A historic, cozy loft cabin in the heart of the township. With its own spacious garden surroundings and offstreet carpark. Comfortable queen bedroom upstairs and downstairs kitchen and nook lounge, shower and toilet. Cosy and quaint, perfect for a short or long stay and very close to all restaurants and town facilities. Everything you need for a home away from home base while you holiday or work.

The space

The space is perfectly quirky! Romantic for couples on holiday or practical and easy for workers/visitors needing a base home-away-from-home. There are stairs to the bedroom - take these slow and carefully! The kitchen has a fridge, stove and everything to cook up a storm. We try to include some herbs and condiments so you can feel like you're at home. Shower and toilet is equipped with all towels, soaps etc. the lounge has a TV and small table and chairs for two. The Dolls House is a landmark of the township and part of the history of Kangaroo Island. We've thought of most everything you need to be comfy and hope you enjoy your stay. But if you find something is missing I am only a few blocks away for help and assistance.

Guest access

You have access to the whole house - little as it is! Bazza the owner lives in a separate house adjacent and far away enough not to disturb you unless you want to wander over for a chat. He's lived here longer than me and knows a great deal about the Island's history - he's also good for a dad joke or 10!

Interaction with guests

I live not far away in the next block of the township - a short walk or quick drive if needed and absolutely happy to help with anything you need.

Other things to note

Kangaroo Island can be tricky - there are some very unique things about our island home - but don't be afraid to ask away! If you're coming by ferry there is an information kiosk in Penneshaw.

Cathie was a great host. She was very prompt with her communication and check in was so easy. The doll's house was a great place for a weekend away for a couple. Perfect location and has everything we needed. Tip: use shower with low pressure so hot water lasts longer. Tiny house, tiny hot water tank. ; )

The structure and the history of the Doll House will amaze you. The neighbourhood is perfect to get away for a quiet break. Cathie made sure we had everything we needed - the extra heaters, plenty of good reads and some games to enjoy our evenings. Highly recommended in case you are staying in Kingscote. The house is very close to all the shops/cafes/restaurants.

Great location in Kingscote. Small, quirky house -feels bigger on the inside than what it looks on the outside! Lovely stay in KI.

I stayed here for two nights. Everything was cozy, cute and clean. Cathie was very easy to contact and replied to messages very quickly. I would stay again. Thank you.

Dolls house is a very different place from what we have come across so far. House is very compact and perfect for couples. We've used it as our base in KI during our 4 nights stay.. Would recommend to anybody who prefers a place in Kingscote.

The hot water service wasn't great, only luke warm showers, not cold but not hot, and the building was a bit draughty. Everything was excellent, house was clean, key was in the door on arrival, full kitchen, and dishes. I really enjoyed how small it was but how much they could fit in had a ball. The location is probably the best thing, within walking distance of anything in Kingscote worth walking to. If you're staying in summer ignore the first sentence of this review, this place would be great.

I've lived on this beautiful island for over 25 years and love it! Quiet in winter and beach, sun, surf lifestlye through summer. I work, live and play here and have just set up this gorgeous little self-contained house to share with others to enjoy and for people who visit for work and professional reasons.
I've used Airbnb myself and love the casual, friendly and relaxed way of booking accommodation and meeting new people.
