We really enjoyed our stay of 2 nights at the appartment which is really well situated in the nice village of Aubeterre-sur-Dronne. It was a real pleasure to discuss with Bena. We will come back...

Hi guys, And next time you are passing, you must get to see our Bat Cave - I am sure Shaun will show you once he knows how much caves fascinate you. Thanks for the book and keep in touch. Shaun thinks you should talk to our German friend about your project.

Bena's place was great - clean, centrally located, spacious, quiet. Bena is a fantastic host! She was really helpful during our stay, stocked up the the fridge with breakfast food and even drove us to a nearby town one day for our friend's wedding. If you ever find yourself in this charming town, I highly recommend staying in Bena's apartment.

Bena's little home is right in the Centre of Aubeterre, which is just the loveliest place to be. You will love it there .....

This is the most fantastic location within Aubeterre as you are literally a stone's throw from the village centre, yet in a quiet cul-de-sac. The accommodation was clean and comfortable and beautifully cool during the hot weather of our visit.Bena was a very accommodating host, allowing us to stay a few hours later than planned in order for us to meet up with our family. We wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

Hugh, It was a delight to meet Elaine and yourself. If you come back one day, I will give you a history lesson of the castle, according to Bena!! Best to you both. B..

Bena's place is very cosy, perfectly suited for a longer stay than ours. Location is in the heart of Aubeterre. We regretted to stay only one night.

Bena was a charming and frinedly host who gave us a fascinating insight into the history of the château and the work currently being done on it. It was a treat to be able to enjoy the château gardens which are closed to the public. The apartment was plenty big enough for us and two teenage children for our one-night stop-over - a double bed and a put-up bed in the mezzanine area and a single bed under the stairs. Very cosy and good bathroom facilities. Great location in the château walls and a stone's throw from the main square with its open-air dining. The underground church is a short walk away and makes for an interesting visit and the river 'beach' is also an easy walk; a lovely place to swim, eat and hang out. A really memorable stay.

I am a passionate lover of all old buildings, be they cottages or castles - and have spent the last 22 years living in Ireland where I restored such buildings. I now live in France as caretaker to a medieval property, along with my husband, who is working on the gardens. We love the country village life, the people, the wildlife here and the cuiture. My husband says that I live in the 15th century. I do.
