'Old Oakley' was formerly a pub known as 'The Rose Inn', and was transported from Merriwa town to the farm 'Oakley' in 1932.
Its country charm offers a comfortable, cosy and relaxing escape situated on a working farm in the hills of the Upper Hunter Valley.

The township of Merriwa (NSW, Australia) is situated on the Golden Highway, midway between Newcastle and Dubbo. It is an ideal place for a stop over, as it is centrally positioned between Dubbo, Newcastle Tamworth and Bathurst. Merriwa offers many different activities and attractions including The Goulburn River National Park, The Battery, many different Historical Buildings and a Bottle Museum containing over 5,000 bottles. Merriwa is the Birth place of Pony Club. It is a 3.5 hour drive from Sydney.
Situated only a 50 minute drive from Scone, the horse capital of Australia, 40 minutes from Denman and local wineries such as 'Two Rivers' and 'Hollydene'.
Cassilis and it's historical pub is 30 minutes drive west while Mudgee and it's many wineries is a 70 minute drive away
There are a number of good cafes, pubs, and clubs in the town of Merriwa. It also hosts an Olympic sized swimming pool (open October - March), a cycling path, Tennis courts available to hire as well as historical walks.

Lives in Merriwa, Australia
I was born in England, have lived in Australia for over 32 years. Married to Rowan, we run an Angus Cattle breeding farm on 'Oakley' which has been in the Rodgers family for four generations. 'Old Oakley' has been recently renovated with a touch of English country charm which I hope creates a homely and comfortable place for anybody to stay. I hope to welcome guests and I will always be only a phone call away.
