A charming 1880's church that overlooks the colo river.

The space

Charming Church on the of the Colo river. Has 2 bedrooms. The main bedroom has a double bed and the second bedroom has a double and a single. A cot is also available for toddlers. The church is on an acre of land and is surrounded with gardens. There are fruit trees and veggie. If you are lucky you should be able to collect some asparagus in the morning! It has a beautiful view down to the river and over the mountains. For those who have a boat there is a good public boat ramp 400m away at the Skeleton rock reserve.

You can read more about on the design files and enter Maison Balzac or see a video of it on the Chanel 10 site The Living Room series 4 Ep.5 at 26 mins.

Guest access

The guest will have use of the bikes for cruising along the river, and use of the gardens.

Interaction with guests

We won't be here but will be on the phone if you need any advice.

Other things to note

These are the things we love doing:
Cycling along the river.
Wine tasting at Tizzana winery
Homemade scones and tea at the oldest church in Nsw, Ebeneezer church.
Picking up freshly caught prawns from the local trawler Gary Howard.
Lunch at the apple bar in Bilpin
A country drive and dinner at the Settlers Arms in St Albans
A walk around the Botanical gardens and lunch at Sean's Panorama after at Mount Tomah.
.....but our favourite is to bring all the supplies and not go anywhere!

What an exquisite place! We had a supremely relaxing few days. Comfy beds, comfy couches, super stylish interiors and gorgeous light-filled space to hang out in. Great collection of books too! My main suggestion to other guests would be to bring everything with you because it's quite a drive to the nearest shop.

Staying at the 1880's Church by the Colo was like living in a beautiful Country Style magazine for a few blissful days. Decorated so simply and perfectly with a gorgeous garden and the Colo river nearby, it was all we needed for a much needed getaway.

A perfect little escape for the weekend. A short drive out of Sydney but you feel hours away. We had such a nice time relaxing by the fire with a glass of wine and making fresh juice with the locally grown oranges that were waiting for us on arrival. I'd highly recommend a visit if a relaxing weekend is what you're after, we can't wait to get back there! Like Pablo said on our arrival "it's good for the soul out here"

The church was really beautiful, lots of lovely little touches -such a novelty to stay somewhere like this. We enjoyed sitting by the log fire on the cold nights with a glass of wine - perfect and cozy. We had our one year old with us and the house was relatively child friendly - just a few steps & sockets to be weary of. There is a cot and highchair available which was great. The electricity and water cut off a couple of times but we managed to re-set & Pablo was at the other end of the phone to help us with the oven. The phone reception was poor, but we didn't mind at all! It's a good chance to turn off the phone, enjoy each other's company , the surroundings, views, birds, peace and quiet. Oh and the swing hanging from the tree was great, we all loved it! I'd definitely recommend staying here- not only for the amazing accommodation but also, the area is great..a little part of the Hawksbury we are delighted we now discovered. We spent some time down by the river and visited Tizzana Winery (got stocked up..a lovely owner & gorgeous setting!) and Ebezener Church which had a quaint little cafe offering afternoon tea- both within a 15-20 min drive of the accommodation. We hope to be back one day- thank you so much for our stay!!

We had a lovely stay at Pablo's place, it was the relaxing little getaway we had been looking forward to. The fireplace was amazing and they have done a really nice job at converting the church into a cosy little nook. The only downside is you can't really go chill out by the river or walk along it as there's only boat access and no walking tracks but we were lucky enough to have great weather and sitting in their lovely backyard and playing cards was all the entertainment we needed. Thanks guys it was awesome. X
