On our chestnut farm, all the living space you need when staying in the beautiful, quaint Wandiligong Valley, just 8kms from Bright. This cosy 1 bedroom space has queen bed, breakfast nook, full size bathroom, is on off-grid power and a perfect nest for exploring the local environment and townships. From the house, stroll along the road for a lovely walk or bring a bike for an easy ride into town or surrounds. Within close range is the river, cafes, wineries, Mt Buffalo and Mt Hotham.

The space

Self contained 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom with shower & bath. Lounge area with TV, breakfast nook, gas heater and northern outlook to our chestnut orchard and Wandi valley. A verandah and small courtyard have seating for relaxing outdoors (near the occupants outdoor area). Bring your own breakfast supplies to prepare in the breakfast nook, which has: two burner gas cooktop, sink, small fridge, kettle, gas toaster, pot, fry pan, cutlery, sharp knives and cooking implements, basic crockery and washing up cloth, detergent, tea towel.

Being energy smart is a pre-requisite to staying here, please read the 'House manual' for full info.

We can supply 1/2 or 1 doz eggs from our pastured chooks, just ask.

Guest access

Parking is beside the house for BnB guests, so you will be parked right beside your accommodation. Come and go as you please with own sliding door entry and key. If any gates are closed please enter and close behind you. Bicycles can be left undercover on the front or back verandah.

Interaction with guests

We are around on the farm or in the adjoining house most of the time. If you need to ask something and nobody is around please message Megan. For guests booking over Mar and Apr please note, we harvest chestnuts daily, run a seasonal cafe in the farm shed and host Wwoofers (volunteer help exchange). So there is a fair bit of activity and early starts for us! We hope this will not disturb your relaxing.

Other things to note

Please be aware that efficient power usage is very important for continual supply of the house electricity, particularly in winter or with consistent overcast weather. More on this in 'House manual'.

If using the breakfast nook, please wash and tidy up after yourself and put away clean dishes before departure.

On occasion in summer and warmer weather we may have a bbq out the front, near the guests outdoor area.

On off-grid power - please switch off lights and any power usage that is not immediately required. No night lights to be left on, please bring a torch if heading out/returning after dark.

Appliances such as hair dryers, electric kettle and toasters cannot be used. If you bring an electric appliance, please check with us if it's ok to use first. Use of heavy-usage electrical appliances will quickly drain the battery bank causing total power shut down and irreparable damage!

Weather that is overcast, raining or during winter months generates very little solar power into the battery bank. This means that power saving measures, efficient use of electricity is even more important during this sort of weather/season.

Phone chargers can be used, as can laptops. Please note that we are on rainwater tanks not mains water. An electric pump operates water supply to the house, so please minimise use of water after 11pm to reduce electric pump noise for others.

You must also acknowledge
Potential for noise - In the mornings the geese are quite noisy for a few minutes when they are let out to roam at about 7.30am.
Pet(s) live on property - We have a Kelpie puppy, three geese and a flock of chickens. The geese can be vocal when they are let out at about 7.30am.
Some spaces are shared - The front verandah has the entry doors for both the main house and the BnB, so this front area is communal.

Megan's place is a lovely secluded space in the country. This is the perfect place to stay if you're laid back and likes nature and tranquility. We thought we wouldn't be warm enough as we stayed in the middle of winter, but we had some of our best sleeps here! The bed is so comfortable! The place is minimalist but has everything that you need. Megan is also a very lovely host. Definitely recommending this place!

We had a fantastic stay! The accommodation was a great little base to enjoy all we had planned in the Alpine region. Very clean, warm and cosy, with a nice big bed to collapse into at the end of the day. Megan was a great host, it was a pleasure dealing with her. We would definitely recommend this Airbnb, and hope to stay again!

A nice little base for two for a snow or cycling getaway. It's just up the road from the Wandi pub which was good for dinner and a drink. Make sure you try Megan's delicious eggs; they taste of cinnamon!

Megan & Geoff's place was wonderful to stay at, the peace and quiet and all within a short drive to Bright. I would highly recommend this place not only for the friendly owners, super cute pup, Dusty, but also because their property is comfortable and environmentally friendly.

Cosy place, comfy bed & a sweet lil kitchen nook. Had a lovely time at Megan's. It is nice to wake up to see chickens, geese & cheeky Dusty puppy and chestnut garden in the morning to relax and enjoy a cup of tea. A very clean place with fresh linen and easy access to Bright and Mt Buffalo. Lucky enough to get fresh chesnuts from Megan, crispy apples & top of the range olive oil from Wandi!!! Thank you for having us Geoff and Megan.

Wonderful retreat in Wandiligong, away from the crowds in Bright and yet near enough for us to explore Bright. The place is cosy for two pax. Fun tip: ask Geoff for a quick lesson in chestnut picking!
