Where you’ll be

Jervis Bay, New South Wales, Australia

Enjoy private access to idyllic sandy lakefront; perfect for swimming, kayaking, SUP's, windsurfing, fishing, boating or just reading a book.
Sit on the timber deck at tree canopy level and enjoy the ever changing scenery of the water; our resident family of ducks, pelicans, black swans, sea eagles and every so often the dramatic approach of the “southerly" when the Basin changes from glass-like conditions to meter high waves and it's time to retire to the other protected deck where you will be out of the wind.
Enjoy the abundant bird life, kangaroos, possums and if you are lucky a blue tongued lizard might make an appearance.
Here you can relax and escape your busy life.

Activities in the area:
The Basin Walking Track in front of the cottage is a 1 ½ hour easy bush walk or mountain bike track which links Palm Beach and Paradise Beach along the tree covered shoreline. On the walk you will enjoy great vistas of the Budawangs, Pigeon House Mountain and breath taking sunsets.
Greville Corner Store is a short stroll along the walking track for a great breakfast, excellent coffee and meals.
A Thai restaurant is close by and the food is delicious.
Sanctuary Point has a bakery, chemist, banks, IGA, take away foods, Post Office, Medical Centre, Country Club (golf & tennis courts), cycle shop, garden/gift shop, hairdresser/beauty salon, bottle shop all approx. 1km away.
Hyams Beach, Booderee National Park, Jervis Bay with its many spectacular beaches are all a 10 minutes drive away.
Huskisson is a 15 minute drive with restaurants, cafes, gift shops, boutiques, museum, movie theatre, whale watching tours, kayaking, boat hire and dive shops.
The Budawangs National Park is in the vicinity and offers more adventurous bushwalking and mountain biking.
There is a paved cycle way and walking track to Vincentia and Huskisson for the energetic.
For kite boarding, windsurfing and sailing there are many options to suit your experience and level (eg,windsurf in front of the cottage, kite board at Collingwood Beach, Vincentia and John Williams Reserve, Sanctuary Point is suitable for both).
Boat ramp conveniently located with a easy mooring for your boat in front of the cottage. Plenty of room to park your boat and trailer on the property.
Delightful historic towns of Berry, Kangaroo Valley and Milton are worth a visit. There are several wineries in the Shoalhaven region.

I discovered this amazing part of the world while backpacking around Australia on a working holiday in the 1980's as part of a 2 year round the world trip and was lucky to eventually return with my Australian husband where we settled and brought up our family.
On my travels I met some fantastic characters who were keen to share and make my travel experiences special. Now having lived in the area for 23 years, I feel proud to share some of my favourite local tips for others to enjoy.
My passions are kite boarding, wind surfing, bush walking, skiing, good food, good books and discovering new places in between visiting my family who are in the UK and Cyprus.
My favourite destinations so far are trecking in Nepal and wandering the back streets of Venice . In the last few years it's been fun finding new places for kiting on the off season - Good spots so far are Cyprus, Aitutaki in the Cook Islands and Bali.?0
