Sinaia, Județul Prahova, Romania

Two rooms fully equipped, in a new building (2014), at the foot of Bucegi with a special view at the Baiu mountings. Parking, fully equipped kitchen, cable TV, individual central heating.
You cas visit the royal Peles Castle of Furnica. Restaurants and coffee, including the famous Taverna Sarbului, as well as other historic buildings and the castle park.
At the edge of judeţ Dâmboviţa, this city is located in the Prahova Valley, between the Bucegi Mountains to the west and the east Baiu Monts.
Sinaia, 45 km south of Brasov and 63 km northwest of Ploiesti (the capital of judeţ), place of popular resort, welcomed the result of the royal family's most illustrious personalities of the country.
Distant 125 km from Bucharest, Sinaia is often called the pearl of the Carpathians to the natural beauties that surround it

The first written mention of the village dates from 1581 when is reported the presence of the chapel Saint-Nicolas. From 1690, the Prince Mihail Cantacuzino built a monastery named after Sinaia Mount Sinai, Egypt where he performed a pilgrimage as a thank you to have escaped an assassination attempt in the area of Prahova2 . The foundation of the monastery takes place in 1695.

It was at the end of the nineteenth century Sinaia really takes off when King Carol I of Romania there had built a pleasure castle, Peles Castle, he spends summer royal residence and when in 1880 Sinaia gets city status. Many homes are built there, the Pelisor Castle for Ferdinand crown prince and his wife Mary, a casino, a station on the new railway line.
The magnificent Peles Castle is the heart of a huge park. Architectural mingling southern German Renaissance and Italian Renaissance outside, Peles combines within it all European styles and Art Nouveau ornamentation.
After the seizure of power by the communists and the exile of King Mihai I, the royal castle and its dependencies become state property and are reserved for dignitaries of the new regime. After the Romanian Revolution of 1989, Peles Castle, now a museum and once again become property of the former King is publicly available.

Ski in Sinaia

Sinaia's ski slopes are situated at 2000m altitude. Here you can experience the best high altitude ski in Romania. The ski season starts in December and lasts sometimes until May.
The access to the slopes is possible from the city center, by taking the first cable car to Cota 1400 and then a second cable car to Cota 2000. You can also go to Cota 2000 using the 4-seats express chairlif. To Cota 1400 one can also go by car. The ski slopes are divided on the two sides of the mountain. To the east side, towards the city, the skier can experience the most spectacular slopes, the black ones. The slopes follow the cable car line and there is a great variety of off-piste possibilities. All the slopes end in the same point, which is the cable car station at Cota 1400. The demanding terrain is working you out, so there is no time for getting bored.
The new 4-seats express chirlift gives you the possibility to explore the eastern side of the mountains, where it some intermediate and beginner slopes. It is a great place for snowborders too. When you are is plenty of powder and rough terrain. All the black slopes are located on the eastern side. The new chailift offers a fast alternative of going up and also gives you the possibility to rest during two descents.On the west side of the mountain there is the great Sun Valley.Here there is situated the Dorului Hut, at the end of the chairlift line. The Sun Valley has a milder aspect and here you can experience eager for a break, Dorului Hut is a great place to spend some time. The high altitude and the white surroundings makes the place perfect for a sun bath during winter. If you plan to enjoy the sun, don't forget the sun blocking cream!! The atmosphere is also warm, you can serve snacks, lunch or just have few drinks. Of course, here you can find vin fiert (warm wine).
