the residence (2 minutes walking). At night you can watch the stars in the sky. I definitely recommend it, no matter the distance from the city "center" (about 30 minutes by bus) because it is worth and is excellent. Unique and exciting experience. Amazing. Thanks
Robyn was a great host and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay with her. We immediately felt at home with the laidback environment and friendly atmosphere. Robyn is great company, she is always crafting, baking and pottering away, which was always great fun. She is an amazing cook and we enjoyed many meals with her. Robyn was extremely helpful and went out of her way to help us settle into Canberra, and provide us with useful information. We did not have a car when we stayed with Robyn, however the bus stop is just a few minutes walk away. The beautiful Lake Ginninderra is not far from the house and is great to walk, cycle or jog around which we did many evenings.
I had a good stay at Robyn's place. The room is clean, comfortable and cozy. It was rather cold for me. However, Robyn is very sensitive to the needs of her guests. She arranged for a portable heater for me and that was indeed a pleasure. As a host, she is bubbly and cheerful all the time. She entertains her guest well and her friendly nature makes it comfortable for anyone to interact with the host. I enjoyed my stay there and I am ever thankful for her driving me to K Mart to do some last minute shopping. I would recommend Robyn's place.
