The space
A unique island paradise on the Hawkesbury River near Brooklyn to the north of Sydney, Dangar Island is surrounded by sparkling water and views in all directions. With no private cars to disturb the 'sounds of silence', Dangar Island is a haven of peace and tranquillity and an ideal place for a holiday. While just a short drive or train trip from Sydney, once you are here you'll have a feeling of being a million miles away from the bustling city life.
The property is located in the the best position of the island, placed right on the edge of the south beach. If you are going to stay on the island, this is the best location, with the prime swimming spot right at your front door.
(During colder months the house has heating in every room including bathrooms and sitting around the outdoor fire right on the water is blissful)
Deerubbin Boat House, a beautiful relic from the 1900s, which has gracefully evolved with time, boasting additions that seamlessly blend the old with the new. Kayaks, lifejackets, a paddle board, beach towels and fishing rods are all provided with the property. If you are wanting to go fishing let us know and we'll stock the freezer with bait.
There is also a local cafe on the island as well as bowling club, open Thursdays and weekends.
Deerubbin Boat House is unique to the island in that we go the extra mile for our guests. As the property is on an island we ensure the house is stocked with everything you may need (free of charge) including all pantry necessities including breakfast cereals, milk, herbs and spices, oil, sauces, pasta, bacon and eggs, wine, cheese and crackers, chocolate and whiskey. Coffee beans for the wonderful coffee machine. There is a soda stream for drinks and a huge selection of kitchen utensils. Sunscreen, aloe vera gel, shampoo and conditioner, first aid kits and back up phone chargers, spare batteries. Chopped firewood and fire starters are also supplied for use during appropriate seasons. At Deerubbin our objective is to ensure you are equipped to relax the minute you set foot on the property. A lot of guests tell us the property is more equipped than their own home.
Our wonderful housekeeper Mary lives on the island, she can assist you with any requests pre arrival or during your stay. We can also organise to have the property stocked with extra groceries and supplies at your request (please allow 5 days notice prior to your stay). We can help arranging activities for you in the local area including Jet Ski tours, Bush walking (the Patonga to Pearl beach walk is amazing), Beach picnics, private boat hire, and water taxi trips to cafes and pubs along the Hawkesbury river. Mid stay house keeping can also be arranged. The property is perfect for just relaxing, swimming and kayaking, however if you wish to explore the area or organise any other activities in the region, just let us know and we will assist you in planning the perfect holiday.

Access to the island is via Water taxi or Ferry. We will contact you in advance to assist with travel arrangements and transport to the island.
If you are arriving via train you elite at Hawkesbury River Station. The train trip is one hour from Central Station.
