We had a very pleasant and relaxing stay at le petit Carpia. Florence answered all our queries promptly. She and her family live in the adjoining chateau, but were very discreet hosts; we had our own screened off sitting area, plus we had full use of the large garden, which had lots of trees, so is very green and shady, and is surrounded by fields of sunflowers and vines.
The house is a 1950's extension to the chateau Carpia; it was light and airy and full of character. it was also comfortable and well-equipped. The only downside was that the bathroom could only be accessed through the smaller bedroom (the loo was separate). Not a problem with a young child, but our 15-year old was not impressed!
There is a village about 4kms away with a bakery and general store; plus there is a hypermarket about 10 kms away at La Reole. Bordeaux is 45 minutes away by car, with art galleries and museums galore, plus there is a lake for swimming at Casteljaroux about 20 minutes by car.
The surrounding roads are very quiet, and good for cycling, plus it is very close to cycle/walking paths beside the canal.
