Birdwatchers'Paradise. Up to 150 species are drawn by our gardens and flowers. Tranquil setting with large pool and lovely views of Lake Chapala and the mountains..

The space
You will immediately feel at home in this charming multi-level cottage which features its own private patio, balcony and herb garden.
Sweeping views of the countryside, mountains and lake, from your second floor bedroom and balcony will make you feel king and queen of all you survey. This bungalow features two single beds which can be adjusted to king size if you prefer.

Situated on a hillside, overlooking Lake Chapala, and just a few minutes from Jocotepec, an authentic Mexican village, we offer visitors a tranquil garden acre with wonderful views of the mountains and lake.

Later in the day, after exploring our village, shopping, checking out the local real estate market, or visiting other nearby towns, it's nice to come back home, stroll through Phyllis' garden, watch the sunset with a margarita, or count the stars from your balcony.

During your stay, you will waken to birds singing, donkeys braying, rockets celebrating a fiesta or saint's day, or perhaps the distinctive zeta gaaaaas of the truck selling bottled gas. Linger over a generous breakfast on the veranda with your host, Phyllis. She loves to share her and Georg's stories about 30 years of living in and loving Mexico. She'll also be happy to make suggestions for your Mexican holiday or permanent transplantation to Mexico!

Relax by the Pool:
Lounge by the pool with a good book (many available onsite), hike the mountain (a bird watcher's delight), explore the village on foot, or venture out to the surrounding countryside by car. Some of our guests enjoy hoofing it the 15 minutes into the town of Jocotepec, while others catch an occasional ride with Phyllis.

Transportation Options:
Taxis are available at the village square, and a small shuttle bus stops at the foot of the hill. Buses to other lakeside villages pass by on the highway every half hour. Some guests arrive with their own cars, or auto rentals can be arranged at the airport upon or prior to arrival.

Born in NE Ohio, I always yearned for distant places, exotic people and experiences. Little did I know as a youngster that I would live in an international Quaker coop at the Univ. of Michigan, later spend 18 months working at libraries in Germany and traveling all of Europe, I met and married a wonderful Austrian artist and the year after we married we moved to Mexico for the first time. Lilving in the then, much smaller of Guadalajara, I became an aide de camp for the Cultural Events of the Olympic Games of 1968, thanks to my fluency in English, Spanish and German. After 3 years in Mexico Georg and I moved to Laguna Beach California, where I worked in libraries and he continued to paint and exhibit his work in the famous Pageant of the Masters Festival. But our hearts were always turned south and in 1976 we moved to our own home overlooking Lake Chapala. It has been and continues to be a wonderful place to live. There is an amazing number of activities, theatre, concerts, sports, folk art. But many who come to stay at Los Dos appreciate the many speciies of birds on the large property, the gardens, the solalr heated pool, walking at the village boardwald, sitting at the cafe, or just kicking back with a good book. I look forward to welcoming you to my home. My hobbies are gardening, reading, films, good t imes with friends. I dream of traveling my self to Newfoundland, Cuba and other yet unknown destinations. My life motto is Gracias a la Vida (as sung so beautifullly by Mercedes Sosa. "Thanks to Life!"
