If you are looking for a cosy vacation house with spectacular view, close to several attractions, this is the one. The view to Reynisfjara beach, Dyrholaey, Eyjafjallajokull and Myrdalsjokull is just brilliant.

The space

The house is 40 m2 with a large porch. It has two bedrooms with good double beds. There is a sleeping sofa in the living room, fine for kids and others who like hard beds. Bed sheet / linen and towels are provided. Bathroom with a shower.

The house is equipped with a kitchenette, little stove + oven, refrigerator, coffee machine, microwave, toaster etc. Smart TV and free Wi-Fi.

Interaction with guests

We live in Reykjavik and have owned this summer house for 12 years. We use it a lot in the summer time and our kids love to stay there, relax and enjoy the nature. This year we will also rent it when we are not using it ourselves.

Amazing views! Close but not too close to a couple restaurants and bars.

This is the perfect location for exploring Vik, the black sands beaches/sea arch/sea stacks, and driving east towards Hofn. We arrived after dark after exploring Thorsmork, Skogafoss, Seljalandsfoss, and had difficulty finding the correct gate entrance for the house. It was pouring rain, which didn't help, but we should have made a point to locate the house in daylight first. Ragnar provided a detailed write-up of recommendations for the area and beyond. NOTE: Make sure to fill up on gas and get any groceries or other food before 9PM. The town basically shuts down at 9:00. The second night, not only did we catch the tail end of sunset and the full moon rising above the sea stacks, but we saw the northern lights directly above the house! Amazing!! Now that I know how to get to the correct gate for the house, I would return!

Staying in Ragner's apartment was definitely a highlight of our trip to Iceland. While located only 3 min drive away from the famous black sand beach, the scene at the house itself is absolutely stunning! Quietly sitting on the Icelandic greenish hills facing the sea front, on a warm day we sat on the front porch of the cosy little house watching the sunset and on a clear crispy summer night we went out to see a full galaxy of stars above in the sky. The house is well equipped with a kitchen, heating system, and internet connected TV/ DVD. Small in size but has everything you need at home. We also would like to thank Ragnar for sharing a very thoroughly written road trip guide before we depart to Iceland. It contains very insightful tips on what to see, where to stop, and where to shop. We used Ragnar's guide instead of Lonely Planet for our trip. :) Thank you so much Ragner! All the best to you and your family! :)

Such a nice cottage with an incredible view! It's a 2 minute drive from Reynisfjara Beach and Black Sand Restaurant making it a prime location and adding to the incredible view. It's tucked on the hillside in the country. Very lovely.
