Henry's Dream, our lovingly renovated family holiday home, is yours to enjoy. On two acres of private waterfront bushland, Henry's Dream offers all you'll require for an unforgettable stay. An easy 35-minute drive from the ferry, you'll have the place to yourself and be perfectly located to explore all the island has to offer.
RELAX
Enjoy the ultimate relaxation experience as you step into this island haven, complete with everything you need to unwind and rejuvenate. Sink into the plush day bed and bask in the cosy warmth and ambiance of the wood heater. On warmer days, open up the huge stacker doors to enjoy the captivating views and ocean smells from the luxurious leather lounge.
Nature lovers will be enthralled by the birds you'll see and hear, while the local wallabies that inhabit the property will be sure to delight.
For sunny days, unwind outside on the hammock or bench seating on the expansive deck, shaded by a large umbrella. In the evening, grab a drink and wander down to the shoreline to watch the beautiful sunsets behind the spectacular D'entrecasteaux Channel and Hartz Mountains. On cooler nights, gather around the fire pit and enjoy the peaceful crackle of a campfire, toast some marshmallows, and gaze up at the starry sky.
On lazy wintery days, grab a book from our library, play a board game, or snuggle on the couch and watch your favourite streaming services on the 65-inch TV warmed by the cosy fire and electric heating.
INVIGORATE
Wander through native bush paths past the local wallabies to our newly built sauna and bathhouse, perched at the edge of the pristine D’Entrecasteaux Channel.
Light the wood-fired sauna and slide open the meditation room’s wall to reveal the mesmerizing Channel's waters, framed by native bushland and distant mountain ranges.
While the sauna warms for an hour or two—explore the rocky shoreline for sea glass and driftwood treasures, brave a refreshing dip in the channel’s icy, crystal-clear waters, or simply sit and breath as the breeze blows and the waves wash against the shoreline.
Once the sauna heats to your perfect temperature, settle into its cedar embrace, watching the sunset paint the horizon in amber and violet as the fire crackles softly. Feeling the heat? Cool off under the invigorating inundation shower or scamper down for another chilly plunge. However you want to do it, this space is all yours so find your own rhythm of invigoration.
INDULGE
You will be completely set up to cook in the fully equipped kitchen (if you choose to) with a collection of pantry staples available for your use. BBQing is easy with our Webber Family Q barbie on the deck.
If you prefer to eat out, the fabulous Hotel Bruny is a short two-minute drive, or enjoy a lovely half-hour walk along the beautiful Dray track that winds its way along the shoreline. Lunch at the winery is an easy ten-minute drive. Coffee lovers are sure to enjoy a visit to the Dave's Café, just down the road at Lunawanna!
If you need any supplies the Adventure Bay store is a lovely 15-minute drive. The smaller Alonah Store is 2 minutes drive. Best of all, the famous Bruny Baker Bread fridge is just 5 minutes up the road!
REFRESH
You're spoiled for choice when it comes to swimming options, with beautiful beaches in all directions. The swimming right out front is divine in the warmer summer months. Bring your mask and snorkel and marvel at the beautiful underwater garden and captivating marine life waiting just below the surface.
After your swim or surf, enjoy an amazing outdoor shower to wash off the sand and salt, particularly beautiful at sunset with a cold beer! The more adventurous will even enjoy the rustic outdoor 'dunny' option.
Inside, you'll find a spacious bathroom with a glorious rain head shower, shampoo, conditioner and bodywash provided. The heated towel rail and plush robes are an added treat.
REJUVENATE
The luxury mattress topped with buttery soft French flax linen will have you looking forward to going to bed! Draw down the block-out blinds and sleep in well past sunrise; or leave them open to enjoy the glorious starry night sky and dappled moonlight filtering through the trees.
EXPLORE
Henry's Dream is perfectly located in the centre of the island, allowing short day trips across Bruny. Take a trip to the spectacular Lighthouse, a scenic 35-minute drive, or head for an early morning surf and beach walk at Cloudy Bay, only 25 minutes by car. Adventure Bay is 15 minutes away and the Pennicott Cruise visitor centre is a 20-minute drive. You will be spoilt for choice for bushwalking opportunities.
We highly recommend combing the rocky foreshore trail in front of the property. Keep your eyes peeled, you never know what treasures you'll find washed up!
A short 2-minute walk from the driveway will lead you to the Dray Track. This is a lovely, easy, short walk through the trees along the foreshore that takes you to the beautiful Alonnah Beach and nearby Hotel Bruny and General Store.
Guest access
You’re welcome to wander the entire property, although there is a shed for the cleaners that is not accessible.
We won't be on site, but we are readily available to answer questions and have help nearby should you need anything. The property isn't fenced, so please be respectful of neighbouring properties.
Other things to note
You'll see the local wallabies that inhabit the property hopping about day and night. They love a snack, but please do not feed them bread, grains, rolled oats or root vegetables as it makes them very sick!
Also, the cost of cleaning the Sauna is included in the "Cleaning Fee'. If you chose not to use the sauna, however, let us know and we'll refund the $20 sauna cleaning cost. :)
