We live on 1.6 acres of peaceful bushland in old Ocean Grove. A private driveway leads you into The Woods, where you'll find our two cedar cabins. Our home is on the other side of the block, with a tennis court and expansive gardens in between.
.
Our first cabin is the perfect set-up for a couple. Featuring a queen-sized bed with luxurious French linen, the earthy interior will swallow you up with natural timbers, leather sofa, soft lighting and fresh botanicals from the native garden.

Prepare a cosy night in with wine, cheese and Netflix; the kitchenette offers a microwave, kettle, toaster, bar fridge and Nespresso coffee machine (sink is in the bathroom). A selection of herbal teas, coffee, milk and sweet treats are all provided.

For a simple home-cooked meal or BBQ, the outdoor kitchen has a gas BBQ and hot plate (no oven though.) You can also pre-order a breakfast hamper or grazing platter from us.

The ensuite bathroom is separate from the main room and is clean and bright. It's a small space but has everything you need including towels, soap and hairdryer. Guests always comment on the impressive shower head and water pressure!

The covered verandah has a beautiful view of the native garden, huge gum trees and tennis court. Perch on the stools or sprawl on the daybed listening to the calls of the bush with your morning coffee or afternoon drinks. The outdoor bath and shower is an absolute experience! Rinse off after the beach or soak under the stars with the trees towering above. This is the closest you’ll get to a home among the gum trees.

The two cabins are about 20m apart and each cabin has its own private deck with outdoor bath and shower behind a curtain. The outdoor kitchen and facilities are shared with the other cabin guests. See our pics for further explanation on the layout of the property.

After a day exploring our local wineries, golf courses, shops, markets and beaches, nestle in underneath the gum trees and unwind. With outdoor facilities including firepit, pizza oven, tennis court, putting golf green and yoga mats, you’ll be laughing along with the kookaburras as the sun sets for another day on the Bellarine Peninsula.

We are 5-10 minutes drive to the town centre and beach and 10-20 mins to many local wineries.

Make a quick stopover or linger for a week. Head home feeling well-rested and happy after a hit of ocean air and nature. Now that's what life is all about.

My earliest travel memories are scribbled in the journal of a six year-old, documenting the red sand, dead cattle and river crossings through central Australia. Over the next 25 years as I trekked, soared and cycled across the globe, my eyes grew wider and my handwriting a little neater. The notes I kept on who I met, where I slept and the places that sang out loud convinced me that one day, I'd offer a stop-over of my own.

So welcome to my place; a little patch of bushland set right on the beach. Surrounded by wineries, cafes and pubs, rockpools, yoga and surfing, boutique shopping and local markets, there’s enough going on here to fill your own pages.

Along with my husband, we are happily raising our two daughters, Frankie and Maggie, who are a fourth generation Ocean Grove family. This town is in our DNA!

My most memorable adventures:
• Surviving the dubious train journey from Johannesburg to Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe
• Camping alongside a brass band in the backyard of a Serbian local for the Guca Trumpet Festival
• Dodging the donkeys on the steep trek up and down Colca Canyon, Peru
• Sharing a fruit salad with a local artist named Plaucio as we got up close with an iguana on the Galapagos Islands, Ecuador
• Eating dumplings and goulash on Christmas Eve in a snowy Slovakian village
• Serving pints at a thrilling local derby football match in Edinburgh, Scotland
• Negotiating the hills, mud, sweat and emotion of the Kokoda Track, Papua New Guinea
• Saying “I DO” in Uzes, France’s most charming village
