SUMMER
Summer on this coast is expansive and sun-filled, where long days dissolve into golden evenings and the rhythm of the ocean sets a slower pace. The beach is at its most generous, with soft sands built by gentle swells, inviting barefoot walks, ocean dips, and moments of stillness by the sea. Early mornings and twilight bring a softer light and a sense of quiet connection to place. Light clothing, kaftans, and sun protection, footwear for headlands, are essential for these warm, restorative days. SA can experience several heatwaves over summer.
AUTUMN
Autumn brings a gentle shift. Warm days linger beneath crisp blue skies, while the first seasonal fronts begin to move through, adding energy to the landscape. Sunrises and sunsets deepen in colour, and the coastline starts its quiet transformation - the sands shaped by summer gradually giving way to the power of the Southern Ocean. This is a season of balance and reflection. Pack layered clothing, a light jacket, footwear for headlands, and something warm for evenings as the desert air cools.
WINTER
Winter reveals the elemental spirit of this place. There is no land mass between Antarctica and Mount Camel Beach, so huge, powerful swells roll in from the Southern Ocean, reshaping the shoreline and drawing the sea closer to the dunes. The air is divinely crisp, the skies expansive and dramatic, and the landscape feels both raw and deeply grounding. It is a time for introspection, connection, and witnessing nature in its most untamed form. Warm layers, a windproof jacket, and sturdy footwear are essential for comfort and safety.
SPRING
Spring is a season of renewal and quiet abundance. Native coastal plants begin to flower, bringing subtle colour and life back to the dunes and scrub. The ocean softens, the days lengthen, and a gentle warmth returns to the air. Wildlife becomes more active, and the landscape feels reawakened after winter’s intensity. It’s an ideal time for slow exploration, mindful walks, and reconnecting with the rhythms of nature. Pack light layers to move comfortably between cool mornings and warming afternoons.
CONSERVATION
In 2000, the Gordon family acquired the 250-acre Mount Camel Beach heritage property and placed it under private conservation, committing the land to long-term ecological protection.
MCBC welcomes an incredibly gorgeous clientele of guests - who share a respect for land and ocean.
When beachcombing, if you feel inclined to collaborate in our plastics philanthropy project, please collect any small pieces of marine plastic you find and place them in the recycling jars in the top kitchen cupboard.
Each year the collected material is donated to students, artists, and designers working on projects connected to climate awareness, sustainability, and ocean conservation.
MCBC has been connected with global marine plastics initiatives including #ITSNOTOK by world surfing champion Kelly Slater’s OUTERKNOWN and Cyrill Gutsch’s PARLEY FOR THE OCEANS, helping raise awareness of marine plastic pollution.

CAMEL BEACH CONSERVATION
Envisioned as a place to recharge and embrace the outdoors, Camel Beach was purchased in 2000 with impact conservation in mind. Situated on the Eyre Peninsula this private 250 acre coastal conservation estate is famous for its pristine wilderness of coastal cliffs, rocky shores, sandy beaches, dunes and native scrub. It is home to a number of threatened species including; the Australian Sea Lion, White-Bellied Sea Eagle, Osprey, Hooded Plover, and temporary home to masses of migratory seabirds.
The sanctuary is located at the southern end of a spectacular coastal area known as the Chain of Bays (Venus Bay to Streaky Bay) and through the private owner’s efforts for conservation status, it is now protected for future generations. In terms of the property structures, environmental design and low carbon infrastructure have created an eco-dwelling for guest stays that touch the earth lightly, through material choice, harvesting rainwater, solar panels, inhouse products and recycling.
We love your wanderlust, those who seek far-away places and ’the wild things.’ Adventuring to destinations that support conservation and national parks. Opening the property gate allows for visitors to create unique and impactful memories, with a nod of a greener future. A wild escape in a bespoke offgrid architectural nest, surrounded by the energy of panoramic ocean and desert, is pure body and mind goodness. Camel Beach is not only a conservation sanctuary, it’s a brand committed to nature, sustainability and wanderlust.
