My comfortable one bedroom apt (king bed and sofa bed) tucked away inside this magnificent historic barn is a perfect spot for a cozy rural get away. Moments away from world class food and drinks, this beautiful rural surrounding is a wonderland for many activities.

The space

The historic Greensboro Barn was built in 1880. I have been in love with this barn my whole life. Over twenty five years ago I decided to make it into my home, where I raised my family and have my studio and gallery. Located in the heart of Greensboro, the barn is just a half-mile from Caspian Lake and the village and a few miles to Hill Farmstead Brewery. There is wifi, though because of this rural area it's not always reliable for streaming. The space has it's own entrance with finished wood floors, deep set windows and unique live-edge, raw wood trim throughout. There is one large bedroom, (king bed) and a kitchenette, dining, and living space (with a full/futon couch) and a full bathroom. The space is well insulated and heated with a beautiful, gas (wood style) stove. The kitchenette is equipped with a refrigerator, microwave, electric hot plate, toaster oven, coffee maker, electric tea kettle and crock pot.

Willey's Store, a well known old fashion general store, sells groceries, Jasper Cellars cheese, Hill Farmstead beer, gasoline and marks the center of Greensboro Village and is less than a mile away. Hardwick, the center of the locavore movement is just 6 miles away with restaurants that serve farm to table fare. Near by is the Craftsbury Outdoor Center with summer rowing and biking, in winter x-c skiing, skating and good food (rentals available).

The barn is an inspiring agricultural cathedral, which has been lovingly restored over a 25 year period, and is surrounded with gardens and fruit trees. There are wonderful places nearby to walk, run, ski, hike or bike; and just down my road you can play golf on a beautiful 9 hole golf course or tennis on one of the 7 red clay courts. The pristine Caspian Lake, is the heart of the area and features great swimming, boating and (ice) fishing.

It's not every day that one gets to stay in a barn and experience a beautiful piece of paradise.

Guests have access to the main level of the barn and all the gardens and outside surroundings.

The Historic Greensboro barn is a truly amazing place! From it's serene views of the Vermont countryside, to the cozy feeling and attention to detail in the apartment itself, as well as Jen's friendliness and warmth - this is the place to stay. The barn also has a great location, it's just a few minutes drive to Willie's General store, the public beach at Caspian Lake, Hill Farmstead, and easy hiking at Barr Hill. You're also very close to Hardwick if you're looking for a breakfast or dinner spot. My husband and I spent our mornings enjoying the view out the back of the barn watching the fog dissipate, and our evenings watching the stars. I don't think I could imagine a more relaxing or rejuvenating getaway.

Jennifer was an outstanding host, gave great recommendations, and exceeded our expectations overall! The space was very clean, much larger than expected and the scenery was absolutely breathtaking. The location fit our needs very well, with Hill Farmstead Brewery being just a few miles away. It is not very often that one can say they have stayed in a historic 1700's barn in Vermont, but thankfully for us we can. Thank you Jennifer for making this Birthday trip one to never forget! I hope to stay here again soon!

The apartment in the Historic Barn is a perfect Greensboro location. Close to the village, but set apart in on gorgeous rural - and very quiet - road. Close to Caspian Lake, almost adjacent to Circus Smirkus, trails, and an easy drive to Bread and Puppet Theatre and Parker Pies at Glover, the gorgeous Perennial Pleasures in East Hardwick and Hill Farmstead Brewery, to name a few. Jennifer was available and responsive when we needed her but ensured we had a very private stay.

Jennifer User ProfileJennifer is a superhost.

I am the fifth generation of my family to spend summers on Caspian Lake in Greensboro. It is a very special place, which I have deep affection for and where I decided to live year round and raise my three children. Over twenty years ago I bought and saved an old historic 1880s barn and converted the chicken coop, milk house, cow stalls etc. into our home, my studio and gallery. The Greensboro Barn and property is a labor of love and an extension of my creative work as an artist. It is surrounded by a large field, beautiful trees, berry bushes, flowers, vegetable gardens and a greenhouse, all of which provide me with endless and enjoyable projects. I paint with watercolors, make functional pottery and porcelain jewelry, which are for sale in my gallery open year round by chance or by appointment. I know this region and its people well and would be happy to host you on your next trip to the area. I know you will love it here too!
