Wake up in a peaceful and restorative small apartment with big windows and lovely wooden floors. You'll be a short bus ride to the centre of the city, and in walking distance to some of the nicer and culturally diverse suburbs in Sydney with cafes, restaurants and village atmospheres.

It's bright and clean and everything works well, so you won't need to worry about anything while you use this as a base to explore Sydney and surrounding regions, or to relax.

The space
The space is clean and open, with the big windows letting in a lot of light and fresh air. It has one bedroom with a queen-sized bed, and a small ensuite bathroom.

The main living area is lovely to sit in and look out. The kitchen is in the same room as the living area, taking up one wall of the unit with all the basics you need to cook or bake. There's a fold-out table to seat 2-3 people for meals, and provides more space when extended fully. The furniture is all on felt padding so you can easily slide things around to get the format you wish.

It's lovely to wake up in the bedroom, which has a Queen sized bed and a good quality mattress. In Summer and early Autumn the big Mulberry tree outside has lots of green foliage and in Winter and colder months the leaves drop, letting more light in. The space is easy to heat and to keep cool using the portable air conditioner and heater.

You'll be close to the Hawthorne Canal which has a green, forest-like peaceful walk heading South, and heading North will take you past the dog park and up to the bay where you'll be on a somewhat busier footpath used by cyclist, joggers and people taking a stroll.

A mosquito net will help you have a peaceful sleep in hotter seasons. It's taken down during colder months as it isn't needed and so that the room is a bit more spacious in feeling.

If you like to be surrounded by only what you need, it's a very relaxing space. Things work, and it's lovely to spend time there.

Where you’ll be

Leichhardt, New South Wales, Australia

Leichhardt is a pretty relaxed area near the city (about 20 minutes drive) and heading towards the Western suburbs of Sydney. It's known as Little Italy, but in reality is more of a melting pot of different cultures and traditions. Norton Street is the main road, with cafes and restaurants to explore. It has a Dendy cinema and a nice big bookshop called Berkelouw.

For shopping nearby, you can walk up to Market Place on the corner of Marion and Flood streets and find fairly well-priced fruit and veggies, a Woolworths, Target, food court, banks, telecommunication providers, a bakery, a health food shop and cafes.

My favourite place for a cup of tea is Cafe Bones, which is an outdoor cafe on the Hawthorne Canal famous for its 'Puppacino'! It's all about dogs first and it's nice to sit under the trees and watch the dogs playing.

My favourite place for a coffee is Bar Sport or Well Co. on Norton st. There's also Bar Italia on Norton st, but be aware they 'don't do soy', I think out of Italian principle or loyalty to coffee, I'm not sure!

Nearby suburbs in walking distance or a short bus trip away are Glebe, for it's Saturday market and little shops and food places; Newtown for its artisitic vibe and interesting shops, more of a nightlife than Leichhardt that gets a bit sleep after a certain hour; Haberfield for it's really nice food, mostly Italian; Summer Hill for the village atmosphere and peaceful vibe.

Hello,

I've lived in Sydney for most of my life and I enjoy exploring the outdoors and learning new things. I like to kayak and to go for bushwalks, and also to read and to travel. I have an interest in history and I like to meet people.

I'm new to hosting and welcome any feedback about things I can improve in my listing. I hope that you'll enjoy your stay.
