Interaction with guests
We are around on the farm or in the adjoining house most of the time. If you need to ask something and nobody is around please message Megan. For guests booking over Mar and Apr please note, we harvest chestnuts daily, run a seasonal cafe in the farm shed and host Wwoofers (volunteer help exchange). So there is a fair bit of activity and early starts for us! We hope this will not disturb your relaxing.
Other things to note
Please be aware that efficient power usage is very important for continual supply of the house electricity, particularly in winter or with consistent overcast weather. More on this in 'House manual'.
If using the breakfast nook, please wash and tidy up after yourself and put away clean dishes before departure.
On occasion in summer and warmer weather we may have a bbq out the front, near the guests outdoor area.
On off-grid power - please switch off lights and any power usage that is not immediately required. No night lights to be left on, please bring a torch if heading out/returning after dark.
Appliances such as hair dryers, electric kettle and toasters cannot be used. If you bring an electric appliance, please check with us if it's ok to use first. Use of heavy-usage electrical appliances will quickly drain the battery bank causing total power shut down and irreparable damage!
Weather that is overcast, raining or during winter months generates very little solar power into the battery bank. This means that power saving measures, efficient use of electricity is even more important during this sort of weather/season.
Phone chargers can be used, as can laptops. Please note that we are on rainwater tanks not mains water. An electric pump operates water supply to the house, so please minimise use of water after 11pm to reduce electric pump noise for others.
