Living off grid tips
☀️Use heavier appliances like AC, heat, or blow dryers during the day when the sun is powering the home.
☀️Limit evening use of high-powered devices (the home runs on battery power at night)
☀️Turn off lights and unplug devices when not in use.
☀️Water is drawn from our private solar-powered well, so mindful water use helps too!
Guest access
You have access to the entire cottage as well as the fenced in area around the cottage. Only space that is currently not ready for guests is the garage.
Other things to note
****Real Mountain Life****
We are in a rural area in the mountains on a homestead . The driveway gets dusty please drive slow. There is the occasional bug, spider, frog or little lizard that sometimes find their way into the home.
This is a pet friendly home, pets and farm animals live on the property. If you arrive early you will meet our pups, they come down to clean the cottage with us. Although the farm area is on a separate area of the property you may see, hear or get visited by escaping farm animals(especially the goats!) or local wildlife.
We get the occasional power outages during fire season in the summer and during storms in the winter. Most likely you will not experience any of these issues but we want to be as straightforward with our guests as possible.
**** Natural disasters 2022****
We survived the destructive Oak fire July 2022.
You will see the burn scar on the mountain behind the house. You will also see the burnt trees along the driveway when you come in. The fire came up to the side of the home burning off the gutters and garden hoses. We are incredibly lucky we didnt lose either of our homes!
****A note on pets****
We love pets! We have have a bunch of our own and yours are welcome with you but please be respectful of the pet rules. Please no dogs that shed excessively. There will be an additional fee for excess pet hair. Please give your pup a bath before coming over, especially if they will be joining you on the furniture.
For the safety of our critters and yours please keep pets on a leash outdoors at all times. We would prefer you not to leave your pets home alone but if you do they MUST be in a kennel. Pets must be potty trained. Additional cleaning fee applies for cleaning up pup accidents.
****A note about hiking ****
Due to the wild fire in 2022 we have down trees of the property. At this time we are asking guests not to go hiking and to stay with in the fenced area around the cottage. Pictures in the listing are the guest areas on the property.
