A quiet little surf shack set on the edge of Akaroa, in a sleepy cul-de-sac just minutes away from Beer Barrel beach and Peron Dunes.
Built back in '72 a once seafoam green shack has undergone a loving restoration.
Keeping some nostalgic touches, the barn doors and surfboard were made using the old bunk beds from the original shack, a light and airy space has been created to entertain friends and family, a home away from home.

The space
We have a full kitchen including ammenities such as a four burner stove, microwave, toaster and kettle, Nespresso machine, oven, bar fridge and freezer, making cooking at Muka a breeze. We also stock pantry essentials such as oils, salt and pepper, seasonings, tea and coffee.
Fitted out with a fire pit, outdoor shower, outdoor bath and a full deck and BBQ entertaining area Muka was designed for creating memories.

The 1970s Millard caravan adds a special touch as the second bedroom, just the right distance from the shack for privacy for those staying there. A queen size bed, heater, fan and a lovely couch area to enjoy.
Guests will need to use the main bathroom located in the shack itself as the caravan does not have a bathroom.

Guest access
Guests will have full access to the property and caravan. The property is all yours to utilise and enjoy. Muka is located in a quiet street and surrounded by bush and backs onto the estuary, which creates the feeling of complete privacy.

Other things to note
As Muka backs onto the estuary with lots of beautiful wildlife, we are unable to allow pets as there is not sufficient fencing. This also means you will encounter wildlife, from the local possums, birds, spiders and other insects. We try our best to keep the spiders and bugs out, but being in the bush sometimes mean they will make there way in.

We also have an open fire pit and decks without railings, which is why we recommend Muka as a special getaway for couples or friends and don’t think it’s suitable for children.

As we are rural we have limited internet data usage so please be considerate of other guests. By being a rural property this also means that the wifi can be a bit finicky and we appreciate your understanding with this.

We are also very excited to offer to our guests Pop up picnics Tasmania. Enjoy some beautiful local produce while enjoying everything the coast has to offer! A special discount will be applied to guests staying at Muka.
