The space
This self-sufficient cabin is set amongst the bush of the blue-mountains. With a large deck amongst the tree-tops, inspiring views, and cosy loft-style bed this is perfect for a writer, birdwatcher, bushwalker, meditator, or a couples getaway. The cabin is contained within the property of a larger house, also rented out on Airbnb (though the house is deep enough in the property to provide full privacy). A car is not needed for short stays as it is close to famous lookouts (Anvil Rock, Pulpit Rock) and spectacular bushwalks. However you will need to get a taxi from the Blackheath train station to the house if you choose not to bring a car.

The property overlooks the Grose Valley and provides the perfect access to the Blue Gum Forest walk. Less than ten-minutes drive from the town of Blackheath, you are close to antique-shops, small art galleries and excellent local restaurants. The cabin has one double bed, a sofa, interesting books, and a modest kitchenette. The shower and the toilet are attached to the large veranda, so you need to walk outside on the deck for about 1 metre to get from the living room to the bathroom.

The (small) kitchenette has a stove top with two hot plates, a toaster, a sink, and a bar fridge. There will be basic supplies such as salt, pepper, tea, coffee, tea pot, coffee plunger etc.

There is a stone BBQ about 20 metres from the front door of the house that guests are also welcome to use, firewood is provided.

This place is perfect for readers, writers, bushwalkers, bird watchers, couples and anyone who likes being in the bush. Please don't hesitate to ask for any more details. As the property adjoins the National Park, wildlife, insect life and reptiles are also at home here and those who might find this disturbing should look elsewhere. A family of kangaroos is often seen relaxing around the lawns. You may be awakened early morning by the birds chorus.

Guest access
The Treehouse is on a property surrounded by the Blue Mountains World Heritage Area, with direct access to the escarpment overlooking the Grose Valley, and many bush walks. The main house is set in an old terraced garden which guests are welcome to explore and this merges with the bush.

Other things to note
Please be aware Treehouse is located on the same property as the main house (Happy Daze) which is currently being used by the family. We are happy to give tips on walking tracks and the local birdlife.

Please note there is no wifi and at time phone reception can be patchy. The weather in the Upper Blue Mountains can be extreme, from heat to cold, from snow to high winds, and perhaps all in one day. It can also have exquisite still golden sunsets. It is good to come prepared with an array of clothing.

Finally, the area surrounding the property, like much of the Blue Mountains, was heavily impacted by the summer bushfires. As such certain walks and lookouts remain closed. It is best to check the NSW National Parks website for the latest information on access. Updates on any COVID-19 related closured can also be found here.

For a still-working historic cinema, Mount Vic Flicks in the next town of Mount Victoria is a gem which shows quality and art movies. The Megalong Valley, a world of its own, is a dramatic and scenic drive and a perfect place for picnics.
