The space
TAMBAC sits highest on the sand dunes of Boomerang Beach, with a breath-taking view of the ocean, bookended by headlands on both sides.
As we approach the cooler months after a hectic summer beach craze, the whole village is empty. The crowd is gone. The beaches are all deserted. They are all yours — Boomerang Beach for surfing, Bluey’s Beach ruggedness, Elizabeth Beach is best for kids, patrolled weekends. Secluded Shelly Beach bathe au natural. Smiths Lake with its popular sand bar. Seal Rocks, a fishing village from the 60’s is only a short drive away.
And oh, the dolphins -- they drop in virtually daily, checking on the surfers, having a big laugh at the novice ones.
Autumn is also whale spotting time as they leisurely head back north to mate and hopefully head back in Spring with a playful calf in tow.. The whale extravaganza could last up to 3 or 4 hours to cross Boomerang Beach till they disappear in the horizon.
TAMBAC is indeed a beach house for all seasons -- for your comfort the house is fully air-conditioned with independent controls for the living and each of the bedrooms to handle any chilly or warm day. Otherwise nothing beats the sea breeze flowing through the house.
Crisp linen and fresh towels are provided for all guests of TAMBAC, just bring your own beach towels.
There is a Nespresso machine for the coffee connoisseur and complimentary Nespresso-like coffee pods for the start of your stay. There is also traditional espresso coffee maker and French coffee plunger if you prefer to take with you your favourite ground coffee.
If you love cooking, you will enjoy the kitchen with its beyond-the-basics accessories such as electric wok for the humble stir fry or the lofty paella. A blender for the perfect margarita. Sandwich press for a quick snack. Pressure cooker for the melt-in-your-mouth lamb shank. For the 300-gram wagyu, there is a gas barbie right outside the kitchen. We suggest pan grilling your steak on the high heat induction cooktop.
For the ultimate in beach side living, the pavilion facing the beach has wall to wall sliding doors on 2 sides. When you fully open both doors there is a seamless blending of indoors and outdoors -- the beach on one side and the private internal courtyard on the other and your living, dining, and kitchen in the middle of it all -- almost part of the outdoor. By the way, the courtyard is always bathed in warm sunshine especially in winter.
For your entertainment we provide free NETFLIX, free WiFi, a Nintendo Retro games machine for the children, found in one of our guest bedrooms, and a Bluetooth sound system.
TAMBAC sleeps 8 guests comfortably -- the main bedroom has a queen bed; the 2 other bedrooms have a double & single bed each. All bedrooms have an ensuite bathroom. There is also a portable cot if you have a baby in tow. Please bring your own linen for the cot.
We provide tea, coffee, sugar & milk, salt and pepper, olive oil & balsamic vinegar, and all your linen needs including bath & tea towels, bath mats, shampoo & conditioner, shower body wash, hand wash, toilet paper, napkin roll, napkins, washing powder, dishwasher tablets & dish washing liquid.
We also order plenty of sunshine for your stay but there is no money back guarantee on that because our Supplier can be moody at times. Anyway, if the sky is stormy and the sea is grey the vista is still uniquely dramatic and will awe you.
In the late evening turn off all lights including the TV and lie down on the outdoor sofa, recliners, or even down on the deck floor. With no town light to diminish your experience look up at the billion stars and the whirling Milk Way.

The township of Forster-Tuncurry is a 20 minute drive north on the Great Lakes Way where civilization can be found — also supermarkets, bottle shops, hardware stores and wide choices of cafes.

When you have settled in at TAMBAC you may wish to try the FISH COOP at the foot of the bridge on the Tuncurry side. The best stuff sell very quickly so we suggest you drop in first thing in the morning.

Try the mud crab, cooked or fresh, most often cheaper than Sydney prices. We personally prefer mud crabs to lobster because their meat is sweeter and texture softer than lobsters, other than mud crabs being less pricier than lobsters most times.

The tender and sweet school prawns at the COOP are never frozen, fresh and caught locally.

Fresh Wallis Lake oyster are also available from oyster farmers right by the shore of the lake. Make a left from McDonalds by the main road just past Woolworth’s as you head to Forster from TAMBAC.

“My favourite local place is “Hueys @ Blueys”.
They do a nice pizza and beer on tap. My recommendation is the “Bells” (if you like it hot!)j

** Although the Fish Coop and the Wallis Lake oysters remain firm favourites of ours. However give the following a try when eating out.

Kembali is great for coffee, lunch and dinner. I can certainly recommend the steak wrap a favourite of mine for lunch. Kingfisher Cafe has some really nice dinners but best of all they use a selection of wonderful local produce in their menu.

Pacific Palms Recreation Club is a magical place to watch the sun setting over the lake, have a bite to eat and enjoy live music.

The Takeaway at Smiths has had a make over and is a great place to grab breakfast on the way to the lake, really enjoyed the egg and bacon rolls. Frothy Coffee Boat Shed remains a favourite of course.

** There is boat charter in Forster-Tuncurry for deep sea fishing or whale watching.

We suggest that you visit the Green Cathedral, the Lighthouse at Seal Rocks, the marinas in both Forster and Tuncurry.

The shallow inlet that flows under the Tuncurry bridge has several “dingy for hire” all along its shores — try your luck with flatheads and bream — plentiful in the brackish water of the inlet.
