Are you looking for a quiet place with a unique style to walk around and rest?
Casa na Fraga is a house built in 1888, which was remodeled in 2007, based on an excellent rehabilitation project by Architect António Bandeirinha that, preserving the traditional style, gives it a continuity between the past and the future.
The house is built around the rocky area that gives it a unique character, showing itself along the 3 floors of the house.
In the living room, you can enjoy a magnificent sunset in the mountains.

The space
The house has: on the first floor, a bedroom with a double bed and a bathroom, on the second floor an open space with a kitchen, living and dining room and a mezzanine with mattresses with sleeping bags for a couple who want to bring their children.

The fireplace is not available for use. The house has air conditioning for heating and cooling.

Where you’ll be

Aldeia das Dez, Coimbra, Portugal

We would like you to appreciate the house (the details of the project and the original materials), the village, the landscape and the surroundings. And enjoy the mountains, the Serra da Estrela, before your eyes. Stroll to Largo do Pelourinho (which, in fact, is a stone cross), with its fountain and a lookout point, go up to the Mother Church, which has an impressive choir in woodcarving, made by an old local craftsman, stop at Casa da Obra (read about history and current events; we leave a spoiler: as Aldeia is part of the Schist Villages network, you may come across a jazz concert), go to Penedo da Saudade, noticing the photographs you find in the streets (where, for example, the crash of a plane in April 1953 is documented).
Viewed from the sky, Aldeia das Dez draws a V, at the apex of which is the house. Everything can be seen from this letter, from various perspectives. Enjoy the Vale de Maceira Sanctuary, its magnificent trees and a beautiful garden, which is being recreated after the great fire of October 2017. Climb to Monte do Colcurinho and ride a bike there.
You can then go to Piódão, which is part of the network of Historic Villages, Fraga da Pena and Mata da Margaraça. The road you will use has some of the most spectacular views in the country, we think. You can also travel calmly through the valleys of the Alva and Alvoco rivers, which can be seen from the house. Further on, still in the municipality of Oliveira do
Hospital, are the Roman ruins of Bobadela, with a remarkable arch and amphitheater, the Olive Oil Museum and the Mozarabic Church of Lourosa. There are also the river beaches and restaurants that we will point out to you.
A brief historical note: there was a match factory here, generations of highly skilled artisans (carvers and gilders of altars), a wool factory and weavers, who worked until a few years ago on beautiful wooden looms, making ribbon blankets.
