The neighbourhood

St Arnaud the closest town, is only 2.45 hours from Melbourne, and 1.5 hours from Ballarat in the Northern Grampians. 'Grittleton' is only 15 kilometers from St Arnaud. It is a historic village boasting beautiful civic and botanical gardens, gorgeous gold rush era architecture, great pubs and of course wonderful local produce. Visit the local tourist information centre for all the best advice on what to see and do - they are full of local knowledge you cannot find online!

The Pyrenees wine district is on the doorstep, and is producing some cracker reds well worth exploring.
The world famous Grampians National Park is just over an hour away and in an hour you can be strolling the streets of Bendigo!
Try your luck at fossicking in The Golden Triangle, situated in the Greater Central Goldfields Region a short drive away.

On the property itself, you will have access to Spencer's Hill, covered with spectacular rock formations, beautiful views and lots of wildlife. Lots of space for you to get those teenage kids driving under your supervision. BYO car and at your risk!

Getting around

You will definitely need a car! No trains, buses, around here. There is a Taxi service though. The number is located on the notice board in the Kitchen.
Although there are plenty of spots to land a helicopter!

Other things to note

With 3G and 4G internet coverage for mobiles - no WI-FI or landline in the house.
We find Telstra coverage is better for mobile internet, but for voice, all services have good strength.

We had the most amazing weekend at this property. The house is spacious with everything you could need for your stay. We spent long afternoons in the wonderful pool, and could not get enough of watching the sunset over the beautiful scenic views, and star-gazing from the verandah. Highly recommend this house for a quiet, relaxing holiday.

Our group of 10 locals and ex locals 2nd stay at Grittleton was thoroughly enjoyed by all, relaxing by the pool, exploring the rocks and dams, and utilising all of the ample dining areas for meals and games. All of the communication with Hugo makes planning the stay an absolute breeze. Looking forward to our next 'gritto' catch-up!

Our stay at Hugo's Grittleton this past week was fabulous, very relaxing and a great escape from the city. The communication leading up to and during our stay was exceptional, we felt honoured to be staying at Hugo's and certainly enjoyed the big, clean and cool pool in the hot temps. Plenty of books, board games and a great kitchen filled with everything our party of 9 needed. Loved the wide open spaces, ahhhh the peace and serenity, we will be back!

Hugo was amazing making sure everything was sorted for our NYE getaway! We had an amazing time chilling out by the pool which was huge. The outdoor meals area was also a treat. The kitchen had everything we could need and great bench space. The added fridge was great for storing extra food and drinks we brought with us as well. Thanks Hugo for making our NYE amazing!!
