Our experience with Nath and the entire booking was the WORST we had on Airbnb. The story goes as follows: - We arrived to the apartment for check-in at around 8 pm in the evening for a long 42 nights' stay, Nath was not there to welcome us or give us a tour of the apartment, but…

I had a bad feeling when this guest asked for a 72 nights special price and made a reservation for only 42 nights, using the special price. I thought “dishonest”. I never met him but a friend greeted them in a shining, spotless apartment with plenty of little thoughts (red wine, local maple biscuits, fresh juice, bottled water, Nespresso capsules, bowls and poop bags for the dog, Shampoo & Conditioner, etc.). On a panic button it reads: “Don’t push this button unless of an emergency or the police will come within five minutes and they will charge 500$”. Also explained in the rules of the house that Sami said were read thoroughly. Nevertheless, first night at midnight, Sami pressed the Panic Button. The Police called, there was more panic than harm (they actually broke the system), however I thought Sami didn’t read the rules, moreover, if only he looked at the button before pressing it... I began to be worried that Sami would be scatterbrained. This is my home, not just a furnished apartment, I only rent it when I’m away. So I wrote, firmly but politely, that it was ok to stay if they feel they are up to it, and as my guests I ask them to be vigilant, considerate and respectful. He replied: “ We are not here to babysit your apartment as your "invités", or to take care of your stuff while you're away. We are here to rent it out for a hefty price as normal Airbnb customers. (...) Otherwise, if you decide not to, we look forward to finishing our full reservation in peace.” It was clear by then that Sami thinks by paying money, he was no longer my guest and that he was entitled to my home. Of course, I immediately asked airbnb to tell them to leave. He left after 11 nights: the alarm completely broken (I had to replace the system), the carpets full of dog’s hair, using dishwasher liquid in the washing machine, leaving recycling bags (in nylon) on a hot heater, opening cupboards/cabinets and helping themselves with things put away without asking. When aribnb ordered them to go, he decided to leave between 2 and 4 PM regardless of the 11 am in the rules, without asking nor thanking when I agreed. He made my friend wait four hours (saying he will get back to her shortly) and I had to interfere to put a limit to his open hours leave... Inconsiderate, but also rude and uncivil. Don’t be fooled by the polite tone in the first messages. He is reckless and will do harm to your apartment without noticing it. PS: After reading his remark, I have to add that he is a liar as well.
