We have 5 bedrooms all traditional Japanese style but different in size on the 2nd floor, can accommodate up to 16 people or more. All rooms have tatami-mats, shoji-paper screens. You will sleep on high quality Futon. On the 1st floor, 100% pure natural hot springs are flowing into 2 tubs 24 hours a day. A roomy private kitchen with things all you need for cooking - you can bring your own food. Two BBQ spaces with/without roof so that you can do even when it rains.

The space

Sawatari spa is off the beaten path, you can experience the real rural life in Japan. Nothing but beautiful nature and great hot springs! The house can fit up to 16 people. (The rate of the whole house is for 6 people but can accept up to 16 by paying additional charge, 5,400yen per perosn or 6,480yen on Sat and the day before holidays) During fall/winter season, you will enjoy the colored leaves and sunset from our house. You may want to have hotpots/sukiyaki in the room with fireplace when it's too cold outside.

Guest access

You can use the whole house freely. We have 5 rooms, 3 restrooms, a roomy kitchen with all things you need for cooking, 1 foot bath, 1 big room with fire place, two bathrooms filled with hot springs 24 hours a day, and 1 very comfortable electric massage chair! Our place is good for any kinds of gatherings. Please feel free to ask what more you can do at our place. We are ready to accommodate your requests. You can also use our tree house in the Japanese cedar forest just next to our parking lot. Fall foliage and sunset seen from there are very beautiful!

Interaction with guests

We have a car that can carry 4 to 5 people at once. We can take you to local supermarkets to buy food. (20 minutes from our place). Our town is surrounded by magnificent nature and dotted with onsens/hotsprings, rustic buildings and old farm houses. Our town is a host to an art festival (Nakanojo Biennale )which takes place once every two years. Please check Nakanojo Biennale 2017! We can help you enjoy the art festival as well.

Other things to note

Our place is really off the beaten path! Don't expect to have a supermarket or restaurant in walking distance, but we can take you to when you need in our car. It takes about 20 minutes by car to get the nearest supermarket from our place. People who love nature and hot springs will enjoy our place, NOT for those who love shopping around!!

We have a fire place but you can use it till 23:00, not use it all night. Because our house is wooden and we have to make sure the fire is put out completely before going bed. There are some houses around so you shouldn't be too noisy after 22:00.

You will l(PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN)e this place and Hisako-san : ) The house is amazing. There are two (yes two!) onsen in the house + foot onsen at the corridor, massage chair, outdoor BBQ stove and a big kitchen. We went there in the start of summer, so we also did HANABI. Good memories.

It's funny. You wrote "l(PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN)e" and the system recognized the too many "o" as a part of a phone number!! LOL Anyway, we really enjoyed hosting you and your friends and definitely want you to come back again! Glad to be able to share the good memories with you. And thank you very much for your delicious Thai food! We love it!

Hisako's ryokan, rented out as a unit, was a great place for a small group night. The space is quite generous and could easily accommodate 15 people or more. Our group of 7 enjoyed the public onsen across the street and then had a great sukiyaki party in the living room (which had a great fire and could handle around 10 people comfortably). The bedding was of high quality, and a light breakfast was included which was a nice surprise. Would gladly stay again!

Response from Hisako:

Hello, I'm Japanese speaking English as well. My place is an old traditional Jpanese wooden house and you can enjoy natural hot springs 24 hours a day. It's located in a mountanious small village in Japan, peaceful quiet and very beautiful. Please come if you'd like to experience the 100% authentic pure hot springs and real Japanese rural life, off the beaten path, known by only few people. I can show you around.
