Peace and quiet

Guests say this home is in a quiet area.
Nestled within the stunning bushland of the Blue Mountains National Park, Hat Hill Cottage is an environmentally friendly mud-brick home with slow combustion fire, and features cozy interior spaces crafted with care.

Enjoy the peace and quiet of this beautiful setting, sometimes seeing kangaroos from the windows. Or, take in the wonderful cafes and restaurants of Blackheath village.

Most guests love it so much they leave at the last possible moment, so we've extended your checkout til 11AM.

The space
This cozy space is thoughtfully designed to provide everything you need for a relaxing retreat, complemented by the warmth of the wood-burning stove and set up amongst the tree tops you will feel comfortable year-round.

The Cottage has two bedrooms. The main bedroom has a queen bed and the second bedroom has 2 single beds. All the beds have electric blankets and both rooms are beautifully designed. There is room for a fifth guest on the comfortable lounge, if necessary and we have a portacot for the little ones.

The cottage is close to some of the most beautiful walks/look outs in the Blue Mountains – including Cliff Top Walk, Perrys Lookdown and the stunning Grand Canyon. It is just a 5 minute drive to the great cafes, gourmet restaurants, galleries and shops of Blackheath. Or it's just 10 minutes down the road to Katoomba and Leura.

We love to host and all are welcome here with open arms.

Guest access
You'll have full use of the self contained Cottage. The area around the cabin is quiet, native bushland that is home to many native birds and animals.

We are proudly an inclusive stay and all guests of any background or community are welcome here in this safe space.

Other things to note
We stock a basic pantry that includes: Ground Coffee Beans, Long Life Milk, Black and Herbal Teas, Salt, Pepper & Olive Oil with plunger coffee-making options.

The cottage is accessed via a small set of stairs - so for guests with mobility issues please take this into consideration. The Garage is locked for storage use, but will not be accessed while guests are staying in the cottage.

Neighbourhood highlights

Blackheath is still a quiet village with lots of character and charm - it doesn't have the weekend crowds of some of the other more touristy villages.

The cottage is located on the edge of Blackheath - a five minute drive from the station. Blackheath Village has plenty of shops, cafes and restaurants. Go to Hounslow for good coffee (though most places are pretty good). Our pick of local restaurants are Blaq, Ates and Frankie & Mo's. The Gardners Inn is nice for a drink by the fire in winter.

It's a ten minute drive to the towns of Katoomba and Leura. There you’ll find larger supermarkets, an interesting Cultural Centre and Art Gallery, the Scenic Railway and Three Sisters. Leura is famous for its gardens, boutiques and cafes.

Blackheath is great for trail running, rock climbing and mountain biking and has some wonderful look outs that are accessible by car.

Down in Megalong Valley you can go horse riding and visit wineries and tea rooms. Jenolan Caves and Mt Tomah Gardens are also worth a visit. The mountains has a huge variety of attractions – something for everyone.

Have a look at our Guide Book for lots of recommendations.

Of course, we also highly recommend you get some supplies and sit back and relax in the cottage. It's a great location to take in the stars at night and to really have a break.

We love being outside in nature. Most of the time you'll find us out trail running or bush walking, or pottering around in our garden. Of course we also love a good cup of coffee and tea, a glass of wine and yummy food. All of which is readily available in Blackheath. We love staying in Airbnbs around the world when we travel and look forward to hosting you if you are ever in this part of the world!
