Charming original stone cottage with Charente-blue shutters, in the peaceful hamlet of Perissac, which is under a 5 minute drive (or 20 minute bike ride on 2 bikes provided!) to the quintessentially French town of Confolens.

The space

The house consists of 2 spacious double bedrooms (with very comfortable mattresses and linen), one of which has a sofa, French doors which open on to the garden, and a woodburning stove (wood provided). The open kitchen diner has attractive wooden free standing units, all basics needed for cooking, and a kitchen table which can seat up to 8. The light and airy sitting room is the perfect space in which to relax with a glass of delicious local wine and a book (lift up the Ottoman cover for a selection!). The bathroom has a corner bath with shower attachment, sink, toilet, and a washing machine. The garden is extremely spacious, with wrought iron table and chairs for al fresco dinners, and a number of sun loungers. There is also off-road parking.

Interaction with guests

I won't be on hand but my sister, Sue, lives in the house next door and will be on hand to greet you with the key, settle you in, and answer any questions and give some local recommendations (she has lived in the area for 5 years).

Other things to note

Please note there is no Wifi. There is a cafe in the local town which will permit you to use theirs (if you get a cup of coffee!)

We arrived tired and weary at the end of a long hot journey, we were met by Sue, who was a delight, very pleasant and helpful. Catherine (her sister) had very kindly booked us a table at a local (excellent) restaurant. The cottage was inviting, cosy and relaxing. I can certainly recommend it. Thank you both for a very pleasant stay.

Perfect for what we were looking for. Nigel and Sue were very helpful next-door neighbours, providing lots of local knowledge, and they were very friendly and kind. We enjoyed our stay, thank you Catherine for sharing your home, we would like to return.

Great little house in the French countryside. Confortable, quiet and cozy for 2 to 4 people. We spent 2 nights there and we really enjoyed it. Thanks a lot for a memorable stay. I can only recommend it.

This is a great little cottage. It was welcoming and comfortable. It was exactly the kind of resting spot we needed for our brief stay.

Our stay at Roberta's cottage was wonderful. The place is lovely and cozy, and little attentions made us feel home away from home right away. The breakfast on the terrace was a must under the morning sun! Highly recommended.
