Extra spacious

Guests love this home’s spaciousness for a comfortable stay.
Our repurposed Redhen railcar sits amidst the vines with elevated views over Blewitt Springs; a beautiful corner of the McLaren Vale wine region. Each space (driver's cabin & three-five-four) offers well appointed kitchens, queen beds, spectacular views from your own deck or choose to stay cozy inside. Close to numerous cellar doors, breweries and restaurants. A stunning space to relax and enjoy the incredible view after a days winetasting or adventures on the stunning Fleurieu Peninsula.

The space
Our first Redhen railcar is atop a hill, nestled within our vineyard in Blewitt Springs. It is divided into two, self contained accommodation spaces. Three-five-four offers a tiny home feel, with a luxurious queen ensemble bed with fresh linen and all-seasons doona. With windows on both sides the space can be a warm, sunny and light retreat, or draw the blockout blinds to complete a nighttime coziness.

The living space contains a coffee table large enough for a platter or a board game, while you relax on the comfortable couch with throw rugs. There is a wall mounted Smart TV to enable guests to access their own streaming services.

The kitchen will greet you with welcome snacks and a complimentary bottle of local wine. Ample breakfast provisions (vegetarian & vegan options available upon request) are left in your kitchen including fresh eggs from our own chooks, local bacon, bread, spreads and tea/coffee/juice. The kitchen is appointed with a kettle and coffee pod machine for a fresh hot cup. An inside eatery bar allows you to enjoy your meals while taking in the spectacular view of the vineyard and rolling hills of Blewitt Springs and beyond.

The ensuite bathroom contains a spacious shower with large shower head, toilet, hair dryer and fresh towels. Shampoo, conditioner, body wash and hand soap is provided.

Your own deck provides the perfect place to sit and soak up the view, fresh air and sights of the local wildlife including cockatoos, kookaburras and kangaroos. Relax with a glass of wine and a fancy cheese you may have just picked up from the local markets and wineries. A shared outdoor firepit is provided in the cooler months and when fire season allows. A shared patio area with BBQ is available for guests to use at their leisure and enjoy a picnic under the wattle tree.

Guest access
In addition to your deck and carriage accommodation, guests can access the large lawn area, shared patio and BBQ space and shared fire pit.

Other things to note
This property is a working vineyard. Please be aware that you may occasionally share the space with tractors, pruners and pickers. This work will have little to no impact on your stay at redhens.

My work: Mum/teacher/bnb host
I'm Carly, a mum & teacher and my husband is Andrew, a paramedic. Together we have spent the best part of 7 years repurposing a salvaged Redhen train carriage, in amongst raising 2 children, owning a vineyard and working hard. We love where we live and are excited to be able to share it with our guests. We are passionate residents of the Fleurieu Peninsula and look forward to helping our guests discover the beauty of this South Australian gem.
