Charming, renovated apt. in once-grand colonial 1930s block. Enjoy breezy rooftop views from your balcony overlooking the leafy, bustling Central Market precinct. An authentic Phnom Penh experience with all the mod cons.

* a note on the stairs: this is an old, family-occupied building with 3 public stairways/entrances that are a very shabby, often littered and dirty, but safe and well used. Our neighbours are friendly and welcoming.

The space
A charming blend of old and new: we've kept the original 80 year old tiles and shutters, but opened up the space and put in a skylight. You'll find traditional, wooden floors in bathroom and kitchen, a whitewashed brick bar and a big comfy bed.

You'll enjoy all the mod cons and it's all yours - aircon, wifi, cable TV, rainshower, ceiling fans, washing machine, full stove and oven, toaster, kettle and great security. Also basic kitchen essentials and bathroom amenities.

Our trusted tuk tuk driver can meet you at the airport or station for a small fee you'll pay directly to him, help with bags and let you in. Or make your own way there and we'll organise key handover. There's an info pack inside too, to help you get around. Then we'll leave you to your own devices. But don't hesitate to call us for advice or help during your stay.

Right in the heart of town, yet in a leafy area that's home to families and small businesses. Built for mid-level foreign public servants in the early 1940s, the whole precinct is alive with noodle shops, hairdressers, mom 'n pop convenience stores and of course the famed yellow Central Market. yet just round the corner are banks, pharmacies, restaurants and 5 minutes to the Riverside. We love this place - not too touristy but with everything you need to enjoy your stay.

Tuk tuks, cyclo, taxis and motodops abound. But we think you'll love to walk the area. So much to see and an excellent spot for photgraphers!

This is an 80 year-old, family-occupied building, so though all three entrances are very shabby and the main one can sometimes be littered, they're safe and well used. Our neighbours are friendly and welcoming. If you need basics like water, phone cards and snacks, there's a small kiosk right on the roof, just steps away from your front door.

Guest access
You'll enjoy all the mod cons and it's all yours - aircon, wifi, cable TV (some 100+ channels), rainshower, ceiling fans, washing machine, full stove and oven, toaster, kettle and great security. Also basic kitchen essentials and bathroom amenities.

As you'll see from the reviews, the main entrance stairs are very dirty and there are lots of them (about 80 in the main front stairwell) as the flat is on the breezy top floor. Their sometimes littered state is not unusual for older residential buildings in Phnom Penh, and because they're public spaces I don't have control over how clean they are: dozens of families use them every day. Despite this, the building is very safe and the neighbours warm and helpful. There are alternative stairs either end of the corridor which are generally a bit cleaner, but please don't expect a pristine environment.

A note on wifi: like many parts of Phnom Penh the wifi is occasionally patchy: Sunday evenings and big thunderstorms can sometimes be a problem. If you're not getting an ok signal, try switching on/off. This works 90% of the time. Otherwise it might just need an hour or so to get back on track.

I've a background in journalism, advertising and creative direction. I've been living in Cambodia since 2007, where I met my husband, who is a chef. We love to travel and eat, and I'm an avid amateur photographer. Phnom Penh is the perfect place to come home to - so much to see, and the food is fantastic. When you come to our place, you'll find a list of all our favourite places and secret spots for the best food and things to do off the beaten track. But be careful though, Phnom Penh has a way of getting under your skin and making you fall in love :)
