Take my hand and let me guide you to the Water through the Woods…

Water & Woods is a self-catered cabin of cosiness, nestled under a canopy of trees, and just steps away from the Purling Brook Falls hiking trails. Here is your opportunity to relax… or be active – surrounded by a very special part of the Gondwana rainforest, less than 50 minutes from the hustle and bustle of those bright lights of the Gold Coast. Yes, that’s what you’re seeing from the breakfast bar.

The space
Lots of places - indoors and outdoors - to curl up with your favourite book, or daydream the hours away, but know you’ll find it hard to look away from the view. Our outdoor bath is undercover but gives new meaning to ‘forest bathing’ and even the queen-sized bed overlooks more layers of green. There’s an indoor fireplace, an outdoor chiminea, and dining options inside, on the decks, at the breakfast bar, in the backyard, or at the lookout, using our portable picnic set. Our kitchen is basically prepped and ready for your use, whenever you can tear yourself away from the views.

Guest access
Park onsite in our cosy carport, across the road from the National Park and views to the distant sea. Front access to the first floor is via a full staircase with a railing, or you can climb 4 stairs to the back entrance. Once inside, the floor is covered with a number of rugs. Please view the photos to check that you will be able to fully enjoy these spaces.

The small area behind the cabin between the big trees and the water tank can get slippery. Guests are kindly advised to use the steps and stick to the pathways in the backyard to avoid falls, slips or injuries. Similarly, underneath the cabin is not designed for guest access. Thank you.

Other things to note
Water & Woods is your perfect chance to disconnect from your busy lives, with no TV and limited phone access. Instead, immerse yourself where the soft breeze carries the music of dancing waters and the trees whisper of times long gone. Exhale. Listen. Be.

Our nearest petrol station and grocery store is in Nerang, or Mudgeeraba, about 40 minutes away. Make sure you come prepared to fully self-cater all meals.

The Water & Woods space is for residential accommodation only. Outside visitors and location usage will be considered by prior arrangement, only. We are so close to the National Park, you can understand that preserving the quiet, the ambience and the respect of all our dear neighbours is paramount. Thank you for understanding that Water & Woods is not the place for a party and outside noise is discouraged from 10pm.

Our little cabin relies on rainwater, filtered through our shady treetops. This means that our water has a tannin colour and won’t run clear, even though it’s absolutely fine to drink, due to the regular maintenance of our filtration system. It’s a reminder of what happens when Water & Woods come together…

Speaking of our lovely bath, we provide organic bath soap to whip up a lather (go on, let it rip), but we ask that you avoid using harsh chemicals (including glitter... hee, hee) as our grey water system feeds our rainforest back yard, and we don't want our plants or critters getting sick.

We also need to remind guests that our bio-cycle toilet system requires gentle care. Other than toilet paper, please do not flush anything you haven’t already eaten or drunk. There is a waste bin for sanitary products in the bathroom.

Bushwalkers are just a few metres away from you and are mostly unaware of your proximity – so you could unintentionally hear their conversations, their oohs and aahs.

Please consider if potential contact with wildlife is going to be an issue for you before booking, and remember, in such dense forest, there is always a risk of fire. Please consult Queensland Fire Service for advice on current fire conditions before visiting. If you decide to postpone or cancel your visit due to severe, extreme, or catastrophic fire danger, you will receive a full refund.

Unfortunately, Water & Woods is not suitable for children or pets. Thanks for your understanding!

Neighbourhood highlights

The traditional owners of this land are the Kombumerri people of the Yugambeh language region of South-East Queensland. Significantly, Water & Woods is situated on Gwongorella (dancing waters) Parade.

Beautiful Springbrook National Park is directly across the street and can be accessed via a short walk. The little wooden bridge in our social media feed is directly in front of the cabin, on the hiking trail - just 100 steps from picturesque Tanninaba Falls, and a further 500m from Purling Brook Falls lookout.

Within walking distance, the Springbrook Fudge Shop is a pleasant stroll up Gwongorella Pde and then 200m further along a leafy path. In the other direction from where the Parade meets Springbrook Road, head 500m towards the Springbrook Observatory and a chance to stargaze.

We love our neighbours and all of us appreciate the beauty of this land, and its natural soundtrack. Please know that we work together to minimise our impact on this land, its inhabitants and its soundscape and hope that you will enjoy this space in this manner, too.
