The space
Set on the top of a crest overlooking Mt Samaria and the Strathbogie Ranges, Swanpool Creek B&B offers luxury accommodation and a free breakfast featuring local produce.

Guests have their own private bedroom, ensuite, breakfast room and covered carport. Freshly ironed linen and towels are provided. Reverse cycle air conditioning and heating and TV. The breakfast room has a fridge, microwave, rice cooker benchtop and storage areas. Guests have access to a BBQ (upon request) on the verandah overlooking the garden.

The free continental breakfast includes freshly made bread, home made jams, museli, seasonal fruit, plunger coffee and loose leaf tea.

Dogs are welcome, but must be kept under control at all times. we usually have an empty paddock near the house where you can run your dog/s.

Infants (2 and under) are welcome and there is room to accommodate them with you in your bedroom. You will need to provide your own bed for them. Please just let us know in advance.

An additional bedroom is available for up to 2 children and they access your ensuite and breakfast room through the master bedroom.

Guest access
We have a 20 hectare property and you are free to relax and wander through the gardens or down to the Swanpool Creek. Depending on the time of year you can see kangaroos, koalas, wombats and echidnas and enjoy the amazing birdlife in the garden.

Picnic rugs are provided so you can sit and watch the sunsets over the Strathbogie Ranges or marvel at the spectacular night sky.

During your stay
Your bedroom, ensuite and breakfast room are self contained, private and separate from the rest of the house. Your hosts are easy to contact in the main part of the house.

Other things to note
'Swanpool Creek' is a small working farm and has a vineyard (Shiraz and Chardonnay grapes), dorper sheep (often with lambs), a native timber plantation and a large garden.

We have lived in this area for 15 years and are we are very happy to share the wonderful places to see and activities to enjoy while here in North East Victoria. We are also available to assist in planning your itinerary to ensure you have a wonderful time seeing the area during your stay.

The usual check-out time is 10am. We can usually organise a later check-out time for you if required. Just check with us beforehand.

Our property has reasonably good mobile phone reception. Telstra services tend to provide the best reception. We provide free WiFi.

Neighbourhood highlights

You can relax and enjoy the garden and our small farm and use it as a base to explore the region.

You can hike or drive around beautiful Mt Samaria and the Strathbogie Ranges, ski at Mt Buller, go boating and fishing at Lake Nillahcootie, walk or bike ride around the Winton Wetlands or travel along the Ned Kelly Trail.

The Swanpool Cinema has double feature movies on Saturday and Sunday evenings as well as some Friday evenings (see www.swanpoolcinema for the current program). The cinema has a short winter recess (between July and September 2018) when an art exhibition is shown.

The historic Tatong Tavern is just a short 10min drive away. Lunch is available from Wednesday to Sunday and dinner from Tuesday to Saturday.

You can also try out the wide variety of restaurants in Mansfield and Benalla or you can pick up a take-away for dinner and heat it in the microwave provided. There are great local Thai, Indian and Chinese restaurants that also do take-away. You also have access to a BBQ, microwave and fridge.

Taste local wines at the Kooyunga Creek winery open on Friday to Sunday. The Swanpool Store also has a great selection of local wines.

Most weekends in summer you can watch gliders ride the thermals above Benalla and you can even take a tandem flight with one of the experienced local pilots.

Thirty minutes away, the Winton Raceway has an all year calendar of events including the Historic Winton Veteran Cars in May.

Michael and I run a small mixed farm and produce prize winning Shiraz and Chardonnay wine from our vineyard, run a flock of dorper sheep and tend to our rambling garden and vegetable patch. Having travelled ourselves, we have finally found home and enjoy sharing our country hideaway with guests, friends and family.
