The space

Situated just outside of Mt Compass on the stunning Fleurieu Peninsula, our family farm 'Kilchoan ' offers the perfect rural getaway! Sleeping up to 6 guests and suitable for families with children, this property is an ideal base for exploring the renowned Mclaren Vale wine region and the beaches of Victor Harbour (15min drive).

The farmhouse itself is basic but comfortable; there are 3 bedrooms (2 queen beds and a third room with 2 single beds), and a large living/dining room with adjoining kitchen. There is an oven, electric stove, fridge, BBQ, LCD TV (with good reception!) stereo with ipod dock, and a central pot-belly combustion stove - it is lovely having a roaring fire inside during the winter months, and some wood is provided for your use. We have a fully stocked kitchen cutlery/crockery/bowls/utensils etc

"How's the serenity?" - the neighbourhood is very quiet and rural - Sneyd Rd is a a dead-end road and there are only a handful of adjacent properties. We are sure you will enjoy the quiet and privacy our farm offers, and there is nothing better than enjoying the sunshine on the lawn, or listening to the frogs and birds at dusk.

If you do decide to venture out, there is lots to do right on our doorstep. Why not taste some wines at Parri Estate (Sneyd Rd) or Mt Jagged wines (Victor Harbor roads) - both have cellar doors with tasting areas! We highly recommend you pay our friends the McCauls a visit at Alexandrina Cheeses - they offer free tastings of their award-winning range of cheeses, and their milkshakes and coffee are to die for.

There are lots of other activities to enjoy in close proximity to our farm - we have included a folder with lots of suggestions for you to peruse on your arrival.

Please note that this is a working farm, so please respect our cows! They are friendly, and if you visit from March - May you will see lots of little calves running around... They will be kept separate from the house area and shouldnt bother you at all.

We have enjoyed the farm so much over the years and we would love to share it with you!

A perfect weekend for a girls trip. With the roaring warm fire and cosy couches and beds we had a full weekend of relaxing. With all the comforts of home and spectacular views of rolling hills and the cows we could not have asked for more. A delightful surprise awaited us in the fridge of all local SA & Mclaren Vale produce! Thank you for making our weekend full of memories.

Beautiful setting which was perfect for our two small families to relax and enjoy our weekend away. Great location for day trips to Victor Harbour, HI, wineries and Aldinga beach. The best part was coming back to the pot belly stove and a glass of wine in the evenings. Will was easy to communicate with via text throughout our stay.

We had a wonderful family get away. Our time here was so relaxing, the kids had a ball exploring the property. We had the fire on at night, and woke up to stunning views surrounding us. We would love to come back.

Was absolutely stunning! We stayed in October when everything was green and lush. The cows were amazing to watch. The fire in the house made it so cozy and felt like you were at home. Would definitely stay again

We had such a lovely break at Kilchoan rural escape. The cottage was so secluded, with breathtaking views. Will was an excellent host, keeping in touch via text to make sure we found the property and we were happy with everything. If you're looking for a rustic, secluded, "get back to nature" getaway, I'd highly recommend this property. The house was neat and tidy and the Nespresso coffee machine was an added bonus.

The homestead is in a beautiful location and the views are amazing! We could look out all day. It's also great for the kids to see the animals up close and get back to nature. The homestead is well laid out, everything you need with the fireplaces being the highlight. A great place for a weekend away.
