Deep in the Devon countryside, the flat is part of my family owned very old farm thatched farmhouse, mentioned in the Doomsday book. Stunning surrounding area, just 4 miles from nearest town & main line train station. Try cider making in season.

The space

Very old, unspoilt grade A* listed property with no converted barns. 1583 Fireplace in the flat, old beams, wooden floor boards, eco friendly hot water & central heating, stunning views.
King Size bed available with blow up double mattress for extra sleeping on the floor and/or a choice of two sofas.

Guest access

If I am around when you visit you can share my kitchen, sitting room/bedroom and bathroom and use the spare bedroom. Should it coincide when I am away then you can have the flat to yourself and my king size bed.
Smoking is allowed outside the front door.

Interaction with guests

If I am around I can show you around, you are welcome to eat with me, maybe help out on the farm cider making, logging, sawmill, feeding the animals.

Other things to note

The house is very old and cranky, with some low door ways, so do watch your head.
You may be woken in the morning by the chickens.

If you love old buildings with character and charm, this place is to die for. Words and pictures can only convey some of what awaits you at this fabulous old farmhouse. A warm and welcome flat, walking in to this place so full of history is wonderous. The town of Honiton is a short drive away, and has all the usual facilities like supermarkets and banks, but when you're at the farmhouse you feel a million miles away from all that. Breakfasts sitting at the window are magic. Unfortunately we didn't get to meet Fran (he was away on one of his adventures), but his family were down-to-earth and friendly, and assisted us with useful local knowledge, including advice about local pubs and eating options. After our three nights at this place, we truly didn't want to leave! Off the beaten track, this is a great base from which to explore the beautiful Devon countryside.

Fran is a magnificent host who made us feel very welcome and helped us out with some car problems. A really lovely guy who was a joy to meet. His quirky flat is within a beautiful Devon Farmhouse which is like stepping back in time. Wake up to the sound of the cocks crowing and enjoy the silence of the night and wonderful starry skies. Don't expect luxury hotel conditions but enjoy this very relaxed and comfortable home, along with a lovely host for which nothing is a problem. We'd stay again in a flash!

I'm 32 and I love and live the outdoors and work hard to play harder. Still yet to grow up I guess, but hey, it allows me to enjoy life a little more. I like to try and preserve the planet we live on for others enjoyment. When i'm off travelling you can have my whole flat,…
