Take it easy at this unique and tranquil getaway cabin on 11 acres/2 beautiful ponds. Only 15 minutes away from the most beautiful beaches in Florida! Take a walk "out back" on Eglin's Reservation and true Florida nature trails. Visit our horses at the stable; give them a carrot or two.
Have a horse? Bring him with you! We board our Horse Guests too! Trail ride your horse one day and go to the beach the next day!
Need more rooms? STABLE CABIN and NUT HOUSE Listings are on the property too!
The space
We have 11 beautiful acres with 2 ponds and lots of wildlife! I run an equestrian riding stable and train primarily hunter/jumper students. Currently we own 11 horses and board several others. My family lives on the property and we have the 3 Airbnb Cabins too, so it is very peaceful and quiet on our land. But, we are only 15 minutes from "Fun-In-the-Sun" in either Destin or South Walton Beaches!
Lake and Stable Cabins both have 1 bedroom, a bathroom and an open living room/kitchen floor plan. The Nut House, the 3rd cabin, has 3 bedrooms, 2 baths and the open living room kitchen/dining area floor plan. ALL the cabins have a washer and dryer, an outdoor patio with a charcoal grill, and outdoor tables and chairs that make the evenings enjoyable.
We usually allow only one dog (with a pet fee) which must be crated when alone in the cabin. Please no cats.
Guest access
All Guests have a shared designated area in front of the large pond by the cabin/houses. The trail to the Eglin Reservation is clearly marked for hiking and for those riding their own horses. When visiting our horses at the stable, Guests may walk along the driveway and allow the horses to come to them of their own free will. To enter the stable area proper, Guests must seek us to accompany them. Sorry we CANNOT offer trail rides or riding lessons to our AirbnbGuests.
Other things to note
*The area near and around the Horses and the Stable has to be considered a QUIET ZONE for the health and safetly of the Horses and their owners/handlers. Thank you for understanding.
*Public boat ramp 5 minutes away.
*There is plenty of parking on our property for your boat/trailer. Please ask us where though because it is not in front of the cabins.
*A "Recreation Pass" is required to hike/ride on the Eglin Reservation. Currently it is only $30/year.
.
*Licenses are also needed for fishing and hunting per Florida law.
*We do not buy new linens for each new guest, but be assured they are cleaned and sanitized after each use.
*Please note we are on WELL WATER. While we are quite used to it and it is tested by the county health department quarterly, one guest in the past did not like the taste or smell. Also, due to the well, the water pressure can vary and is never high.
*Due to the size restrictions of the cabin, the hot water tank is only 25 gallons. It will not fill the tub to the top for a hot bath, nor sustain a hot shower for an extended length of time.
*We are also on SEPTIC. Please do not put anything but normal human waste and toilet paper down the toilet, and please no not put food or grease/oil down the sinks. Thank you so much.
*BUGS are prevalent in Florida and while we do our best to remove and prevent them, they can still manage to get past us sometimes especially during certain seasons or when certain species swarm.
Please just let us know and we will come over and spray “Ortho Home Defense” which is very effective and odorless.
*Keep in mind, this property is rural and adjacent to a working stable. It also backs up to 700 square miles of some of the most beautiful and natural Florida woodlands, and this is where the BUGS are coming from.
If you are here for a few days please don’t let the garbage pile up inside the cabin especially if there is food in it, take it to the outside larger garbage can.
Also, do not let the dishes pile up inside the sink with food on them. This is also considered an invitation for bugs to come and visit you.
3rd, when walking around the cabin, stable area, driveway, anywhere on property, or on Eglin reservation, keep in mind that Florida also has ticks and fire ants. Ticks will fall out of trees and bushes onto you/your dog. Fire ants will crawl onto you and bite should you stop and stand on or near their nests. Always look down before you stop.
*If you really cannot stand this type of rural living (well water, septic, bugs, wildlife), please do not choose to stay with us. Thank you. 😊
*"IN THE EVENT OF A MANDATORY ORDERED EVACUATION BY LOCAL, STATE AND OR FEDERAL AUTHORITIES ALL GUESTS MUST LEAVE THE PREMISES."
