Canggu is a trendy up and coming area which houses locals, expats, worldwide travellers who have chosen to settle in for a while, digital nomads and families. Described as the Bondi of Bali by the Sydney Morning Herald Escape Travel magazine.
The vibe here is more low key with many visitors staying for extended periods of time.
The range and quality of food continues to grow and you can eat all manner of types of food although Indonesian is the cheapest.
The area has some of the best wholefood, vegetarian and vegan restaurants you will find in Bali.
Echo Beach is the closest beach and is a quiet place where no one will hassle you.. Families usually all visit in mornings and evenings.
Batu Bolong is a popular beach for long boarders and for learning to surf. Old Mans is s local bar/ restaurant where families are welcome and kids can run free.
I also love the Samadi yoga centre which is a five minute walk .. It also has an organic farmers market every Sunday which is like a local hub as well as a vegetarian cafe.
If you are not comfortable to hire a scooter, bicycle or car then Villa Nanas may not be for you.
We can include a car and driver for an additional cost so please ask.
Walking is possible but only at the cooler times of day , its 15-20 min walk to Echo Beach.
Our driver Nengah is part of the Canggu transport and can be easily organised for any trips as he lives in our gang/laneway.
Local transport has their own set of fees which we have available here. Taxis pick ups are not allowed in Canggu but you can catch them back here from other areas. Its part of a local drive to protect local jobs from Uber and the likes.
Cool bars, restaurants and the beaches are only a three minute bike ride away.
We can arrange a scooter (approx 6000 a day) or bicycle( approx 2500 a day) to be here for you or once you arrive. Transport is essential so you get the full local feeling and don't feel isolated at all.
Other things to note
Be prepared for the sounds of the countryside.. Dogs barking, pigs feeding, cows , temple prayers. It is set back in a hidden location in the field which means its super quiet at night but all guests will need to hire scooters or car. If this is your first time to Bali we don't think this will be right for you.
We can not be held liable for injury, death, or in case of theft, loss or damage to personal property during the stay in the villa or while participating in all sports and tourist activities.
The state of the villa matches the descriptions available at the time of booking. These descriptions will be updated regularly. If you want more details, feel free to ask us before you leave, we will gladly help you.
We can not be responsible for any unforeseen events or circumstances beyond our control: villa construction nearby, neighborhood noise, power outage or water in the area (this is part of Bali), coq singing or dogs barking, sounds and music of traditional religious ceremonies or other parts of Bali life. Mostly it is really peaceful especially at night.
The final reservation of the villa leads to the acceptance of these conditions.
As such we find it simple yet comfortable. We just ask that you treat it with the same respect as you would your own home.
We don't pretend to be five star.. We enjoy the simple life in among the local community and hope you do too.
Be aware that there are local dogs that bark ( good for security) and also farm animals nearby so there may be smells depending on the wind .. Just so you know.
No smoking.. You are welcome to smoke in the entry area or outside the garden.
Please do not bring locals other than the immediate families or people you don't really know into the villa for security reasons.
Water and electricity are more precious commodities and do we ask that you try to be sustainable in its use. For example please turn off air con when not in rooms etc. And please don't leave the pool filters running all day and night.
Power can get overloaded and blow..if this happens pls contact Komang.
In any emergency please contact komang.
Hi, I'm Nicole, a mother of 2, baby bedding designer and ex interior stylist. My husband Jeremy is an avid surfer and fisherman.
We have done a lot of travelling before our children cam along..since then we have mainly been spending winter in our little bali house.
Our style of travel is to visit places that are quite different to Australia and we like to wander the neighbourhoods, and meet locals and imagine what it's like to live there rather than just head to main tourist attractions.
My favourite travel destinations have been Morocco and France. I hope to visit India one day soon. Jez loves Morocco but loves New Zealand and anywher he can surf and fish.
We are planning a European trip in 2019 so will be open to house swaps for our Beach Apartment in Australia.
Feel free to email me any questions you might have.
