The space
2@109 takes people by surprise: at more than 1,000 sq ft it's an amazing space - luxuriously appointed, bright and welcoming. The apartment has a grand Victorian heritage and we'd like to think our careful mix of contemporary style and period features complements this, while incorporating all you'd expect of a modern pied a terre - including free superfast wifi throughout.

The bedroom is perhaps the most stunning feature - with a carved, king-size mahogany four-poster, a Jacuzzi whirlpool bath for one or two, plantation shutters, solid-oak flooring, the original ornate plasterwork and an adjustable, wall-mounted TV - you can watch from the bath if you so desire! And the pampering doesn’t stop there, with Egyptian cotton sheets and plenty of towels provided.

The oak floor continues into the sitting room, which also has a wall-mounted Freeview TV with Blu-ray player and quality furnishings, including a striking designer rug and leather seating.

Black-glass splashbacks complement African granite surfaces in the well-equipped designer kitchen, which includes a fridge-freezer, dishwasher, microwave and washer/dryer for your convenience, as well as a stylish, intimate dining area.

There’s also an inviting wet room with thermostatic rainfall shower, and a bright, south-facing sunroom. Here, you can sit and listen to the DAB radio or your iPod. It’s so peaceful and quiet you’ll forget you’re actually in the heart of a bustling city as you gaze on your enclosed, private garden, with its sandstone patio and wrought-iron furniture. If the weather's fine, throw open the tri-fold doors and let the sunlight flood in!

You can access the apartment via a communal hallway or through its own private garden - a south-facing suntrap with a nod to Japanese Zen. There's also access to a larger, shared garden, which has space for parking, plus a garage if required.

Ideally situated for exploring all this inspiring city has to offer, 2@109 is close to shopping, the KC Stadium, University and ferries, as well as museums, galleries and award-winning submarium the Deep. The bohemian Avenues conservation area, with its splendid Victorian architecture, is a mere stone’s throw from the vibrant local nightlife, with some of Hull's finest restaurants, café-bars and pubs a short walk from the door. You'll find a list with recommendations in the welcome pack.

And don't miss what is widely regarded as the city's loveliest park, Pearson, with its ornamental gardens, lake and Victorian conservatory, which is home to various reptiles, fish and birds.

Hull itself is a vibrant Yorkshire city with a strong and proud maritime heritage – it has, after all, been a port for more than 800 years – and first-time visitors are often surprised and impressed by all it has to offer.

Hull has been cited in the top 15 city destinations by the Guardian/Observer (above Leeds, Lincoln and Harrogate), while in the same poll, P&O North Sea Ferries – which sails between Hull and Rotterdam or Zeebrugge - won best ferry crossing.

With excellent transport links – you can be in London in 2.5 hours by rail, catch a flight from Humberside, Robin Hood (Doncaster Sheffield) or Leeds airports or board the ferry to northern Europe – this is one of the best-connected cities in the UK and a great base for business, or simply to explore.

While you’re here, why not head up the coast to one of the many unspoilt beaches – Fraisthorpe, Tunstall or Mappleton perhaps, or visit Filey, Bridlington and Scarborough for a truly British day out.

There are nature reserves aplenty, including the awesome Spurn Point (catch it while you can!) and RSPB reserve at Bempton, home to puffins and gannets galore. It wouldn’t be Yorkshire without spectacular cliffs, and neither Flamborough nor Reighton will disappoint.

If you’re looking for tranquil, rolling fields, head for the Wolds, which so inspired the artist David Hockney, and where time seems to have stood still in the many sleepy, picture-postcard villages.

Also within driving distance are national parks the Yorkshire Dales and North York Moors, as well as Lincoln, Leeds and York.
