Where you’ll be

Mount Mee, Queensland, Australia

Just over an hours drive from Brisbane, Mount Mee is a glorious and picturesque farming community which is set on top of Mount Mee with views across the valley and down to the bay.

The historic village of Dayboro is a 20 minute drive from our farm. For lovers of arts and culture, Dayboro is the town for you. This quaint village might be small in size but it's big on character with an array of quirky cafes, antiques, craft and gift shops and historical buildings.

If you’re looking for a little more peace and quiet, the small local village of Woodford sits at the base of the Mountain and is the perfect getaway for anyone and everyone, but if you are looking for something a little louder, the annual Woodford Folk Festival is held there December every year. Woodford is a 13 minute drive down the mountain.

The well known country restaurant, Birches, is a 200m walk from our farm and the Mount Mee Sunday markets are also within walking distance.

The Dahmongah Lookout Park in Mount Mee is located about 500 metres from our farm and offers spectacular sunsets with panoramic views of the Glasshouse Mountains, coastline and Brisbane CBD.

We also have numerous wedding venues around us at Ocean View which can be accessed within a 15 minute drive.

Eating!
Local restaurants include Birches Restaurant, Ocean View Winery, The Dayboro Drop, The Dayboro Cafe, The Woodford Hotel, Woodford Gardens Cafe. Please check in advance on availability and opening times.

Swimming!
In Dayboro you will also find Rocky Hole swimming hole. Voted as one of the top attractions to visit near Brisbane, Rocky Hole is a stunning swimming hole etched into the natural contours of Mount Mee’s granite filled gullies. Surrounded by open eucalypt forest, Rocky Hole is a picturesque location to take a dip on a hot summer day. The swimming hole is only a short 200 metres from the car park. It is easily accessed by a walking track and stairs that descend onto boulders that surround the main swimming hole. Home not only to an adorable waterfall, but also a timber swing, only accessible by those brave enough to swim across. Aside from the main swimming area, which can be quite deep in areas, there are shallow spots that are just perfect for little ones to frolic and play in the water, collect pebbles, and watching for small native fish.

Pack a picnic!
Rocky Hole is a stunning spot to pull up and enjoy a picnic lunch. Popular spots to stop and pickup local picnic supplies include:
Dayboro Bakery for fresh bread and scrumptious
Dayboro Butcher for specialty snags
Oceans View Estates for a splash of local wine and craft beer
Dayboro and Woodford IGA for other nic nacs.

Hiking!
D’Aguilar National Park lies on the doorstep of Brisbane, Queensland’s capital city. The park is divided into two distinct sections—South D’Aguilar section and Mount Mee section (formerly Mount Mee State Forest and Forest Reserve).
Mount Mee section encompasses the northern section of the park that extends west to nearby Lake Somerset.

Somerset Trail in D’Aguilar National Park, Mount Mee is undoubtedly one of the best Brisbane bushwalks near the city.
The trail offers hikers a clearly signposted, pleasant, class 4 walk through open-forest, pine-forest and pockets of rainforest which should take no more than 3 to 4 hours to complete at a leisurely pace (or 1 hour 30 minutes to 2 hours trail running). It is suitable for children who've been on bushwalks before and who have a reasonable level of fitness.
The trail is fairly level and easy to traverse, with numerous slight inclines and dips throughout, a reasonable level of fitness is recommended.

From the south, travel through Samford and Dayboro then follow Mount Mee Road (tourist route number 29) and Sellin Road to the park. A four-wheel-drive vehicle is recommended to access the park beyond The Gantry day-use area.
From the north, turn left off the D’Aguilar Highway at Neurum Road (just north of Woodford and east of Kilcoy) and follow it as far as Stanton Road. Turn left onto Stanton Road, then take the first right to stay on Stanton Road before turning right onto Rasmussen Road. Continue on Rasmussen Road for about 5km to the northern entrance of the park.

Rock Climbing!
The Glasshouse Mountains await your discovery! Rock climbing is a fantastic full day activity, great for everyone from beginners to advanced.
The Glass House Mountains in South East Queensland are an awe-inspiring collection of 11 ranges perfect for rock climbing, hiking, wandering along, and gazing at. But what you might not know is that they’re related to one another in Indigenous mythology.

The father Tibrogargan, Beerwah the mother, and their many children (including eldest son Coonowrin) are situated an hour’s drive north of Brisbane. The range is made of molten lava volcanic peaks that rise from the Sunshine Coast’s patchwork of farming plains, home to the Jinibara and Gubbi Gubbi people. The Dreamtime (the beginning of time for Indigenous Australians – more than 60,000 years ago) tells the story of the Glass House Mountains, explaining the way the landscape was created 25 millions years ago.
