A restored 1960s beach shack, just five minutes’ walk from Second Valley Beach. The Valley Shack combines original character, vintage pieces and a relaxed retro feel with everything you need for a comfortable stay by the coast. With a king and queen bedroom, two living areas, an elevated deck and a private, fully fenced garden, there’s plenty of room to settle in and slow down — with dogs very welcome too.
The space
A restored 1960s beach shack, five minutes’ walk from Second Valley Beach.
The Valley Shack is our take on the classic Australian beach house: original character, vintage pieces and a relaxed retro feel, updated with everything you need for a comfortable stay by the coast.
Set among established gardens near Second Valley Beach and its historic jetty, it’s an easy place to spend a few days by the sea — with dogs very welcome too.
THE HOUSE
The shack has two bedrooms — one with a king bed and one with a queen — and two separate living areas, so there’s plenty of room to spread out.
There’s an elevated deck overlooking the garden — a favourite spot for morning coffee, long lunches or a drink at the end of the day. Inside, you’ll find comfortable places to read, listen to music or settle in after a day at the beach.
The kitchen is fully equipped for cooking at home, with everything you need for a weekend away or a longer stay. We keep it stocked with a few essentials to make settling in easy, including ground coffee, black and herbal teas, olive oil, salt and pepper.
THE GARDEN
The private, established garden has a generous lawn and plenty of space to sit, watch the birds and enjoy the sunset over the rolling hills of Second Valley.
The yard is fully fenced, so dogs can enjoy the shack too.
THE BEACH
Second Valley Beach is just a five-minute walk away.
Swim in the protected cove, snorkel around the rocks, fish from the historic jetty or follow the coastline for some of the best views on the Fleurieu Peninsula. Come home, wash off the sand and spend the rest of the afternoon on the deck.
The Valley Shack is relaxed, comfortable and a little nostalgic: a place for swimming, reading, cooking, sleeping in and doing very little.
