The nook in the garden is ideal for a pre-dinner wine, an outdoor lunch or a place to read.

Interaction with guests

We have lived in the village since 1998 and live separately on site. We have provided a compendium of information and tourist brochures and, if there is anything not included, we are available to advise as required.
If you are from overseas or interstate, or thinking about moving here, and would like to learn more about regional Victoria, we would be happy to introduce you to some locals over coffee or a drink.

The neighbourhood

Hepburn Springs village is home to historic buildings going back to the gold rush days of the 1850s, dozens of mineral springs, day spas, a variety of restaurants, wine bars and cafes, a village pub and a General Store, galleries, well marked bush walking trails and the famous Hepburn Bathhouse. There is even Friday night entertainment at the Cabaret at The Grande and weekend music at other venues.
Just 3kms up the road is trendy Daylesford with the iconic Lake House, a variety of galleries, a small cinema, two scenic lakes, the Botanic Gardens, restaurants, cafes and wine bars. Shoppers will love the fascinating collection of boutiques, bookshops, homewares, antiques and Op shops.

Getting around

It is best to have a car if you are visiting Spa Country but there are taxis and some venues have courtesy buses for evening dining.
There are also tour operators who have winery tours or ones that include Daylesford and out of town attractions.
During the week there is a Vline/bus connection to and from Southern Cross Station and Hepburn Springs.
There is also a local bus between Daylesford and Hepburn Springs on week days that has four return services.

Other things to note

YOU CAN BOOK ONE NIGHT ON WEEKENDS EXCEPT LONG WEEKENDS, EASTER AND MELBOURNE CUP WEEKEND WHEN IT IS A TWO NIGHT MINIMUM.
A selection of Breakfast/brunch provisions are provided for the first day and there are added surprises for those staying three nights or longer.

My wife and I stayed at Hepburn Hideaway to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Keira was an amazing host and even included a bottle of bubbly in the fridge for us for the special occasion. The accommodation is homely and clean with everything you need. Couldn't fault anything at all. It is a really comfortable place to stay. And Graham's homemade bread and cookies were delicious! Fantastic hosts and we will definitely be back again.

I was happy with the accommodation. It was clean and had everything that you needed for a comfortable stay. Was lovely to have breakfast provided. The location was within walking distance to restaurants etc and Keira was very helpful with anything that you needed. I would say this accommodation is more suited to couples only. There is parking provided which is great but be careful if your car is low to the ground as the driveway may scrap the underneath of your car (this happened to me grrr). The street parking is good as it's in a nice quiet street. Overall this is a nice quiet place for a bit of quiet time.

Response from Keira:
Thanks for your feedback Renee ... really appreciated. We have updated our advice on parking for future guests. (You have an amazing car) We only promote our place for couples (or singles) as we only have the one Queen size bed but quite a few girlfriends and sisters have chosen to stay with us understanding the bed situation. Thanks too for the feedback on the restaurant. All feedback is helpful to hosts to advise future hosts. Thanks for leaving the place in great shape .... Regards Keira

Lovely weekend stay at the cosy and comfortable Hepburn Hideaway. Keira provided lots of great suggestions for places to eat nearby and clear communication before and during our stay. Location is good for exploring but enough nearby if you prefer to stay local. Would definitely recommend.

Absolutely faultless. Keira met us in person at the property, and took the time to explain everything. The place was absolutely spotless and equipped with absolutely everything one could want for a stay, including toiletries, books, games, not to mention generous breakfast supplies and a loaf of the most amazing freshly home-baked bread! The flat was deceptively spacious with a comfortable bed, great shower, cute verandah and little garden. Keira had kindly compiled all the information you could ever want on the area including menus for local restaurants too. We opted to eat in Reubens, a favourite with the locals, only 10m from the flat, and had one of the best meals we've had in Australia at a reasonable price. Our only regret was that we couldn't stay longer. Will definitely recommend and be back for future trips!

Retired and married to a Chef, I am a family historian and author who loves entertaining, dining out, travel, books, movies, live theatre and genealogy. Our children are all overseas, so we converted our house into two residences. When planning we thought of all the things we want when we travel and have included them in the retreat. We're here with advice if you want it and, If you have ever thought of living in this wonderful place, we would be happy to introduce you to like minded people, otherwise we will leave you on your own.
