it was so lovely to meet you and have you stay with us. Thanks for your flexibility. Yes, you are right, our home was built in the 50's and is a classic old Hawaiian home! We love the charm of it :)
I am sorry you didn't mention your desire to close the curtains on the backyard side of the room, as I would have shown you how easy it is to close the louvers, which that side of the room has instead of curtains. Most folks who stay with us like leaving it open since it faces our backyard and is quite private. Ah well, live and learn! I'll make sure to instruct future guests on that option in case they don't figure it out :) Thanks for the heads up on that.
Yes, one of the realities of island living (especially when your house is surrounded by a big, jungle like property) is that some critters do make their way into the house, no matter how hard you try to keep them away. Being from the island you learn that it is part of life sometimes and just do your best to keep a tight ship and keep the house as spic and span as possible to keep them at bay. We don't use pesticides in order to avoid exposing our family and guests to poison so we do the best possible with cleanliness and natural remedies. We'll keep doing our absolute best to make sure the house is so clean that critters have no interest in visiting...ever... lol. I also recommend guests not eat or keep food in their rooms for this reason, as that makes a huge difference.
Thanks for all your feedback and it was such a pleasure hosting you!! I hope the wedding was beautiful and that your trip home was smooth and safe :)
