This bespoke retreat blends thoughtful design with modern comforts, perfect for unwinding. The open-plan living area invites relaxation, and the kitchen is equipped for cooking up a feast. Outside, spacious decks offer lounging and the occasional whale sighting. On cold nights, the wood fire adds a cozy touch, while the beach is just a short walk away.

The space
Sheoakes is a stylish, designer-built beach house located in Falmouth, a quiet coastal village on Tasmania’s east coast. Rich in both style and comfort, the home was thoughtfully designed as a perfect retreat. It’s an ideal base for exploring the stunning coastline, with easy access to the Bay of Fires to the north and Freycinet to the south.

The home offers plenty of opportunities for relaxation, whether guests want to unwind on the spacious decks, enjoy ocean views, or watch for fishing boats, Sydney-Hobart yachts, or even Southern Right and Humpback whales that sometimes breach nearby. Inside, the open-plan living area creates a warm and welcoming space, and the gourmet kitchen—equipped with quality appliances, including a gas hob, electric fan-forced oven, and Miele dishwasher—makes it easy to cook up a feast.

The funky second-bedroom sleep-out adds an extra cool twist. It’s separate from the main house, with a comfy double bed and a chill space perfect for reading or napping. The outdoor shower is a blissful way to wash off after a beach day or surf session, especially under a starry sky.

At night, guests can enjoy breathtaking views of the Milky Way on clear evenings. Just steps from the house, the “Coastal Walk” offers scenic paths along the headland, lagoon, and beaches, adding to the charm of this beautiful location.

Guests are encouraged to bring all their outdoor gear—bikes, surfboards, kayaks, fishing rods, dive equipment, and more, because outdoor living is encouraged here!
Falmouth is a relaxed, laid-back beach town with no shops, so it’s recommended that guests do a big grocery shop before arriving. While the essentials are provided, the nearest stores are in St Mary’s or Scamander are both just a 10 minute drive away. For those looking for more variety, St Helens and Bicheno, located about a 30 minute drive from Falmouth, offer a wider range of shops, cafes, and restaurants.

Important details:

• Telstra is recommended for phone coverage, as Vodafone can be unreliable outside of Hobart and Launceston.
• Music lovers will enjoy the mobile BOSE speaker, which can be easily connected via Bluetooth.
• There is a small TV mounted in the lounge room, along with a selection of DVDs in the cabinet. TV reception can be unreliable, making it the perfect excuse to fully relax and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.
• There is no internet access, making it ideal for a digital detox.
• Henderson Lagoon and the beach are just a 5-minute walk away.

Neighbourhood highlights

Falmouth is off the east coast tourist trail so no street lights, no shops /petrol stations, has dirt roads etc, very quiet ........ it's great we like it like that. So come stocked up with food and wine. The nearest shop/petrol station is 10-15 min's away by car at St Marys or up the coast at Scamander.
We are 3hrs from Hobart and 2 hrs from Launceston.
1 hour to Bay of Fires to the North and 1 hour to Frecinet Peninsula to the South.
There is a great coastal walk, access is down the street in front of the house. This will take you to the beach, headland and Henderson’s lagoon.
