Situated just outside of Mt Compass on the stunning Fleurieu Peninsula, our family farm 'Kilchoan ' offers the perfect rural getaway! Sleeping up to 6 guests and suitable for families with children, this property is an ideal base for exploring the renowned Mclaren Vale wine region and the beaches of Victor Harbour (15min drive).
The farmhouse itself is basic but comfortable; there are 3 bedrooms (2 queen beds and a third room with 2 single beds), and a large living/dining room with adjoining kitchen. There is an oven, electric stove, fridge, BBQ, LCD TV (with good reception!) stereo with ipod dock, and a central pot-belly combustion stove - it is lovely having a roaring fire inside during the winter months, and some wood is provided for your use. We have a fully stocked kitchen cutlery/crockery/bowls/utensils etc
"How's the serenity?" - the neighbourhood is very quiet and rural - Sneyd Rd is a a dead-end road and there are only a handful of adjacent properties. We are sure you will enjoy the quiet and privacy our farm offers, and there is nothing better than enjoying the sunshine on the lawn, or listening to the frogs and birds at dusk.
If you do decide to venture out, there is lots to do right on our doorstep. Why not taste some wines at Parri Estate (Sneyd Rd) or Mt Jagged wines (Victor Harbor roads) - both have cellar doors with tasting areas! We highly recommend you pay our friends the McCauls a visit at Alexandrina Cheeses - they offer free tastings of their award-winning range of cheeses, and their milkshakes and coffee are to die for.
There are lots of other activities to enjoy in close proximity to our farm - we have included a folder with lots of suggestions for you to peruse on your arrival.
Please note that this is a working farm, so please respect our cows! They are friendly, and if you visit from March - May you will see lots of little calves running around... They will be kept separate from the house area and shouldnt bother you at all.
We have enjoyed the farm so much over the years and we would love to share it with you!
Ours is a working farm - please respect our cattle and leave all gates as you find them. No smoking inside. Please remember we rely on rainwater collected during winter - 2 minute showers only. No pets. No firearms. No outside fires.
Due to problems with foxes, we ask that all guests please take their rubbish and food scraps with them when they leave (recyclables are fine and may be left in the bin provided) - thank you for your understanding.
I work in energy and enjoy making music in my spare time. I love travelling and meeting new people!
