The space
Our guests will be able to fully succumb to the magical retreat where nature and tranquility merge together in harmony. A stones throw to your very own private creek (complete with inclusive Kayak)… the rock pools, glow worms and cozy nights by the fire await you. Once known as Olsons Bird Gardens, you’ll be able to see remnants of the adventure areas past with secret pathways and colossal bird cages. Inside the newly built Acute Abode you’ll experience an open plan living and kitchen area with a split level loft style bedroom that is accessible via a staircase. A beautifully designed bathroom and a deck overlooking an abundance of land.

What was once just a dream for us, is now reality in the form of a wholesome, heartwarming retreat that we get the pleasure of sharing with you. Its our utmost pleasure to be able to invite you to experience the place we love completely.
The Acute Abode has been perfectly finished with concrete floors and beautiful furniture thoughtfully sourced. Giving our guests a luxury experience with the finest SMEG appliances and the worlds softest cotton sheets. Light the fire, have the Barbecue, drink the wine on the verandah in this one of a kind location. Immerse your self in disconnecting with the outside world by taking a dip in the creek or watching the rain fall from the comfort of the handmade loft bed… whatever your heart desires at the Acute Abode, we will be there to welcome you with open arms.
To make your stay perfect, we love to provide you with the small things you need to ensure your stay at the Acute Abode is magical. We only use high quality bed linen for your stay as well as providing you with plenty of bath towels, Pantry essentials such as salt and pepper, olive oil, honey, Teas and Coffee as well as oat, dairy and almond milk. Firewood, fire-starters and mosquito spray are all also included in the Acute Abode.
Feedback is welcomed warmly with any suggestions you may have to make your stay even more special.

LOCATION HIRE / FILM SHOOT AVAILABILITY :The Acute Abode is the perfect location for any creative. We are happy to discuss all and any enquiries from Photoshoots to filming. PLEASE NOTE - ALL PHOTOSHOOTS MUST BE DISCUSSED AND PRE APPROVED WITH THE OWNERS.
Photography must be pre approved by the property owner and will incur Fees. Any circumstances where more than the booked guests occur, fees will be applied.
At this stage we cannot allow weddings or events.
Guest access
Accessing Acute Abode is easy with self check in lock box and secure electric gates at the front of the property. Along with our sister property, The Valley Cottage and the property Owners, Guest staying at the valley cottage are able to explore designated areas of the grounds along with other guests staying on the property outlined in our welcome book, including our private section of Currumbin creek as well as our own rainforest walks and rockpools. Exploring these grounds you may cross paths with other guests from the acute abode who are also free to use the same creek frontage, kayaks and rainforest walks. We ask all guest are respectful of people who reside on the property, taking extra care of their noise level whist exploring.
Once previously know as Olsons Bird Gardens there are still reminiscences of its previous life as a wild life park with rare flora and Fauna to be discovered.
The Acute Abode is just a short drive to most places - 15 Minutes to Currumbin Beach, 10 Minutes to Currumbin Rock Pools, 20 minutes to Coolangatta Airport and 20 minutes to Burleigh Heads.
Other things to note
The Acute Abode is not accessible for people who have mobility limitations. Please be aware of the split level arrangement. To access the sleeping space, you are required to climb steep steps. Please take extreme care when ascending and descending the stairs and always keep the balcony gate shut when there are people in the loft.
Whilst the Acute Abode has Wifi access, the rural area can sometimes mean that the connection is low or sometimes non existent especially during poor weather conditions.
Currumbin valley and the surrounding roads are sometimes prone to flooding and whilst this is only occasional we may need to to cancel, refund or move your stay due to the safety of all guests involved.
PETS FOR PRE APPROVAL
- All animals are to be under full control on their leads at all times (we have lots of birds and livestock on the property that need to be protected).
- Animals aren’t allowed in the loft or on furniture to please insure that they have their own bedding and bowls ect.
- Animals are not to be left unsupervised inside the property.
- Animals need to be cleaned and dried prior to coming inside (we will leave some towels and shampoo to use outside next to the garden hose for your use, we know our dog loves a creek swim!)
- Any mess needs to be cleaned prior to departure (including animal hair).
- Any damages will be charged as an extra fee.
